I posted this on my FB page, then decided I wanted it here, too.

Inspired by an episode of Twilight Zone named "Kick the Can" (Marathon on the SyFy channel today, Dec 31st.)

New Years resolutions? I don't do those. I used to. Well, kinda. I'd mouth off a couple things, then immediately forget them, lol. You know what I like to do now? Remember!

Go back. Way back. Remember playing kick the can? Remember running thru the sprinkler? Fun days, those. Remember drinking from the hose? I remember picking pecans up from the ground around our tree so Mom could make a pecan pie.

I remember riding my bike all over the neighborhood. I remember playing in the creek (They've cemented the walls in at that old creek now, so that, if a kid gets too close to look, he'll trip and fall in and smash his head on the concrete bottom. (it's about a 8' drop now.) This is what we call "progress" these days.)

So many happy memories. How sad would it be if all I had to remember is sitting on a couch playing video games? Never to play with my friends, never to run thru the woods being Robin Hood and his merry men? Never to ride the streets on our bikes, playing cops and robbers? Never to fish for crawdads in that creek with a bent pin and a piece of bacon?

No, I am happy I was born when I was. I am happy I had the family that I did. I remember all the fun things we did. I remember playing marbles. I wanted to teach my son how to play marbles. Never got around to that one.

No resolutions? Yes, if you can do that and stick to it, you're doing a good thing. But, I think I want to go out and play Kick the Can. I've been lucky as hell. Rough times, for sure. We've all had them. But we've all grown up to be good and decent people. And, generally? We're happy.

I'm thankful for all the friends I've ever had. You all have had a part in molding me, making me who I am. And I'm thankful to you for that. I remember Heather. I remember Tinker. I remember Jimmy Starr. I remember Roger and Charlie and Al. And, yes, I remember Nita and Janie and Sonny. I remember it all. And I owe you all for who I am today.

May you all have a wonderful, warm, prosperous and Happy New Year. I love you all.

New Years Resolutions I don't do them either.

Watch WWE Raw last night (it had been taped over the weekend so I knew the results but still watch) then I went to sleep right after which is unusual for me, so missed all the let's blow the neighborhood up stuff.

Woke up today to the nicest email this morning that made everything feel so different. So Happy New Years Walt and everyone.

I remember, Walter, doing some of those things, when I was a kid and also, actually going out to play with friends, games, bike riding, fishing etc. unlike now, they stay inside, involved in computer games etc on their own. Anyway, I do, also, wish everyone, a Happy and great New Year 2019. As far as resolutions for the year are concerned, I agree with Vicky. I love eating chocolate, and sweets in general, cheesecake etc. and sexual activity is a given.

I don’t even bother with resolutions anymore. I always start out so well but end up breaking them. Vicky has one I think we all can stick to, MORE SEX. Now that I can do.
