I understand you have to do what is best for you to make money. What does it mean as for as being a member of one of the sites? Other than not being about able to download things?

Well, today is an overload. We've got Zany, Greggl and Dave45. Zany and Greggl are, of course, current members and Dave45 a previous member. Dave died a couple years ago, possibly from emphysema.
