So we are trying to be healthier lately... I have not had ice cream or chocolate or cake since our last day in hawai, lol... so that's at least 3 weeks now... We bought a juicer, but don't exactly know what to do with it yet... I'm just afraid it's going to be gross... Anyone else have one? Any tips? Recipes you want to share? Think I'm gonna try some of these... http://juicerecipes.com/health/benefits ... ight-loss/

A Juicer??? Oh, the jokes we could make here. But, I won't,
I have something called a Ninja something. It's not a juicer, but is more than a blender. It has two levels of knives and turns fruit into a drink. I don't have any recipes, I just throw in a couple frozen strawberries, a few blueberries, red or purple grapes, a cup of milk, maybe some sliced apples, half a banana, a tbsp or two of honey, a tsp of cinnamon, couple packets of sweetener, and the kitchen sink. Hit the button a few secs and WHAMO! Gots me a drink.
One hint. Freeze your veggies; your strawberries, grapes, etc. They'll last much longer, and the juicer will puree them anyway.
Those do sound like good recipes. Maybe I'll try some in my What-ever-it-is.

You could throw some whey protein into your juice/milk concoction Walt, and have yourself a nice shake!

Do I look like the type that would sit on my tuffet eating my curds and whey??? What if a spider came along?
Thanks for the hint. maybe I'll try that, if I can find it.

I use a Vita-Mix and this is what I make most of the time.
Handful of Blueberries
Handful of Raspberries
1 Orange
1 Apple
2 Carrots
10 Strawberries
Handful of Spinach
The spinach is over powering, so don't put as much if you don't like the taste of spinach. I add water and ice to the mix once I have all the fruit and veggies in the Vita-Mix.
Recently I freeze my strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries because after 5 - 7 days in the fridge the will start turning bad. Then I would just add the frozen fruit and not even bother with the ice and just add the water.
Also, if I have any protein mix I will add that too.

Yeah, the frozen berries take the place of the ice. Sometimes I'll even add a cup of yogurt.
It seems like you can add just about anything to make a decent drink. The secret seems to be in the proportions, like Vince says.

I did this:
Beet Root - 1 beet (3" dia) 175g
Cabbage (red) - 2 leaf 46g
Carrots - 3 medium 183g
Lemon - 1/2 fruit (2-3/8" dia) 42g
Orange - 1 fruit (2-5/8" dia) 131g
Pineapple - 1/4 fruit 226.25g
Spinach - 2 handful 50g
It was great but I was hungry 30 minutes later!

I have some books about alchemy, where they mixed up ingredients like those in your list, plus some extras... Beware! ...you might end up like Catwheazle, because your new philter might teleport you into the future...stickyvicky wrote:Well I made my first batch of juice and I gotta say it was actually pretty tasty! My Goodness Vicky. Try and get a Juice Maker an blend fruit.
Banana, Milk, apricot, passion fruit, and strawberries. Blend well until its a drink and then you will have a great balance of health through out the day.
This is what I do every morning,

Dear Handcock,
I have to meet you someday. You think like I do, and you still owe me a beer.
Now as for this juicer thread, what makes juicing so popular with the Magic Bullet crowd? I guess it's the mixing in of everything you need in one glass. I guess I'd rather grab some pineapple spears and a handful of strawberries than mash them into a smoothie. :)
You go Vicky. I hope you are doing well so far. Keep posting recipes and I might give it a go. Maybe you'll be the one to convince me that kale is good for me.
Cheers Folks

I used to have a juicer but couldn't find it after we moved. I never tried kale and I could imagine that would be gross. I will tell you don't try garlic, I was told not to so I had to try it. I drank it out of spite, and then my breath was amazing. It's really good if you want alone time
