A couple days ago I almost bought Google Chromecast.

So, I'm asking anyone that bought this USB streaming thing. Worth my $35?

Friend bought it a few months ago, as far as I know he loves it. I'm an apple guy myself even though it costs more

I still haven't bought it yet. I'll probably get it next month.

Eddiemac, I went to Amazon and looked over this page. http://www.amazon.com/Google-Chromecast ... chromecast
It looks like you plug it into your HDMI port on your TV. Then, using a USB cable you plug it into a USB power source on your TV. Look over the pictures on the page and read everything. Personally, it looks like a good deal to me.

every where i read its the best thing to get for an unsmart tv. maybe a smarttv too .
if you don't have miracast/widi but it does so much more.
afaic, 2 weeks no strings to try it out should give you a good idea what you're in for.

Well, Eddie, I went ahead and bought one. So far, I like it. It does have a somewhat limited usage. For example, It can't readily play content off of your computer. I understand there are workarounds for that, so I am looking into that.
So far I have used it to play YouTube content and it works great. Nice to see my favorite vids on my TV. There are also services that are compatible if you subscribe to them, such as Netflix. So, it bears a lot of investigating, but I'd say it's certainly worth the $35.
UPDATE: I'm watching a Netflix movie on my TV right now, and it doesn't interfere with my web surfing.
Go to Amazon, search Chromecast, click the first unit that comes up, then read the review from "An Actual Chromecast Owner." It's pretty thorough.

I bought one. It is limited in terms of what you can stream, and it is normally controlled by your phone. You may want to keep the phone connected to your phone charger. For a much more flexible streaming unit I think the ROKU is far superior. It costs a bit more, but well worth it.

You mean the Chromecast, Whitehat? How do you control it with your phone? I just plugged mine into my TV, ran thru a little set-up and it works. Wherever there's a compatible clip or video on line, I jut click the ChromeCast button and it goes to my TV automatically.
But I'll agree that the Roku might be an overall better deal.
