Today is the 40th Anniversary of the World's first bungee jump.
It was a Brit wot done it!.
The guy was called David Kirke and was a member of Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club.
For the record, the jump was made from the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.
Here was certainly a sin worth sinning and I applied myself with characteristic vigour to its practice

More wonderful Scandinavian trivia - especially for the Viking Goddess (you know who you are Vicky)!

A Swedish mile (sevens mil) is actually 10 Km (6.2 miles) .

In Norway a lollipop is called Kjaerlighet pa pinne , which literally means "Love on a stick"; as in "Hej, can I have love on a stick?"

In Scandinavia, you call your maternal grandmother (mother's mother) - mormon (mother- mother); and your maternal grandfather mortar (mother-father).
Your paternal grandparents are forfar (grandfather) and farmor (grandmother).
