I for sure hope no one does know anyone... what is your experience in Italy like day to day? Curious... is it as bad as the new reports? Are you able to function by going to the store etc?
I love Italy and it's depressing to see such a country the focal point of daily bad news... :(

I hear so many different things that even at a point I wonder if me and my family had it before they were diagnosing it, honestly the symptoms sound almost what we had, honestly I would hate to know that I gave it to anyone. Right now I don't know anyone who has it, I just know of a few people in the hotspot areas.

Yeah the situation is very drammatic where the spread starded, in Lombardia, 1st for infection and in Veneto. Before started to lock only the city, after the entire regions and in the end, two weeks later 11th March, the total Italy. More of infected are asymptomatic or have light symptoms, and they are in their home in isolation, after there are person with symptoms hospitalized, and some are in intensive care. So the big problems is few places in hospitals, above all who need intensive care, and slowly the maximum capacity is being reached. There are a very drammatic scenes where a lot of army trucks carry coffins from hospital of Bergamo, near Milan, or one doctor or nurse, don't remember, as work in hospital own in Bergamo he suicide, very sad stories. So i'm in central-south of Italy, and in my city and region this situation in much less drammatic like the north, but absolutely we don't relax. We can go out only for shopping essentials not too far from home, go in the hospital at worst, go to job, for who work in the industries that they produce everything related to basic necessities, and their are required security measures against coronavirus, otherwise they must remain closed. U can bring the dog out or do jogging, from now the parents can bring out their child, all possibly around the palace where u live, otherwise u must stay home. If u can out for this need, u must have a self-certification, made by the government and upgrade more of times, from 11th March, for new measures take. On this self-certification u say because are out of home, if it false or you're too much far to home without a valid reason, because we don't leave our city only who works out of city and the industry is open, and the police stop u for a check, u risk a fine until go to prison. Unfortunately there are more stupid person which instead stay home, they continued go out, and someday the numbers of infection and that of the fined was almost the same. Regarding me i don't suffer to much stay home, but obviously the situation is very heavy, for this I try to distract myself as much as possible, like everyone, so i watch tv, series tv, porn for relax me, play with videogames, listen much music, clean my room, sometimes help my mother to cook, and read or watch news one times a day, for have a report of the day and i avoid programms where talk of coronovirus because now I've had enough and i wouldn't make ko my mood. The blame of this are the italians journalists, that often go further. Ok do a right make information, but especially in this case must not exceed, but they did, and almost all day on the main channel talk only this, also because there are more persons are psychologically unstable, and someone can try to suicide. So the government is taking action in these days to provide economic support to families, mortgages and some taxes have also been stopped. Anyway in the last days the numbers of infection and dead have diminished, especially hospitalized and hospitalized in intensive care, and the numbers of healed increase but for the health authorities it's not too much, especially numbers of infection it's a bit high, and own tonight the quarantine continues until 13th. For the truth we know would continue, also after the 3rd, which was the first date set for the finish of quarantine. But i hope this is the way for comeback to normality, though this situation it will change of all us.

Thanks for the great post..

It does seem like Italy MIGHT be turning a corner... if you can call 700 deaths in a day turning a corner... and Spain now is seemingly going to be worse than you guys... all we hear every day in the USA is 'the death toll in Italy and Spain'....

I do think the relentless news of death death and more death.. is going too far. 90% of people get the virus, sit at home... and are fine (I think). It would be nice if we got some more positive news...

At least we all have some porn :yeahbaby:

Eric John and his doctor both think he has it. He has all the symptoms. His doctor is treating him virtually, as if he has it. But apparently there are no tests available. Which is really funny, because every day I see Trump on TV saying "anyone who wants a test can have a test". Yet 3 people I know, one of whom is a doctor himself here in town, wanted a test, found that tests were NOT available.

No one I know has it that we know of. I was reading that in some cases the only symptom people who have had it had was the sudden loss of sense of smell and taste. Some people could have it and we just wont know because they dont show symptoms.

In a Orlando today the drive through testing site was at capacity for the day after the first seven minutes.

This piece is absolutely the best I’ve read from COVID coverage and I can’t highly recommend it enough. It gives a sobering and humanizing glimpse into what’s happening in Italy.

I keep thinking that when we were diagnosed with the flu a while back and then also ended up with stomach problems that we possibly had it. the thing is we hadn't to our knowledge in contact with anyone who had been to China and that was what doctor's were told to go by, I would hate to know that I possibly spread it. But I've heard stories from people who got diagnosed with it and said they felt really bad that they had spread it or possibly. Honestly we don't know how long this stuff has been around for.

Yeah Andrew, here because all of us could have a corona, making contact with people we don't know, and without knowing it and we have spread it, especially for those who have had no symptoms . My brother also had a bad sick in january, with high fever for several days, but the doctor said was only seasonal flu more hard this year, like a more cases here in that period, indeed someone went to the hospital. But thinking about it now, could be a corona.

Will be great when we can get the antibody test to know if we had it so we know if we are now immune?

Yeah, but it's still unclear whether once you have taken it you are immune, or u can take it again.

Or how long the immunity lasts. If there is an immunity, its not guaranteed to be life-long.

Well you wouldn't be immune if the strain mutates just like with the regular flu...

I think they are reasonably sure that if you've had it for you we'll be immune, the couple of people who supposedly had it twice, didn't really get it again, they just never really fully recovered the first time and had a relapse.

friend in Minnesota has it or was diagnosed with it, went thru the virtua health doctor. Was told his signs were pretty much what corona is and since it's widespread in the area of Bloomington(St.Paul/Minneapolis area) they didn't even say hey you need to go get tested, said you have it to him. So yep I now know someone who has it.

There are 2 strains of covid-19, an L-strain and an S-strain, but there is no evidence of further mutations. There is at least one case recorded (in Iceland) of an individual being infected with both strains.

Thankfully, everyone in our family (moi included) is healthy, but I just found out that a daytime worker at my job may have tested positive for COVID-19 after getting sick and having to go on sick leave for a couple of weeks. (I work overnights, and as far as I know, no one I work with is even sick with traditional flu.) The store I work at is now undergoing some major adjustments such as regular disinfecting and reduced operating hours (though we overnight workers still have to go in for stocking and our regular duties, the store, which was formerly open 24 hours, is now closed overnight for the duration of the pandemic crisis); and we have our masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, Lysol spray, and antibacterial wipes at the ready.

They are saying that the next 2-3 weeks will be the worst of it as we "round the curve", so to speak. Here's hoping it gets better soon, because it probably will get a bit worse.
