Apparently a google search on "best way to boil an egg" will return 65 million hits.
If someone doesn't know how to boil an egg, should they be allowed to use google?

You were googling it, weren't you?
Yes, it returns 65 million hits, but who ever gets past the first page,
1) Place eggs in pan of cool water.
2) Heat water to boiling.
3) Remove pan from heat, let set for 12 minutes.
4) Pour off hot water.
5) Fill pan with ice and refill with cool water.
6) Let sit for 15 minutes.
7) Peel and eat (or slice or devil the yokes or whatever, lol.)
Don't worry. I did it, too, and they still let me use Google,

There are so many methods.
haha....
I prefer cold water to boil. Take off heat. Put eggs in. Let sit for 45 minutes. Pour off water. Place in fridge.
But this method takes a little planning. The color of the yoke is never green. Nice yellow orange color.

No, I've never needed to use google for boiling eggs.WalterB wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 4:48 pm You were googling it, weren't you?

I did once have to ring my ex for help in making a Kraft mac and cheese dinner.
And I did once receive guidance on making roast potatoes while chatting on a site dedicated more to topics carnal than culinary. (I rushed downstairs and corrected my oversight - the spuds turned out pretty decent!)
But I've never needed to use google for boiling eggs.

I did. Using Samantha's method, the eggs would always crack open when I put the cold eggs into the boiling water (how do you avoid that, Samantha?) So I googled it and learned to put the eggs in, then boil the water. (And my yokes are never green, Samantha, lol.) It seems like Samantha's method would work best if you're intelligent and plan ahead. I'm always "Last Minute Walt," so my method is faster - not necessarily better.
It took me years to learn that pretty much anything I wanted to know was on the internet. So,now, if I don't know something (I'm not near as smart as I pretend, lol,) I google it.
Or, to use HotJulie's term, I Giggle it,

45 minutes to boil eggs? I would never ever boil eggs if it was going to take me that long. (But I'd willingly have the ones you'd boiled!).SamanthaGrace wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 9:00 pm There are so many methods.

1. Place eggs in pot.
2. Cover with water.
3. Bring to boil.
4. Reduce heat to prevent pan boiling over.
5. Set microwave timer to 4:44.
6. When timer chimes, turn off heat, remove pot from stove.
7. Drain hot water, add ice.
8. Wait till eggs are a managable temperaure.
9. Peel and eat.
10. If you prefer the eggs firmer, set the timer in step 5 to 5:55 or 6:66.

Here was certainly a sin worth sinning and I applied myself with characteristic vigour to its practice

My method is a bit crazy, maybe because my hands have a high tolerance to heat. But I like eating the boiled egg hot
1) Place eggs in a pot with room temp water
2) Bring to a boil
3) Boil eggs for 12 mins, then pour off the hot water, leaving the eggs back
4) pour tap water into pot with eggs (do not empty water in pot)
5) Take one egg out at a time and put on cutting board place palm of hand on egg and gently keep tapping on it to break the the shell and roll it forward and back as you tap so you break all around the shell.
6) Place the crack up boiled egg back in the pot, lift out cracked shell and start to peel, when it gets to hot to handle place the egg and hands in water, and repeat until all the shell is off, and prepare the egg as one desires.
