They shouldn't have a death sentence!stickyvicky wrote: No, death is not good enough for these heartless soulless bastards. Somehow it's still not fair, there really is no such thing as justice even if they are caught.
Imprisonment for life (& I mean until they are 100% dead) , with no chance for any kind of probation, never ever.
They should rot, rot & rot... in silence...
Every day they should think about, and get conscious about, what they have done until they break down and cry for the lethal injection.
They have to regret before they go to hell...
Is it fair to think like that?... to be cruel like that?
I say yes, it is!
They have been bloodthirsty cruel to innocent people. No warnings!
They deserve nothing else but their own reflected cruelness.

They need to catch him alive, so that we get more information on what their motives are and whether there is someone else involved or if there's another connection with an international network. It's gonna be tough, though. During the shooting it became pretty clear both are willing to die.

I share your thoughts Vicky and Walt. Hopefully every victim and family member of this horrific crime can find peace some day, certainly not today or tomorrow, but some day that they can find peace.

i heard they caught 2 brothers suspected of doing this. one was shot dead during a shooting with the police, the other is in hospital.
i just hope they caught the ones responsible, i want to know what possessed them to do this.

It struck me today when I saw the huge American flag over Perkin's restaurant at half mast. It was very windy and the flag was extended waving in full glory. The individuals that committed this crime have the death of an 8-year old child on their records and the crime resulted in the flag of the United States to be lowered to half mast. A crime like that does not deserve life imprisonment at our expense. Gather the evidence, convene the court, try the one that's still alive, and if he's found guilty (no fucking insanity plea) the death sentence is carried out.
Giving the asshole life imprisonment with free meals, a shower, a pillow, etc. is not punishment and not justice.

Absolutely. Sadaam Hussein, they found him guilty, hauled his ass out beck and broke his neck. Quadafy, hauled his ass out of a drainage ditch, shot the sob dead. He was always cocky on camera. Kind of funny to watch him cowering and begging for his life. Bin Laden? Reach for a gun? Bingo, right between the old peepers. Whatever you think of the middle east, (or Navy Seals,) they know how to treat assholes.

Y'all have good arguments for both life imprisonment and death sentence. A pro for imprisonment is rotting away in a jail cell for the rest of your life, especially when you're 19 years old with basically nothing to do but think about it. A con for this is the expense incurred for locking the scumbag up and feeding him for the rest of his life. Pro for death: execute him and that's it, we're rid of him. Con: makes him a martyr to the cause (I'm making the assumption that the brothers' cause was an islamic jihad). I prefer the death penalty because I want to send a message to the terrorists: Attack us in this manner and we will hunt you down and kill you.

i know people want revenge and to feel vindicated and safe in their own town, in their own country. I felt like that back in 2001 and i'm reminded pretty much every time we see footage from Afghanistan and other war torn countries. People are out for blood and they point fingers at whoever is there. It's a normal reaction and one we all understand after 9/11.
But let's take a step back here for a minute. Every time there's talk about the death penalty VS the cost to the system, i always take a step back and try to remember we're talking about taking someone's life.
So i have one more con against penalty of death: what if you have the wrong guy ?
People have been imprisoned unjustly before and released years later upon finding more proof of their innocence.
if it's a choice between letting him rot in jail or hanging, in the grand scheme of things, the Cost of the wrong decision with a big "C" , could be greater.
Today it's one kid getting lynched, tomorrow it's one more bullet heading our way from his home country.
What's a 2$ sandwich for lunch&diner compared to the weight of having killed the wrong man ?
That's why you mustn't just think about money.
i'm not saying the 19 year old kid they have in custody is innocent. That's for them to figure out, i don't know, i wasn't there.
The picture the papers showed came from the FBI, it could have been wrong. I mean how could they just spot these 2 out of the thousands of people there that day ? What made them focus on these 2 ? Were they in the FBI's scope already ?
I'm sure in the coming weeks and months we'll have witnesses come forward saying they saw someone plant bombs. We just have to make sure it's the right people convicted. A mistake like this is impossible to undo.
Just thinking bigger picture.

It seems like that kind of person always generates that kind of following. You have women writing and proposing marriage to men on death row for the most heinous of crimes. Sometimes makes you wonder about people, but also makes you realize that it really does "take all kinds." It's scary that this kind of person actually exists and you can't help but wonder, "What the Hell is wrong with their brains?"

could be just another small cell wanting to free a member of their terror squad.
