yep that's what i've been hearing in the news.

idk much about it, but the gov is given 1 year by the courts to revise the laws, and i hope it will be in favor of the sex-workers. even if its just protection and medical care.

idk about any new rights they have right now just that some laws are unconstitutional.
Prostitution in Canada is legal, as there are no laws prohibiting the exchange of sex for money. On the 20th December 2013, the Supreme Court of Canada found the laws prohibiting brothels, public communication for the purpose of prostitution, and living on the profits of prostitution to be unconstitutional. The ruling gives the Canadian parliament 12 months to rewrite the prostitution laws; in the meantime anti-prostitution laws will continue to be enforced.[1]

While the prohibition of the activities surrounding the sex trade makes it difficult to practice prostitution without breaking any law, the act of exchanging sex for money has never been illegal in Canada, a situation which has created and continues to create confusion and controversy.
The prostitution laws have been largely unchanged since the early 19th century despite frequent commissions, studies and constitutional challenges since the introduction of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982.

There is a general agreement that the status quo of prostitution in Canada is problematic, but there is no consensus on what should be done.[2] There is an ideological disagreement between those who want to see prostitution eliminated, generally because they view it either as an exploitative or unacceptable part of society, and those who view prostitution as a transaction between consenting adults and advocate decriminalisation.
if that's anything to go by, it is from wikipedia after all.

it's a confusing issue and i doubt anyone want's to touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Prostitution is legal in Canada. It's the solicitation of services that is illegal. That's what my understanding is.

Monica was telling me that, in Norway, it's either ok for the woman to accept the money but illegal for the customer to offer it, or it's ok for him to pay it but illegal for her to ask for it (or accept it.)

I remember thinking, he should just drop some money into a trashcan. Then she could walk up and say, "Oh, gee, look what I found that someone threw away." :lmao:

It is legal to sell, but illegal to buy....you have to be a politician to get the logic of that.....
