As some of you may know I will be in LA from Jan 13 to 17 for the XBiz Conference and Awards.

I have been asked to host a panel on "The State of the Industry". They have chosen some heavy hitters for me to interview and ask questions of! The leaders of Video Secrets, Chaturbate, MojoHost, Kink.com and more.

The State of the Industry
As we gaze out at the horizon of a new decade, thought leaders and visionaries alike share their expert opinions and predictions for the years to come in this exclusive, must-attend panel, touching on the biggest trends facing the industry today.

Date: Wednesday, January 15
Time: 5-5:50PM
Location: Studio 4 (2nd floor)
Moderator: Vicky Vette, vicky@vettenationlive.com

What do you guys feel are the biggest currents hitting our industry right now? What should I ask them about? I know they will just try to turn it into some self promotion for the companies they run, so I would like to hear from you guys!

VR? The increase in suicides? 5K video? Privacy? Flash being end of life with nothing stable to replace it? More government restrictions (porn is a public health crisis). Robotic toys and sex dolls? Testing practices? Our new union.
:yeahbaby: Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

I think you "pegged" it in your last paragraph (excuse the expression, lol.) I have a couple of thoughts, but you are much more involved in the core industry and, I believe, have a pretty good feel for what is right and what is wrong in the industry. You're also quite intelligent, which gives you a unique position to be able to speak the truth about the problems the industry faces.

Suicides are always an important agenda. We need the people we have here. Everyone should be able to be happy and comfortable in whatever industry, whatever life and/or lifestyle they choose to follow. As far as the industry is concerned, yes, there have been a few young women who's problems just got to be too much. And THAT is too much.

We all have difficulties in our lives. Several of our VNA ladies have had to deal with difficulties in their lives. Related to porn? Well, that I do not know. But, I want to be there for you. If you need to talk, you can PM or DM me for my number and we can talk. I know it's hard to ask for help, but If you are having really difficult problems, CALL someone - even the suicide prevention hot line 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

I guess that would be my suggestion, Vicky. Fifty minutes isn't really much time to devote to the agenda you mention. I hope they can get something useful out of it, disregarding those who don't get it, those who just want to use the platform for self-promotion. Those are the industry big-wigs who are more interested in themselves than the workers who are making them all them big dollars, while they continue to blow off the very people who are making them all that money.

And, of course, I think that all the subject matter you mention is important. Wish I could be there. This will be interesting.

How performers can survive with the hub sites and stolen content? I mean at least Pornhub while not the greatest has kind of tried to remedy it But yeah I like to know that especially with a lot companies buying out other companies lately. how can performers survive even with new laws popping up especially in California.

I don't think it will be truly fair until these companies begin paying performers a percentage of sales (residuals?) Music started out this way, until musicians got together and demanded fair treatment. Will that happen in porn? I don't know, but I know it's hard to get such a large group of people to stand up, band together, and effect change.

In pro wrestling it's hard to get change to happen, shoot, most things have been squashed because most won't band together and the ones that do get crushed. Speaking music the old way of music getting played for wrestling was you got a box of music that the companies sold as package deal so artists finally realized hey I'm not getting my fair share.

First of all; Happy making it through 2019 so that we can have another trip around the sun in the year 2020! I am not putting pressure on anyone by saying "make it a great year" or "make all your dreams come true in 2020." I will say be positive & laugh a lot, don't fret the small stuff, & avoid "sheople."
Serious topics - 50 minutes - Battle Plan
Your panel, establish direction of discussion, Keep it Simple, on Topic, keep it Civil, & be yourself.
Establish what you want to accomplish, maybe use the "Three Points to Ponder" rule (3 Goals; 3 goals for each goal, 3 goals for each goal of the 3 goals, and so on). Three Topics for consideration 1) Privacy for All. Wow, multi sided issue with many potential views in an everchanging technological environment. Whether to use the internet with all it's risks or stay away from it seems one-sided but we don't know what's ahead.
2) Role of Government. Three levels to consider (Federal, State, Local) along with International & Cyberworld. Things have turned Tribal in the US & One Person (Man) Rule / Conservative Nationalism around the world. Here, we are schizophrenic with moral issues which goes back to Colonialism (1600ish to Pre Revolutionary Period 1760'sish) and the creation of the Congregationalist Church in America in New England where"Blue Laws" such as no alcohol sales on Sunday, businesses closed on Sunday, along with Adult Entertainment among other things. Legislating Morality is not happening, never did, never will. People gonna do what they gonna do lol.
3) Health Issues/Unionization/Future Technology (Flash??). Insurance, Certification, Licenses, Organized Labor (??), Top Fortune 500 Businesses/Owners are lead by Tech Companies now.
Sounds like a whole lot for 50 minutes, lol.
Have fun, stay positive, & be safe. As Rodney Dangerfield said at the end of "Back To School" to the graduates, "It's a jungle out there, Get Layed!"

Congrats on hosting the panel! I can think of several questions that can be discussed.

VR has matured somewhat over the last decade, but continues to be a tiny niche of both porn and gaming. Do you see VR becoming a bigger thing in the next decade?

How can we make sex work safer in general? Can anything be done to help reduce the stigma? Why do financial institutions penalize sex workers more than other independents and self-employed people?

The future of studios? Camming? Sex toys? What trends are emerging? What will we be talking about in a few years that isn't even on the radar yet?

Vicky, u have good questions that i think need to be answered. Good questions Davest!
I know I would love to see people change about how they see people in porn, especially ladies, but it is so hard in this country. People think ladies who do sex work are dumb which they are not! They think they r forced, which they are not! And sex trafficking in not part of the porn industry!

Enjoy each day we are not promised tomorrow!
