It was kind of surreal. There were only 12 of us in attendance at the house. All the rest of the family and friends were on Zoom.

For the ceremony I helped them set up an iPad on a stand and perfectly angled it for the best view of bride, groom and officiate. It captured the exchanging of vows, rings, first kiss etc. Then captured them cutting the cake and having the first dance. Her mother, father and brother gave speeches on zoom, and the best man and some friends in person gave speeches where we were.

It was a lot less mess than if 75 people had been there! Lol... it was still sweet and touching and had its poignant moments, but not like a real wedding imo. I feel kind of bad for them that it was stolen from them because of the coronavirus, but in the end they did save a ton of money! And the important thing is that they are married!

This year has had its share of unusual stuff going on...you either adapt or die. I prefer to adapt and make the best of it. Just think of the stories the newlyweds will have 20 years from now that they can tell during our next pandemic :)

We are going to have to adapt a few weeks from now when our daughter is due to give birth...all kinds of protocols are already in place...I can't imagine what will be coming up. :goodpost:

Well, you all know me. A ZOOM wedding sounds like something you do while sitting in a Ferrari doing 110 down the freeway, maybe being chased by 27 cop cars??

I'm glad that things that we want/need to do can still be done. Yes, the personal interaction is a BIG part of any event, especially things like weddings. But, I think that is part of why we have trouble getting people to go along with what (I feel) is necessary. People are used to going to ball games. People are used to going to the beach, to the bar, to friends weddings, to Church, wherever. It's the personal interaction that gives events so much excitement and fun. So people really miss that. And I don't blame them.

But thanks to modern technology, we can do these "virtual" gatherings. We can still see and chat with our friends. People are doing so many different things to record and post on line. So, I'm glad that these folks could still "tie the knot." I think marriage and love are two of the most wonderful things that a couple can experience. I don't care what others think. Everyone is entitled to whatever they like. But, marriage and love? In my book, you just can't beat the wonderful emotion that brings.

Congratulations, Vicky. I'm glad you and Rokkerr could get there to not only help out, but to experience the emotion of the event. And you helped preserve the event for them to remember and experience over and over.

So, how did this turn out, Mike? Do we have a little girl or a little boy? If you're not sure, look under the blanket. If you see blue booties, it's a boy. If you see pink booties? Well, you shouldn't need a hint.
