Last week before heading out to atlanta i asked dave to change the lightbulb outside the office door. It had been burnt out for quite a while. He came back in and said "no can do!"
This is why! Anyone know what kind of bird this is? I guess we'll have chicks soon!

Not sure, but now that you mention it, I do hear cooing outside the window all day long. It's actually a nice gentle relaxing sound.

Not sure Vicky - but roasted for about 20 - 30 mins with some nice sage and onion and I bet it will be delicious!

Yeah. That's a dove. We actually have one, lol. Cause it injured itself by falling out of a nest and we tried to rehabilitate it and release it and it injured itself again. xD So now, it's a house bird. Lol.
Show me your kitties. >:D

Another possibility is to debone it and make a curry - or a pie!
Seriously it does look like some form of pigeon

Vicky, that is a pigeon! They like to build nests in places like that and his head and beak is more like a pigeon than a dove. A dove is more refined than this bird. We shoot them around here cause they carry lice and diseases so be careful if you are cleaning up after it just in case I am right and it is a pigeon. PeterL can eat the bird but I would not touch it with a ten foot pole! lol

I still maintain that it is a Mourning Dove. I have them in my back yard at my feeders regularly. The light blue around the eyes and the rather dull greyish/purplish coloring of the feathers are what I go by. Pigeons are more colorful, bigger and dirtier; that is why some city-dwellers refer to them as flying rats. Also, when Mourning Doves take flight, there are feathers in their wings that generate a high pitched, almost whistle-like sound.

I think you're bang on Viper with your Mourning Dove guess...but if you want to talk about flying rats, I give you the Magpie:
Brazen, bold, noisy, brash, aggressive flying douchebags...the magpie. If you don't have them where you are, you are lucky. These bastards will get you up @ 5:00 in the morning and laugh about it to their friends.

One for sorrow and all that - they are a real nuisance.
Do you guys have the superstition that if you see a single Magpie you are supposed to say "Morning Mr Magpie, how's your wife?" to ward off bad luck?

Back to main point of this thread - you could make pate from the liver, and perhaps a nice satay with peanut sauce!
