This is ridiculous. I realize there is bullying that can take place on online gaming platforms, but as the article highlights, who decides what is offensive? How is it offensive to say 'fuck' if the other person in the conversation isn't offended?

Or how can female nudity be offensive if the guy participating paid to jerk off to it?

I saw that Craigslist closed its personals section over this law, which itself is ridiculous. Hopefully someone like the ACLU will challenge the constitutionality of this law.

I'll still Skype with you :yeahbaby:

I've been paying close attention to these developments.

In addition to FOSTA/SESTA, US Congress just passed the CLOUD Act which got piggybacked into the Omnibus spending bill last week. CLOUD (Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data) regulates how U.S. law enforcement officials can access data stored overseas. With CLOUD in effect, U.S. law enforcement officials at any level, from local police to federal agents, can force tech companies to turn over user data regardless of where the company stores the data. Additionally, this act gives the executive branch the ability to enter into executive agreements with foreign nations, which could allow each participating nation to get its hands on user data stored in the other country, no matter the hosting nation’s privacy laws. Information gathered in this way which is deemed ambiguously as "significant harm" (pornography is a public health crisis anyone?) can be shared between partnered nations.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2018/03/n ... -cloud-act

I would not be surprised if FOSTA/SESTA/CLOUD gets challenged eventually, but online privacy is definitely becoming more and more difficult to maintain. Following sex worker Twitter, I'm seeing lots of recommendations and maneuvering taking place for offshore web hosting, burner phones, zero-knowledge encrypted cloud storage, VPN+TOR, offshore encrypted email, anonymous cryptocurrency transactions, foreign bank accounts - the whole 9 yards. Even with all these operational security precautions in place, this sounds like an uphill battle.

Makes me feel like Pablo Escobar knowing about all this stuff when really all I want to do is watch consenting naked women getting their rocks off on the internet....

Hey Boys & Girls, I have found an artikel on the German Golem.com page that says that Microsoft changed their Terms & Conditions for their Cloud-Services, as Skype, Onedrive... etc ... that way, that pornograpgic content is not allowed anymore!

In Detail >>> quote]Section 3(a)(iv):
Don’t publicly display or use the Services to share inappropriate content or material (involving, for example, nudity, bestiality, pornography, offensive language, graphic violence, or criminal activity).

[/quote]

This guy found some more interessting facts which makes You to a victim of pure arbitrariness of Mircosoft's censorship..

Just driving everyone underground is going to make things for real victims of sex trafficking even worse. The FBI even disagreed with this bill. They do stings to find child predators in chatrooms, if they take away the chatrooms the FBI will have no way to find the perpetrators. It's a bad decision all the way around. It doesn't protect anyone, it hurts real sex workers and real victims. It's all BS PR just to make people feel good, all smoke and mirrors, nothing really being done to solve a problem, in fact it's going to make the problems worse. My opinion.

I fully agree. Sites are all ready clamping down on what you can post, taking away your freedom to post what you want. And there is so much more to it that people know nothing about. This entire effort should be rescinded immediately.
