LOL, I've "kinda" been there. In the Air Force, in 1963 - 64, I was sent to Thule Greenland. I pretty much enjoyed it, as this was an experience that not many people get to have. Of course, one thing they would do is bring in various performers via the USO. I don't remember the schedule, but, for example, they would appear at the Officers club for a few days, then the NCO club, then sometimes at the Airmens club.
There was a musical group that performed, maybe 4 guys and a "pretty" girl, who wore a costume that looked like a one-piece swimming suit. At that time I had been up there for several months, maybe more than 6. So I was definitely feeling the lack of beautiful women. I took my camera to the club, as many did. As she danced, I, of course, would snap pictures. I would generally "hold back" and try to get the most provocative poses - you know, like when she would do a high kick or something.
When I got the pictures back from developing (this was way before digital cameras,) I was pretty pleased with the results. There were definitely some in there that I wouldn't want Mom to see, but I might be "reviewing" under the covers with a flashlight, after lights out,
Well, I finally packed the pictures away as I got close to rotation. Numerous years later, I ran across them. This was after I had been back in civilization for a year or two, and was "somewhat" reacclimated to beautiful women, especially those that didn't seem to need many clothes.
I pulled out those pictures and looked, hoping for some good memories. I hate talking down about people, but, man, I gotta say, that was one ugly woman. I swear, they must have hired her at Pimlico (a horse racing track over here.) I'm sorry. I looked at every one, and I swear, I could hear a horse whinny.
If you've seen Don's cartoon, where Mom says to Daughter, "Listen up, Darlene. The fact that there is even such a thing as ugly hookers tells you pretty much all you need to know about men," That pretty much covered my time in Greenland and for a couple months after I got home.
