Does The Corona Virus Scare The Shit Out Of You?
Best conspiracy theory I have heard (or is it the worse). A customer actually told me that the corona virus was released by the US govt. to kill off all the old people so the govt doesnt have to pay out social security any more. He was serious. He then went on about how he is an ever trumper and trump is the only one who can save us. I'm thinking this started in the 4th year of his administration so if your theory is true, he is the one who did it.

Meanwhile, I am in final phases of moving to Wilmington, NC so my primary interaction with people is at Lowe's. This past week locals have finally decided that masks aren't so bad and more are being worn.
It's not just going to "disappear" (quote from trump); time takes time so I will continue social distancing, wearing a mask, and dealing with life on life's terms. Soon I will be done with this move, and living on the coast of NC.
Please be safe, ya'll; be smart, stay 'abreast" of things, and remember, it only takes two to have a GOOD TIME.

... sorry to hear that CaptBunk. I think we all forget that people are dying. I watch house parties and think to myself.. don't these people have friends or family who are at risk?

About the fifth store to do that, one thrift shop here has been asking people to use debit ,credit or correct change, Kroger
says if they owe you coin change they'll just put it on your Kroger card and you can use it on your next order.

I have read, and I don't know if it's true, that businesses must accept cash as a form of payment if the customer is insisting that the transaction is done in such a manner. Cash is obviously legal tender and can be used to buy and sell merchandise. If the vendor does not accept the payment, the debt is considered paid in full and the customer can leave with the merchandise.
Can someone out here in cyberland verify this for me....

I would venture to say Mike, that you probably would end up having to talk to the police as the owner would call it on you.

I don't think the vendor has the right to not accept cash. But, then, I may be wrong.

Regarding your original comment, Mike. without looking it up, I do believe that if you receive something in the mail that you didn't order, that you are allowed to keep it without paying.
OK, I couldn't help myself. The devil made me do it. Yes, that one's true. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0 ... erchandise
Keep in mind that I'm looking at USA laws. Could be different way up yonder in Canada, lol. I would guess that if you live in Canada and order from a U.S. company, that the same would apply.

Hi guys,
So I did a quick research about it:
This one is for the US:
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/legal-tender-payment/
"Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether or not to accept cash unless there is a State law which says otherwise."
So, basically it depends on whether your state has specific laws.
"Massachusetts has had such a law in place since 1978, and New Jersey enacted similar legislation in 2019. A few cities (e.g., San Francisco, Philadelphia) have prohibited stores from going cashless as well."
This one is for Canada:
www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5609691
They say, that there is no law that requires stores to accept cash, but they suggest you simply talk to the owners because under
"certain circumstances, refusing to take cash in a store may actually violate provincial human rights codes."
So maybe, if you can't pay via credit card, just tell them that you have no other option than to pay cash and they'll accept it?

This virus has hit close to home for me! Learned last week my only sister tested positive on her 1st test, then tested negative on her 2nd one. Now she has to have 2 negative tests to be considered negative. Waiting on results. Then on Friday learned that 3 employees where my daughter works have tested positive. My daughter has been near them Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So we are going to get tested again this week just to be safe. Our 1st tests were negative. We are staying positive cause where we both work, we both started wearing masks before anyone else. We have been wearing them everywhere we go!!!!

Most National retail stores are now implementing the wear masks rule nationwide, I've been doing before it was mandatory as well. Hope all goes well for y'all Zany

I worked early voting and election day here. Ten days, plus extra for training and delivering the ballots and supplies to Hq. I should clear $1,000, which will look nice in my savings acct. Election day was slow, but early voting was much busier than I expected. We averaged 75/day at our site, where I would have expected 20 - 30, maybe.
We had plenty of supplies, cleaner for the voting machines (each machine after every voter,) hand sanitizer, masks and face shields. They said we were supposed to wear the masks AND shields all day long. Some wore them a lot, but after the first day, I just wore my mask. Several wore gloves, but after the second or third day, I just used my hand sanitizer. I felt safe for both myself and others. I don't see where gloves help any more than using hand sanitizer. In other words, one or the other .You rinse your hands after every contact, you don't touch your face until you have rinsed your hands. We were wearing gloves AND washing our hands with sanitizer. I saw that as ridiculous. So I wasn't worried, as long as I kept up the mask and the sanitizer
