Some Astute Observations from an old man (From an email I received)

The closest I ever got to a 4.0 in college was my blood alcohol content.

I live in my own little world, but it's OK. Everyone knows me here.

I saw a very large woman wearing a sweatshirt with "Guess" on it. I said, "Left Tackle?"

I don't do drugs. I find I get the same effect just by standing up really fast.

I don't like political jokes. I've seen too many get elected.

The most precious thing we have is life, yet it has absolutely no trade-in value.

If life deals you lemons, make lemonade. If life deals you tomatoes, make Bloody Marys.

Shopping tip: You can get shoes for a buck at bowling alleys.

Every day I beat my previous record of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

No one ever says, "It's only a game!" when their team's winning.

Ever notice that people who spend money on beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets are always complaining about being broke and not feeling well?

Isn't having a smoking section in a restaurant like having a peeing section in a swimming pool?

Marriage changes passion. Suddenly you're in bed with a relative.

Snowmen fall from Heaven unassembled.

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose fitting clothing, I wouldn't need the freakin' class!

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

My first real girlfriend. 1961. I was 18, she was about the same. This was an El Paso Explorer Scout Ball. Georgia was elected our post Sweetheart. She was actually a year ahead of me, so it didn't really last too long, lol.

Have we really sunk this low? (Trick question. Obviously, the answer is yes.)

From USA Today:

HARTFORD, Conn - A white former Connecticut university student accused of smearing body fluids on her black roommates belongings has avoided a hate crimes charge. Prosecutors did not file additional charges Monday against Brianna Brochu, 18. Police say the former University of Hartford student wrote on Instagram in October about rubbing used tampons on her roommates backpack and putting her tooth brush "where the sun doesn't shine."

(Walt) Now, she was stupid enough to do such a filthy (and medically dangerous) thing, but I guess it was ludicrous to expect her to gain sufficient intelligence NOT to admit the deed to the world on Instagram. She basically screwed herself.

Stupid idiot.

This is pretty bizarre stuff. With no charges filed. This girl probably had a rough childhood.

Want to have a great vacation experience? Head to Denver. This used to be beautiful city. But since being turned into a public toilet, I'm not so sure.

It was precisely 12 years ago, as of a couple hours ago (8:42 PM, Dec 31st, 2005,) that I hauled out the old Wallet, joined VickyatHome.com and signed up for the forum.

Sometime earlier in 2005, maybe August or September, I saw a video of Vicky Vette on the internet. I didn't even really believe that was her name. I figured it was a stage name, as I was sure that all of the ladies operated under stage names. I figured that Vicky Vette was a name that was maybe made up for that shoot, and that my chances of finding more of her were slim. So, I fiddled around a bit, and, in September or October, I found her site. I was pleasantly surprised. Boy! There was something about her. Sure, there were other pretty ladies out there, but something really struck me about Vicky. So I was happy to actually find her site.

I looked around the site and, after a while, decided to look at the forum. Some of her regulars were Bossman, TonyD and Benny. Benny was her graphical artist. There were pictures of her and the guys down on The Strand in, I think Venice Beach or Santa Monica, roller skating and clowning around. The Strand is mainly a wide sidewalk that runs along the beach thru the beach cities of LA, (Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach, Muscle Beach, etc,) between the beach and the rest of the world. There are all kind of shops along the Strand - food, bicycle and skate rental, surfboard shops, shirt shops, pretty much anything beach related that you want.

Another member was "Roger Federer," a rather self involved member, that thought Vicky didn't answer him enough, or quick enough or something. His comments got a bit edgier and angrier, and he finally left. I'm guessing that no one was sorry. :lmao:

The guys were cool and the comments were always funny. Vicky was there every day, too (just like today,) and she was chiming in with everyone else. Finally, i couldn't stand it any more. I couldn't comment on the forum, as I wasn't a member. So, at 8:42, Dec 31st, 2005, I whipped out the old CC and joined the site, and the forum.

