THE OFFICIAL VNA EXERCIZE & FITNESS DEPARTMENT...
Even something as simple as drinking more water will make you lose weight. It doesn't have to be a stop eating carbs cold turkey kind of thing. You could start off with 1 meal a day being "healthy" for a week, then the week after make it 2 etc.

Kitty, do you have a friend who is a little bit heavy? Grab her around the neck and drag her along. Make it a challenge, exercise together. Lay out your menus together, then dare each other to follow it.
Back to Julie, every thing she says is true as well. And take her tweaks. Use the honey. You can't do that with cold cereal, it wont mix. Know what I do? Run the water until it's hot. HOT! Run about 1/8th - 1/4 cup into your mixing cup. Squeeze two tablespoons into that and stir them in. You won't notice the water in your cereal. (What is milk, if not water?)
Good on the chicken breast, too. I dice mine first, so you can't bake or broil that (Well, yes you can.) But I guess I should try broiling the whole breast, then dice it up. Better idea.
Again, Get busy. You can do this!
(Thank you, Julie. Let's get this lady moving.!)

Are you serious? How can you work out in those? Don't you overheat? I get so hot I want to wear as little as possible!

PS: You are also in Florida where 70 is considered cold lol I wear shorts to the gym 99.9% of the time but I always wear a sweatshirt up top too even in the middle of summer. I take it off sometimes but a lot of the time Ijust keep it on.
I could use something like that, it's so cold in our gym in the winter. It never got above 12C (55F) in there all day, when I'm not working out I wear mitts to keep my hands warm. Before this place was a gym it was a warehouse, and we broke all the windows in the overhead doors playing hockey. There all boarded up, but it's damn cold in there. What's dumb is I freeze inside, but can play hockey outside on the rink all day.

A warehouse? So it's probably a concrete floor? Sounds freezing, bet everyone starts working out right away, no standing around... brrrrr....

The floor is covered with mats that lock together, then we have an indoor turf that's 10' wide by 80' long, so no ones on the cement floor, but yeah you don't stand around much

Those mats that lock together are great! There are used in the martial arts school I go to but they are not on the floor all the time.
We put them down when getting ready to do a demo for someone so that the demo team knows how much of an area they have to work with. Most of the demos are outside on concrete so we take our floor with us.
We usually try to have all our age group represented, from 4 - 70!!!

We had out Christmas food drive workout Thursday, you didn't have to be a member to show up, just bring something for the food bank. We raised about 400lbs of non perishable food, 17 turkeys, over 200lbs of buffalo meat, and other wild meat.
The workout was more fun then hard, but challenging, even Chief Prowling Wolf showed up, I put my arm around his shoulder and said "you ready to kick this in the ass?" He smiled and said "That's what we do best, right!" The only hard thing was the sled push, I put 135lbs on it so it wouldn't be to easy, but also not so hard for others. Everyone had to do a chin up, now those that don't workout for the most part can't do a body weight chin up, but we have different tension bans that we hang on the bar. Put your knee in and it helps you do it, one lady was having so much trouble and she started with the I can't do it cause I'm to........... you know. I took her to my sign area and showed her the one that said, "No negative attitudes allowed, your a winner" took her back to the bar and put on 2 grey bands, well she nailed it! We were all celebrating her moment when she asked if she could join the gym, I said, "fucking rights!" She then told me she was a ministers wife, I said "oh shit, my language, I mean", she stopped me and said, it's ok I'm joining. All in all it was an awesome time, and for a good cause

