One morning last week when i was about to take the 2 bigger dogs for a run, Loki killed a rabbit in the yard. Don't know why they keep coming into our yard! Wouldn't they smell all the marking by the dogs and stay away? Glad at least it was quick! She snapped it's neck in a few seconds.... This morning she caught a snake! Remember a few years ago (in GA) when she almost died when she was bit by a copperhead? I guess she doesn't remember either.... No signs of slowing down for that 14 year old jack! Well she has slowed down, she kind of limps a bit in the mornings when she first gets up and hobbles down the stairs to the yard.... but it hasn't affected her hunting skills!

That Loki is still a great hunter..I can't imagine what would happen if Taz got hold of a rabbit or a squirrel. He tries to get his paws on them when we go to my work yard and I let him loose. Thanks Gawd that the rabbits are quicker than Taz is.

Fred couldn't catch a rabbit on a bet. When I take him out to the desert to run around, he runs all over the place, sniffing and looking. If I see a rabbit scamper off, I'll call Fred. He'll just keep on sniffing. I'll point and say, "Over here, Fred. A Rabbit! Come on, Fred. Over here." He'll look up, then continue running off in the other direction. Where's that great sense of smell he's supposed to have?
Personaly, I don't think he could catch a cold.

Time for an update, this guy is getting big! His owners say they have a hard time keeping him behaved, but I have him following me around on walks without even holding onto the leash. He stays right at my side, ignores most distractions and pays attention to my commands without protest. Meanwhile all the ladies at work are telling me I'm so good with him that I need to get a dog of my own. While pet ownership is not really an option for me currently, I'm enjoying being the fun uncle.

Lucky dog! They should all be so lucky as to have an uncle like you!

Thank you Vicki,
Bridgit might be 12 but she still got the herding moves. She has become like a puppy again since getting out of the Texas heat. Indy is liking the snow I was worried. Now we have not dropped below zero yet. Hopefully we can go on a long hike this weekend the tundra restriction has been lifted. The caribou have passed through and hunting is over.

Bridgit is starting to show her age of 13 now. On our walk last evening it was only 5 pm and pitch dark with a temperature of 0 F. We made out 30 minutes and she was so ready to head home fast. Which was good because stupid me only wore jeans and rain pants, so my legs felt heavy and cold. It was really pretty watching the moon rise over the mountain.

So once in a while my good buddy Taz gets a treat after a great walk or when we had a fantastic day..I'll break off a chunk of delicious duck stick for him to enjoy. I usually break it into thirds so that it lasts a little longer...damn duck sticks are expensive.
So I leave 2/3 of a stick on the ledge by the back door so that when I get home Taz and I can play some ball and then get a treat...well drool-face Taz beat me to it and helped himself to his own treat yesterday. Kinda like me when I haven't really deserved anything but I still cut myself a huge piece of cake.
So to that I say "good show dog....good show"
