I guess I'm pretty narrow when it comes to TV and movies. I really don't care for remakes. I like a particular show or movie because of the actors. A remake may even closely follow the original, but it's different people, so I can't get into it. For example, I certainly liked the original Star Trek, but I wasn't crazy about TNG or Deep Space Nine, Voyager or Enterprise. I think they were generally pretty good, and were popular, but I just didn't get anything out of them.
When they make a different story with different people, I pretty much am not interested. I haven't seen all the Star Trek movies, but one notable exception was the 2009 Star Trek, with Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. I did like that one. It supposedly defined the original formation of the Star Trek crew (Bones, Uhura, Scotty, Checkov and Sulu.) The actors were close enough to the original Star Trek that I could pretty easily believe it. I'll probably watch that new one, but won't subscribe to anything to watch follow-on's.
I can resist everything except temptation.