We had our kids workout/Christmas party today. Forty seven kids going out of control and I, they didn't stand a chance! We have a rope in the gym and you climb it to ring the bell at the top. It's 16' to the bell, almost everyone of them did it, and those that didn't make it tried again, one was so upset he couldn't do it. I said try one more time, with a little help he rang that fucking bell and we all were cheering. They did things at such a fast pace, was awesome, but that was the hardest workout I've had in a long time, just keeping up with them. After we had snacks for them, fruit and veggies, there wasn't a thing left after they left, Hayley and I also gave them each a little gift. Was a great time, I'm glad I don't have to do that often, but I'd love the gym that full everyday
We have a body transformation completion starting in the new year, you can go by weight loss or % of body fat loss. I checked mine today, I'm 127lbs and my body fat is at 14.3%, I don't know why I can't get it below 12%, really bugs me. My diet has been so strict lately, high protein, good fats and almost no carbs. I want a 6 pack, and you get that in the kitchen, I wanted it for Christmas, but looks like Valentines will have to work. So far for out completion we have 9 teams of 3 people each, so it's a total of everyone's effort. You stay more focused when there's pressure to not let the team down. We're giving away $1000 and 3 free months membership, pretty good I think. At the end of February when it's over we're having a guilt free party, I love those, lots of cheesecake for me!!

I'm dreading the new year.....I'll finally have to start exercising, eating right and losing weight. I say it every year but I freaking mean it this year. I'm 21 and I'm practically going to be single forever...and since they're all fuckboys around here and will screw a chubby girl but won't date one, the chub has gotta go. Guys want 90 pound girls, so I approximately have to lose...about 110 pounds. =.=
I'm 5'4 and even though I don't physically even look that fat, it says I'm morbidly obese......and it says for my healthy weight I should weight 120-140, so I need to at least lose 80-100 pounds. It's scary because I've tried to lose 5 pounds before and it never happened. I weigh around 220 now. :'( Yeah. I know you guys will think I'm gross cause of my weight and not sexy anymore (if I even was) but I don't care!
Work just has be going so hard and then I sleep all day so I don't know where I'll fit exercising in, to be honest.
Advice? :(

I used to live across from a city park, and talked about going over there to at least walk/trot/jog around it. But once I got home from work, I was in for the night. My Dad suggested, "Go to the park before you go home. Once you get home, you sit down and you're done. Or stop by the park first, do your lap then come home."
Made a lot of sense, and I did it, at lest until my shift changed. You say you work nights. You mean, until 6 AM, or whatever? If so, that is the ideal time. Is there a YMCA in your area? A gym that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? A park you can walk around? Admittedly, doing anything outside is a drag in the winter in your part of the country - well, unless you live in Bumfuck, Canada, where it's your only choice.
If you work an earlier shift, then you have to fit time in after you wake up. Have your coffee, meal or whatever, then get to exercising. I agree, doing anything by yourself, at home, is near impossible. If you could find someone to go with you, that would be very helpful. But you might consider buying yourself an exercise DVD//Then watch it and stick to it. I'm betting Julie or Vicky might have some good suggestions about that.
It is very hard,Kitty, to get started, much less keep at it. It requires a mental mindset. And I don't know how to get that part going - except for what you say. You are sick of who you are and how things are going. You want to change. Turn that into a determination. "I'M GOING TO DO THIS!"
Then, just decide what you want to do, then start. Start each day by just doing a little. Do that for a week. Then add to that. Then do THAT for a week. Then keep adding until you are at a level you are comfortable with. And listen to Julie and Vicky. They both have been doing this for a long time. They know whereof they speak,

I work 11pm-7:30 am. It's a hard shift, and to want to exercise after I get home, that would kill me. Dx It's just overwhelming and my best friend, she's skinny, so it's not like she'll exercise with me... :(
Show me your kitties. >:D
I have no clue what you do for work, but why can't you just workout before? To say you don't have time to workout when there are people that work 40h, have kids in sports etc. that find time to workout is silly. I think it's just an excuse because part of you is afraid of what is ahead of you. If you really want to lose weight, you will go to the gym or do some exercise. Yes I probably sound like an asshole LOL but it's the hard truth! Don't wait until the new year, there's no better time than now.
It all probably seems daunting because you say you need to lose 80-100lbs and that is a lot of weight, but if you say "I want to lose 5lbs every month" then it doesn't seem so bad. The overall goal might be 100 but when it's broken up into smaller goals it seems much more attainable.

I'm a nurses assistant and sometimes I work overtime too, and 12 hour shifts occasionally. I just feel so tired anymore, like I can sleep all day and still be tired and I hate it. And I know working out will make me more tired!
