Well just checked 112 hear with only 6% humidity and wind of 23 MPH. We might have the nation high again today.
Gota love it!

See those fires in colorado? Same thing there, over 100 and no humidity... 5100 acres are burning, one mile from homes..... crazy scary.

Winter down under this year is the coldest in recent memory - we've had 5 days straight in S-E Qld below average temps 14C-16C, a new record for this region with rain & cold winds every day :yuck:
Forecasters say tomorrow will be the same then the :sun: will return on Friday. Our average temperature here in June is 20C so it's abnormally cold right now brrr ...

All I know is that it is too fucking hot everywhere in the continental US. We have temperatures forcasted for the mid 90s again in Southeastern Wisconsin (which really sucks!!) but where it's really bad is out West. In 1978 and 1979, I lived in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy and from what I can see on TV, I doubt very much that the house we lived in is there anymore. The terrain right in the foothills there is very steep in some places and there is lots of brush and the pine trees around there are dry (in any normal year) so in 2012 it's easy to understand why everything is burning down. I guess the winds are gusting to 65 mph so the fire can jump over any kind of a fire break that the crews build. I am also glad that Vicky seems to have made it OK through her hurricane and it ended up being just a pain in the ass instead of an absolute disaster where you lose all of your stuff. I hope the power stays on and you guys can dry everything off OK. :spacecraft: :party-smiley: :jumpingviking: In 3 or 4 more months, the snow should be flying, in Colorado, and nobody will be thinking about the wildfires anymore they just gotta make it through the Summer :ski: :ski: :ski: :ski:

Came thru Colorado Springs early Wednesday, maybe 9 AM. Here are some pics I took, looking west from I-25 at the Air Force Academy. The Control Tower you see is the AFA Field. These pics don't reveal quite the detail I could see. For example, I could see individual plumes of smoke coming up behind the homes you see in the last 2 pics. I believe some of those homes are among some that are no more.

From North of the fire. Usually you can see Pikes Peak and the rest of the Front Range of the Rockies to the left side of the picture.

Closer view from the Northern Edges of the fire area.

100_1370a.jpg
This is the housing area behind the AFA, portions of which have now burned.
100_1372a.jpg
The Northern areas of the housing area (to the right) are what I believe have burned now. You can see the smoke rising to the right of it.
100_1373a.jpg
A zoom out of the areas pictured above.
100_1374a.jpg
In this link, you can zoom in quite close until You see I-25. At the top is a menu that says, "Jump to Wildfire." Click it and select the Waldo Canyon fire. Once there you can use the slide bar at the upper right (click on the right arrow) to zoom in as close as you want. Click and hold the map to move it around.

Look toward the north until you see the runways to the left (west) of I-25, east of the fire area. If you're in close enough, to the left (east) of the AFA runway, you'll see a pull out area along the freeway. That is where I took the pics. Move the map over to where the fire is and you can clearly see the areas with burned homes.

another heat wave on its way, i swear i could already feel it this morning.

but its windy and that's good for moving the air around. nothing worst than a stagnant heat that just won't go away.

VNA friends and those in Texas and AZ stay cool. We were in Dallas area and 106!

Sad thing is that some of the CO Springs fires may been arson and started on purpose. Kill those nuts!

Atlanta has been in the 100's everyday for a week, but thankfully it will only be 92 and humid for the next few days. hRL has the week off and we are just going to stay naked and never leave the pool.

Thank God the fires in Colorado are getting somewhat under control. We have several friends in Colorado and all safe.

Any thoughts as to the facts as to why so many fires now?

NOT that Global warming B.S, but due to liberal environmental NUTS in D.C!

Controlled burns and cutting out dead kindling wood have been curtailed! So rather than using mankind's 21 century knowledge we allow stone age thinking to help cook our neighbor's homes.

After all, those rich folks should not have nice homes that they have worked for. Rather share their efforts with all that do nothing, are anti-capitalism and want us that work to give them everything. Looks like Miss Vicky could take in 20 - 25 free loaders and Walt 8 - 10! Vote the D.C. bums OUT!

Happy 4th Birthday and all re-read the Deceleration of Independence. Our freedoms are being taken away.

Forecasters in Australia say we will get El Nino' weather pattern for next few months here meaning below average rainfall & drought conditions after 2 years of La Nina' (above average rainfall).

After reading about the wildfires in Co. and all the 100+ days some areas are having, maybe the heatwave around here isn't so bad. Mostly above 90f for the last couple weeks and only rained once in the last 3 weeks.

I'm starting to know how Walt feels.