I certainly wasn't just going to blast in there, so I made a comment here and there, when I felt motivated, (if you can believe that, LOL.) The membership seemed to accept me, so I started feeling bolder, and more at home and a part of the crowd. Then, In late December/early January, Vicky decided that she was going to feature dance, and would be starting in Wichita, Kansas. She, as always, asked any members in the area to come see her.

For some reason I still don't understand, I thought, "I'm going to go meet her." I had never tried something so bold in my life. But I was retired, foot-loose and fancy-free, and could do what I wanted. So, come Thursday, I packed up the old hot rod and headed East.

To keep the story shorter, suffice it to say I went to the club early, and was there when she came in. I walked up and introduced myself. She was, of course, gracious and pleasant. We sat down and chatted for awhile until she had to go get ready for her first dance.

At this time, she was still "The Viking Vixen," complete with outfit and Viking helmet. Remember, this was pre-Rokkerr (I met her first, Rokkerr, :signhammer: ) and pre-VNA. Between sets, she was at a table in a raised area, taking polaroid pictures with everyone for $10 a shot. I went up and got mine (still have it,) and, for the rest of the evening, just hung around. When Vicky came out to dance, it was something to see. Not only is she a great dancer, but, I mean she woke that club UP. I don't remember what songs she chose, but they were good,, hard driving rock and roll. The customers were 3 deep at the railing throwing money at her. It was truly a sight to see.

If you've ever frequented strip clubs you know that, when the lights go up, they throw you out, no questions. Vicky was back upstairs taking pictures. I wanted to say good bye but they wouldn't let me. "Wait for her outside." After a few minutes in my car, I started thinking, "I don't know how long she will be, or even if she'll come out the front door. So I decided my best bet was to just go back to my hotel.

Once I got there, I decided to call her. She had given me her number earlier. I didn't want her to think I was just another slob who "met the big star," got drunk and went home. I was impressed with meeting her and wanted her to know why I didn't say good by. I got her machine, of course, so I left a message explaining, and said I would be back Saturday.

A few minutes later, I got a call. It was Vicky. Color me surprised. So we chatted a bit and I repeated my story. I told her, "I know they provide your rides but, if there's any problem, I'd be glad to give you a ride home." Turns out a couple of the girls were fighting, and she said, "You know what? I have no idea how long they'll be busy with this. Would you mind?" Before I could finish saying "Of course not," I was out the door, in my car and pulling out of the parking lot, tires squealing. :signhammer:

She felt like eating, so we found a Denny's, and had a very cool dinner (omelet's, actually, lol) and then I took her home. We decided she'd call me when she got up and we'd go eat breakfast. She did, and we did. She wanted to go to the gym, so she convinced me to come along. Later I took her back to her hotel to rest up for the night, and I went home as well. I went to the club that night, we chatted some more, and she danced. I had to leave early the next morning, so I finally said my good-byes, and left.

But we stayed in touch. From there, she went to LA, where she met some bloody English bloke who proceeded to cut me right out of the picture. :lmao:  But, as time went on, she liked to have member get togethers. Since I was free to travel, I would go to them. There are videos of her ski weekend in Gatlinburg https://www.vickyathome.com/members/con ... section=49 and her Aids Walk Atlanta weekend, This is also where i first met Sara Jay. https://www.vickyathome.com/members/con ... section=49 Somewhere in there was also a 2 week trip I took to Michigan, then headed down I-75 to Atlanta and see Vicky and Rokkerr. We met at a restaurant, had dinner, and I ended up going to their house with them. Vicky wanted to go get her mail, so she jumped into the old Black Vette, and I followed her into whatever suburb her mailbox was located in. We had Starbucks and spent some chat time together, and finally she headed home and I headed West. toward dry and dusty ole El Paso.

From there, I went to whatever conventions she was appearing at, usually LA or Las Vegas, and we always had a little time for a meal or something. A good, close friendship developed, and here I find myself today, 12 years later, as content as anyone could be.

It has been one helluva ride with Vicky. I am proud to know her and honored to be a part of her world. She lets me help out here on the forum a bit, and I am glad to do so. I have learned a few things about her systems, and try to help out where I can.

