What makes you smile?
I know you’re listening.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends (and foes).

A few interesting facts about the USA that you may want to think about today ........

1/ Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the US Treasury.
2/ Coca Cola was originally green
3/ The state where the highest percent of the population walk to work - yep Dr D - Alaska
4/ The average number of people airborne over the USA in any given hour - 61,000
5/ The first novel written on a typewriter - Tom Sawyer.
6/ The San Francisco cable cars are the only mobile National Monuments.
7/ Only 2 people signed the US Declaration of Independence on the 4th July, John Hancock & Charles Thomson.
Most of the others signed on 2nd August, but the last signature wasn't added until 5 years later!
8/ Half of all Americans live within 50 miles of their birth place.

Seriously, enjoy the day!

OR, Enjoy the day seriously!
Here was certainly a sin worth sinning and I applied myself with characteristic vigour to its practice

Happy Thanksgiving to all of y'all south of the border. Hope you all have a safe and fun time with family and friends, weather notwithstanding.

Another piece of America trivia (since PeterL started the topic):

The first ever international cricket match (and actually the first international match of ANY sport) was a game in 1844 between the United States of America vs the British Empire's Canadian Province. It was played at the St. Georges' Cricket Club at what is now 30th Street and Broadway for those of you familiar with NYC. Canada won by 23 runs, (which in cricketing terms is a fairly slim margin of victory).
