A lot of times it has nothing to do with the webair servers in NY or in Amsterdam. The way the internet works is similar to a bunch of highways you have to take to get some place. Some highways are maintained by AT&T, some by Roadrunner, some by Verizon, etc... get what I mean? So let's say between your house and the webair server you have to go onto 5 different companies roads, and one company is down, doing repairs/maintenance whatever... so you will automatically be rerouted. Sometimes you won't notice much, but other times it could reroute you to europe and back! You never know.

Step 1 do this: http://www.vnagirls.com/speedtest/
Report back to me what you get. If it's slower than you think it should be go to step 2.

Step 2 http://netdebug.webair.com?ticket=91711 ... agirls.com
when its done testing it will ask u "do u want to submit results to webair? Make sure you say yes. It will automatically create a support ticket that will come to me and to webair, then we'll work together to see what we can do about it, or at least explain what is going on, reach out to the intermiary company that is down and get an eta on when traffic will resume as usual.

If the link doesn't run right away you may have to lower your java settings to medium, instead of high. Change it like this:
(don't forget to put it back to HIGH after you have reported your issue)

The upload speed sucks for sure, but you don't upload anything to the server unless you are ranking a video or photoset, then you interact, or if you are posting here, or uploading an attachment here. What you need be most concerned about is the downloading speed of videos, it's actually capped. We don't let anyone download more than 5 videos simultaneously, and I think we only allow downloading at a max of 3 mbps so you are totally fine there. You have the ability to download at 16, but we won't let you anyway.. hahaha... It has to be that way because there are 4000 videos on the site, live shows on all the time and there is the possibility of thousands of members downloading at the same time. Not that it would happen, because everyone gets on at different times, but if we let everyone download wide open, it would crash the servers, so we have to give out the bandwidth in slices.... You can prob do the test different times and depending on the net traffic in general, and the traffic on our site it could be different.

Vince, them speeds aren't too shabby.

Webair being an isp they must have a bunch of servers linked to switches doing load balancing, so instead of using just 1 server for the tests each one gets to do a test then on to the next machine and so on at Webair.

So i ran speedtest about a dozen times between me and webair, and i've noticed the speeds vary greatly between 4mbps to 30mbps, but it was cyclical, about every 5 or 6 tests, i'd get the 4mbps then another round starting at 20-25mbps and gradually back down to 4mbps with each consecutive test.

All i can say is not all servers are created equal. But it seems like you get good speeds if the servers aren't too busy or if the main switch doesn't get you on a slow server or slow switch.

My cam show feeds are terrible. Very spotty and broken. I get less than maybe 10% of the audio. This has been going on since at least Sunday.

Ran the speed test with the cam show on and no cam show.

First test (cam show running) showed.0.12 down and .54 up.
I closed the cam show window and ran it again. 14.23 down and .96 up. Thought I was onto something. So I opened the cam room again (still running terrible.) This time it gave me 14.09 down, .93 up, comparable to the cam show running test. So now I'm not sure. This was with IE, which seems to be going away. So, I'll reboot, switch to chrome and try again.

I'm at least a little suspicious that the problem is in my computer, not on the internet.

The speedtest suggests cities after the 1st run, you can use for that or pick one at the main site: www.speedtest.net

Run the speedtest using a city closest to you. it should be equal to or close to what it says in your internet contract with your isp.

if they report good speeds (within 5mbps) between you and the city then the problem isn't in your neighborhood, its between your isp and webair and best to report it to webair directly with the 2nd link Vicky gave.

if the test to the city closest to you is also low (less than half) then its another problem, and you should notify your isp, they have tools to detect where and why the slowdown happens.

it also depends when you do the test, between 6pm and midnight is when is most congested as people get home and want to surf or watch youtube/netflix/etc.

Did my little part to try and figure out why Sammy Tyler's show tonight was really choppy (sound cut out for seconds at a time, video seems to stream at slower framerate than expected). The mini speedtest was awful (less than 1 Mb down/up) on 2 of 3 tries. Got the webair ticket updated (new java didn't have a medium security setting so I had to add the website to the allowed list and a couple of other minor hoops to get it working). I've been on the upgraded fiber connection for a few weeks now (1G down/up from AT&T) and most of the live shows seem good on my end most of the time but there are the occasional shows that seem to be tougher to enjoy when it doesn't.

After I submitted the info, redid the speedtest and got much better results but the live show from Sammy wasn't doing any better.

I do think the problem is on Sammy's end... I'm not sure what they are doing, I think she streams to 2 places at the same time, splitting her upload... I'm talking to her about it... her cam is always so pixelated.... Also the average size of the camshow archive is anywhere from 200 meg to 500 meg (for super hd), that's the average across the board for all the 60 girls... Sammy's archives are only 50 meg each time.... so whatever she is putting out is really low quality...

Just did my own test using Webair's system..and got this result:

I then did a comparable test using the Speedtest.com site, with the same server, and got this:
SpeedTest_speedtestdotcom-20141129at1942CST.png
My current Internet (via Charter) is set at 30M down/4M up; though they are promising to increase it in the very near future as part of their "Charter Spectrum" service. (Damn well better be, since I'm paying $200/month for their full bundled service and $30 for the Internet portion.)

I should also note that I use a wireless router network to get the signals to my laptop. I'm assuming that that would also affect my dl/ul speeds, correct??

Anyways...also did the Webair testing, and sent the info to them. Not too much issues with speed, but it would be interesting to see whether it can be further improved.

200$ a month ? i used to pay that for 3 services. i threatened to go to a competitor and they gave me a year contract at half price. now its 90 for the next 12 months. i actually had to sign up to a competitor tho, when they sent my isp the notice i was leaving, they called me right away and re-negotiated.

Might work for you.

As for wifi, well yes it can affect the speedtest if there's a lot of interference or walls in between you and the router.

Best to do it wired but 6 feet away using wifi should be fine. You can use Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector http://www.xirrus.com/ to check how strong your signal is from your router.

Once installed click on networks, then your wifi should be the one in orange at the top of the list. The signal (dBm) will be in green if its good.

As you can see channel 11 in my neighborhood is pretty busy so i stay off it.

looks like the mini speedtest expired.

FYI might want to have them use this as well to check to make sure things on the browser side are up to date: https://browsercheck.qualys.com/
