I have a friend in Washington state whose niece died from the virus within the last month. She was a mask advocate and I think shots, too. I don't know where she might have caught the bug, but she didn't deserve to go. She was maybe in her early 50's.

That 2nd shot really kicked my ass by the way the 1st one was nothing really just a little bit tired for a couple of days, but the 2nd 1 caused deep muscle ache to the point where I had to take tylenol It was really hard to work I felt like someone took a vacuum cleaner and sucked all the life out of me. I was fine the day of the shot, it really only kicked in about 24 hours later, and got progressively worse.... It just lasts a couple of days though and now I'm fine! Just letting you know what to possibly expect! I got the Psizer.
Thanks Vicky. I hope so too.

I've heard the covid shots can put people down for a day or so. My g/f and I have decided that when we're called for our shots, we will stagger the dates by a few days so we're not both feeling poorly at the same time.

It really is quite scary. I remember back in January 2020 telling my kids to be prepared for a 2 week quarantine. 2 weeks! Ha! Did I ever underestimate the situation. I haven't personally known anyone who died of covid, and I pray that it stays that way.

Slight aside, but some may be reassured by these comparisons - there has been a lot of scaremongering about clots post immunisation -
Compared to the risk of a clot after vaccination, you are six times more likely to be struck by lightning in your lifetime, 11 times more likely to die in a car accident each year and 100 times more likely to get a blood clot if you use oral contraception.
If you are hospitalised with Covid, your risk of clot is one in four.

I had my text from the NHS this week saying that I am now eligible to get my vaccination, but as yet have been actually unable to make an appointment to get it! The only places with time slots available have been much too far for me to get to. They advised to keep checking back because more facilities are being opened all the time and one closer may become available. Having worked throughout the pandemic (aside from a couple of weeks at the start) in retail I haven't felt particularly safe or secure, especially how some people have been treating it, so I am hoping I can get it soon!

Initially, I thought the UK was doing pretty well with immunisations, but now I'm not so sure.
My first doubt was when the interval allowed between 1st and 2nd doses was increased from 28 days to 12 weeks (despite the licences obtained for the jabs). To me, it just seemed a politician's idea so that they could quote large figures for the population getting jabbed - and don't get me started on their priority list!
My (fit and healthy) son and daughter-in-law in the US (Maryland) have now both had both the doses - my 12 weeks is up on 15th May.
Also, we see people like Stevie P who probably are at higher risk due to contact with public who haven't had one at all!
Are we really doing that well Boris?

By the way - to be nit-picky the jab is an "immunisation" not a "vaccination" - only immunisation to Small pox should be called "vaccination" (comes from the use of Cow Pox by Jenner - vac = cow)!

Good one Walt!
I will get my first shot tomorrow (second dose in mid-june), I'm a bit nervous.

You'll do fine, Liz. No different from any other shot.

Think of it this way, "I've gotta get that shot or that OLD fart will turn me over his knee," :lmao:

I get my first shot on Tuesday, second one in August. I think we were not registered correctly. A friend pestered me to follow up and when I re-registered, dates were assigned immediately.

Umm, Vicky, if you're looking for volunteers to take over your knee, well ErikB already passed; I won't make the same mistake. ~grin.

While Liz waits patiently, wrestle me for it, Vicky.

Wait. I'm a hundred. You'd probably beat me anyway. I'll bring the oil. :rotffl:

Wait, I'm confused, so you'll spank me if I DON'T get vaccinated? Could you spank me if I DO get the shot? That would motivate me a lot more😂!

Well, I was thinking probably more of 'punishment' for not getting a shot. But, if you see it as more of a 'reward,' I'm sure Vicky was thinking "2 rewards, One for you and one for her,"

Apparently I haven't been paying enough attention to this thread.

And just because I promised to be good in the future doesn't mean I passed on what's due to me...

Great that you got an appointment!
I had a headache and some muscle pain for the rest of the day, but was fine the day after, so all good.

For all those who are about to have (or who have very recently had) their Covid immunisations, like all medicines, immunisations can cause side effects.
Symptoms to watch out for over the next few days are:

1/ Bouts of extreme smugness.
2/ Sense of superiority over anyone who hasn't had a vaccine.
3/ Absurd curiosity over whether your friends have had Astrazeneca or Pfizer.
4/ A need to tell everybody how short the queue was and how smashing all the volunteers are.
5/ Compelling desire too take a photo of your immunisation card and post it on social media.
6/ Misguided feeling of immortality.
7/ Failure to understand why you still can't go on a foreign holiday.
8/ Ability to annoy the hell out of 20-year olds by asking, "When are you going to have yours ..... Oh they've run out have they?"

Note that this is based on UL studies and there may be differences in the USA

I had my first shot yesterday and was wondering why I don't feel any different today. Now I understand. I already have all those symptoms!