Thank you, Vicky, for all you do for us. You are truly a unique person. You don't have a mean bone in your body, and you love every one you meet. The last 12 years have been truly fantastic and adventurous for me, and I can't say enough how lucky we all are that 13 or so years ago, you decided you wanted to share your life, and started your great adventure. We who share with you are the lucky ones, and, I, for one, can't say enough how much fun it's been sharing with you.

Thank you for caring for us.

I'm so bad, I only just saw this, lol... this is in the "news that is fit to print" thread? Well at least I'm glad it's not in the "WTF" thread.....

Was that the first feature dance gig I did after my husband at the time OD'd? I was on my own, making my own decisions for the first time and I did pretty well! (I still carried mace with me everywhere though, and figured I could take you, lol... )

We need to do more member get togethers! That's the one thing I hate about not doing Adultcon, it was a good place for everyone to meet and hang out. Oh well, we will have Exxxotica Miami, and Julia's Jamaica, and Tampa Nightmoves, and other events too.

Walt I really do appreciate all your help with the forum and cam schedule. You are amazingly technical! I'm super impressed how you have learned and grasped it all! A lot of people can't! Including a lot of the models, lol...

"Was that the first feature dance gig I did after my husband at the time OD'd?" Yes, it was.

"(I still carried mace with me everywhere though, and figured I could take you, lol... )" Even then I was all ready a bit crippled (arthritis in my knees.) I'm betting you could have, too, but I was never tempted to find out :lmao:

I think that's what started the whole thing off, when you decided to trust this old goat and let him give you a ride home. (you had your hand in your purse on that mace the whole time, didn't you? :signhammer: ) We had a nice dinner/breakfast, and another later in the day. And, here we are.

You seem to get around enough to conventions and places to meet many of your members. I do remember Gatlinburg and Aids Walk Atlanta, tho. Those were great fun as well. For those of you who haven't gone to meet Vicky somewhere yet, you are missing out BIG time. I can't be any more serious. You want to have a good and memorable time? Get to a convention or get-together where Vicky is appearing, and join in the fun. You will meet other VNA ladies as well, you will have dinner with them all, and you will take home memories that will last you a lifetime. These are not just anonymous get-togethers where you get to wander around and ogle half-naked women. These are events where you are invited in, and you get to join in the fun, get to hang out and dine with some pretty fantastic people. You need to save your nickles, and you need to get there.

Walt - Being technologically inclined and, being 74 and having 50 years of technology to look back on (plus realizing what my parents saw in their lifetimes (1914 - 1997,)) I believe every word of this. I have no doubt this is where we are headed.

The FUTURE is approaching faster than one can handle....!

In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of all photo paper worldwide. Within just a few years, their business model disappeared and they went bankrupt. What happened to Kodak will happen in a lot of industries in the next 10 years and, most people won't see it coming. (Walt - Polaroid - remember them?)
Did you think in 1998 that 3 years later you would never take pictures on film again?

Yet digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first ones only had 10,000 pixels, but followed Moore 's law. So as with all exponential technologies, it was a disappointment for a time, before it became way superior and became mainstream in only a few short years. It will now happen again with Artificial Intelligence, health, autonomous and electric cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture and jobs. Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Welcome to the Exponential Age.

Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years.

Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world.

Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties.

Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go-player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected.

In the US , young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM's Watson, you can get legal advice (so far for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared with 70% accuracy when done by humans. So if you study law, stop immediately. There will be 90% less lawyers in the future, only specialists will remain.

Watson already helps nurses diagnosing cancer, its 4 times more accurate than human nurses.

Facebook now has a pattern recognition software that can recognize faces better than humans. In 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans. ( NEVER!/Albert)

Autonomous cars : In 2018 the first self driving cars will appear for the public. Around 2020, the complete industry will start to be disrupted. You don't want to own a car anymore. You will call a car with your phone, it will show up at your location and drive you to your destination. You will not need to park it, you only pay for the driven distance and can be productive while driving.

Our kids will never get a driver's licence and will never own a car.

It will change the cities, because we will need 90-95% less cars for that. We can transform former parking spaces into parks.

