Suicide Squad is the next one for me just as soon as I get back from Spain. My Spanish isn't good enough to see the dubbed version over here! The reviews are interesting as the critics seem to be panning it but everyone I know that's seen it say they enjoyed it. i think it may have suffered in the editing suite though as the first cut was considered too serious and they wanted more humour. The good news is that they're already talking about a Joker/Harley Quinn spin off.

Star Trek was a decent enough film and a pretty decent way to celebrate 50 years although the opening section with the tiny, silly fighting aliens annoyed me!

Loads more coming out over the next few months so it looks like I'll be getting good use out of my Unlimited card :yeahbaby:

I saw Suicide Squad today and enjoyed it. I thought it was better than the critics are making it out to be. Thought Margot Robie did a great job as Harley Quinn.

I thought Suicide Squad wasn't nearly as bad as the critics were making it out to be. I Love Jared Leto and thought he did a fantastic job as the joker for the whole couple minutes of screen time he got and I know every living creature with a penis is in lust for Harley Quinn :) Found the "ending" a little draggy to start then just kinda MEH ... but I'd watch it again.

Saw Pete's Dragon Friday.

Bring tissues if you plan to see it at the theater .... unless you have no heart, then you'll be just fine.

Even caught the teenager wiping his eyes ... and he doesn't cry during ANY movie ... none ... Not Marley and Me (which I've refused to see bc I know how it ends), Old Yeller, NOTHING!

Movie night at my buddy's house tonight. We watched Criminal and there was so much wrong with this movie, it was hilarious. How is something with Kevin Costner, Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman, Gal Godot and Tommy Lee Jones this bad? Maybe it's just because we're nerds and they got every single bit of science-related stuff wrong. Maybe if we weren't laughing at stuff like "ripping a wormhole into the deep web" we could have enjoyed it. But it just seemed like bad Bourne fanfiction with a $30MM budget.

On the upside, 'I'll rip your deep web a new wormhole' is totally a new epithet we'll be using amongst ourselves. Also, as with everything we've watched, it was still a better love story than Twilight.

I love when a movie makes no sense as far as the science goes. I was watching (well, fell asleep, so started watching - AGAIN) the 2nd Star Trek movie ... and there's a point when they're in outer space and they stop the warp speed on a dime and everyone falls forward a little bit ... ummm... in reality, I think nearly everyone would be dead!!!

Also just saw Kubo and the Two Strings the other night. Gotta say I thought it was great. You expect what happens, for the most part. The animation was different which made it interesting. All in all, I could see where a kid might find it a bit scary (though mine didn't) ... but I enjoyed it :)

Will certainly look out for that one. We saw War Dogs yesterday which was a really enjoyable film. Considering it's a film about international arms dealers it's got some really funny, laugh out loud moments. I'd definitely recommend it.

I plan on seeing Sully when it comes out next month, but that's about the extent of my movie viewing lately. We all know the very heroic story. Previews seem to indicate that there were some issues later on that we never heard about, such as Congress or someone asking why he ditched in the Hudson, stating that he could have made to back to La Guardia. Armchair quarterbacks (and pilots) always fascinate me. They always know more than the people directly involved.

But I'm betting that if you put them in the pilot seat, they'd mainly just shit their pants.

That's really interesting, I thought I saw a programme where the NTSB ran simulations and the plane only made it back to the airport 50% of the time. Bearing in mind, the pilots went through the correct checklist in the event of a birdstrike there was really no other option for them. Ballsy bit of flying whichever way you look at it.

I'll look forward to that one though whenever it makes its way over here.

When serious things are happening that fast, you don't take chances, you take the safest option you can. Seems like I heard he considered trying to return, but felt safer heading for the Hudson. After all, he had 200 some odd people to worry about, plus people on the ground. If some idiot hadn't opened the rear door, the plane would have stayed higher in the water longer. But, as we know, everyone made it out. I was at home watching TV that day and saw it from the first reports. I remember sitting in my living room cheering as they reported that all were accounted for.

I thought War Dogs was pretty funny as well. Not what you'd expect! But pretty decent movie ... Love movies based on "real life"

I'm going to see "Sully" tomorrow. I'm wondering if it will be all that great. I mean, we all remember the heroic landing in the Hudson and even more heroic rescue of everyone on board. But, what is left after that? Previews look like there might be a fair amount of courtroom drama, and that can quickly get boring.

But I love heroic stories. I was watching the day it happened and saw the reports as they occurred. I actually sat right here and cheered as they announced that they had everyone. America really needed that shot in the arm at that time. So, I'll go see the movie and let you know what I think.

I saw The Disappointment Room yesterday ... left it wondering ... but won't say what as it just came out and who knows who plans to see it, if anyone. It was literally me and my kiddo in the theater yesterday! Interesting "dark" movie though.

Just got back from watching Sully. I'd read it had very mixed reviews while on a plane Monday. I watched it as if was happening on the TV in 2009 ... so was interesting to follow along with the story in the theater. If you go to watch it, stay ... the actual pilot and crew make their appearances during the credits. I enjoyed the movie. It's not a feel good movie. It's also not a tissue fest, but you don't walk out of it feeling super cheery.

I feel as though I've seen a bunch of movies since the last time I chimed in.... let's see if I can recall them all!

Saw The Accountant which had terrible reviews. Thought it was pretty good. Could have done more with it for sure, but it was already over 2 hours long as it was.

Saw The Girl On The Train. Not at all what I expected. There were some twists. One I expected, one I most certainly didn't see coming. It's one of those movies where unless you read about it before going to see it (I AM NOT THAT PERSON!!!), you don't really know what to expect.

Saw Miss Peregrine's Home for Particular Children. Cute movie. Little one didn't find it frightening which it easily could have done. I'm sure there will be more as it's based on a series of books.

Deepwater Horizon was intense!

Storks was really cute. Cuter than the previews made it.

Middle School The Worst Years of My Life - had a major twist I did NOT see coming!

Max Steel - another horrible rated movie but I enjoyed it. I' have a feeling if they made enough money, there will be more.

Don't Breathe (if I hadn't mentioned that previously) I saw twice in the theater. Craziness. Just Craziness!

Bridget Jone's Baby - I never saw any of the originals, but mom wanted to see this so I went with her. Cute MOVIE. ONLY in the movies do you have two completely perfectly perfect men TRYING to be the baby daddy!

When Then Bough Breaks saw by myself. Seen this movie a hundred times with other ppl as the main characters, but I enjoy the movies, so whatever lol.

Hell or High water I'd not even heard of before I saw it. WOW! JUST WOW! Fantastic movie!!!

Went to see Inferno tonight and really enjoyed it. They changed a few things from the book (no spoilers). They did a pretty good job with it, but then by the time he wrote this book, Dan Brown had stopped writing novels and was writing 'novels to be turned into screenplays' so it would have been difficult to fuck it up too much. Not sure how it will screen to someone who hasn't read the book, but there are some good twists. I was surprised how much of it I remembered considering that I read the book right after it came out. Made me hope that they eventually do a movie for the Lost Symbol.

I just got back from seeing Doctor Strange. I really enjoyed it. One of the best Marvel movies so far. Benedict Cumberbatch was excellent (as usual). Definitely worth seeing.

I saw Inferno and though I'd not read the book, I really enjoyed the movie. Found it predictable at times, but most movies are when you spend a lot of time watching movies :)