1.2 million people die each year in car accidents worldwide. We now have one accident every 60,000 mi (100,000 km), with autonomous driving that will drop to 1 accident in 6 million mi (10 million km). That will save a million lives each year. (ONE MILLION EXTRA PEOPLE TO FEED)

Most car companies will probably become bankrupt. Traditional car companies try the evolutionary approach and just build a better car, while tech companies (Tesla, Apple, Google) will do the revolutionary approach and build a computer on wheels. Many engineers from Volkswagen and Audi; are completely terrified of Tesla. Electric cars will become mainstream about 2020. Cities will be less noisy because all new cars will run on electricity.

Insurance companies will have massive trouble because without accidents, the insurance will become 100x cheaper. Their car insurance business model will disappear.

Real estate will change. Because if you can work while you commute, people will move further away to live in a more beautiful neighborhood.

Electricity will become incredibly cheap and clean: Solar production has been on an exponential curve for 30 years, but you can now see the burgeoning impact.

Last year, more solar energy was installed worldwide than fossil. Energy companies are desperately trying to limit access to the grid to prevent competition from home solar installations, but that can't last. Technology will take care of that strategy.

With cheap electricity comes cheap and abundant water. Desalination of salt water now only needs 2kWh per cubic meter (@0.25 cents). We don't have scarce water in most places, we only have scarce drinking water. Imagine what will be possible if anyone can have as much clean water as he wants, for nearly no cost.

Health: The Tricorder X price will be announced this year. There are companies who will build a medical device (called the "Tricorder" from Star Trek) that works with your phone, which takes your retina scan, your blood sample and you breath into it.

It then analyses 54 bio-markers that will identify nearly any disease.. It will be cheap, so in a few years everyone on this planet will have access to world class medical analysis, nearly for free. Goodbye, medical establishment.

3D printing: The price of the cheapest 3D printer came down from $18,000 to $400 within 10 years. In the same time, it became 100 times faster. All major shoe companies have already started 3D printing shoes.

Some spare airplane parts are already 3D printed in remote airports. The space station now has a printer that eliminates the need for the large amount of spare parts they used to have in the past.

At the end of this year, new smart phones will have 3D scanning possibilities. You can then 3D scan your feet and print your perfect shoe at home.

In China, they already 3D printed and built a complete 6-storey office building. By 2027, 10% of everything that's being produced will be 3D printed.

Business opportunities: If you think of a niche you want to go in, first ask yourself: "In the future, do I think we will have that?" and if the answer is yes, how can you make that happen sooner?

If it doesn't work with your phone, forget the idea. And any idea designed for success in the 20th century is doomed to failure in the 21st century.

Work : 70-80% of jobs will disappear in the next 20 years. There will be a lot of new jobs, but it is not clear if there will be enough new jobs in such a short time. This will require a rethink on wealth distribution.

Agriculture : There will be a $100 agricultural robot in the future. Farmers in 3rd world countries can then become managers of their field instead of working all day on their fields.

Aeroponics will need much less water. The first Petri dish produced veal, is now available and will be cheaper than cow produced veal in 2018. Right now, 30% of all agricultural surfaces is used for cows. Imagine if we don't need that space anymore.

There are several startups who will bring insect protein to the market shortly. It contains more protein than meat. It will be labeled as "alternative protein source" (because most people still reject the idea of eating insects).

There is an app called "moodies" which can already tell in which mood you’re in. By 2020 there will be apps that can tell by your facial expressions, if you are lying. Imagine a political debate where it's being displayed when they’re telling the truth and when they’re not.

Us old fuckers have to make adjustments in life (don't worry. You'll find out, lol.) We don't always hit the mark.

I was in a coffee shop recently when my stomach started rumbling and I realized that I desperately needed to fart. The place was packed but the music was really loud so, to get relief and reduce embarrassment, I timed my farts to the beat of the music. After a couple of songs I started to feel much better.

I finished my coffee and noticed that everyone was staring at me.

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my IPod.

This is what happens when senior citizens use technology!
I can resist everything except temptation.
