One of the joys of streaming now is finding shows that you had no clue existed...

Just clicked on Love/Hate out of Ireland - a gangster series with lots of hookers, drugs and shootings...
Well acted and I got hooked. Unfortunately in the States I had to buy season 2 and 3...
Seasons 4 and 5 are not available at all in the States and I understand there's a season 6 on the way...

I give it a SOLID 8+ some deductinons for shoddy camera work and editing but it gets bonus points for a great script, acting, surprise deaths and NAKED GIRLS, including a drugged out crackhead whore that you feel sorry for. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, the guy who plays Little Fingers portrays a crime boss ....

... and because I clicked on one Irish show, another one came up...

Dublin Murders which is a crime drama, great pacing, acting and the lead does the best English accent ever... (for an Irishman)
No hookers unfortunately so I give it an 8/10

Just re-watched all of Firefly. One of my favorite shows. In simplest terms it is a space western about the crew of the transport ship Serenity trying to make it by taking whatever jobs they can get, legal or not. This doesnt get any easier when they take in a pair of fugitives the government are looking for. Currently free to stream on Hulu. It only lasted one season because it was on fox and they seemed to sabotage the show from the beginning. They aired the episodes out of order and didnt even air 2 of them which didnt help as there was an over arching story line. After it was cancelled sales of the dvds (which put the episodes in the right order) were so good and fan demand was so high that a few years later Universal studios brought the cast and crew back to make a theatrical film called Serenity to tie up the main story line.
Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you are up to :-)

To be fair the Beeb still does great drama .
It would really hurt an Irish guy to do an English accent - he should have gone for Scouse!

Having too much sex can cause memory loss. I read that on page 69 in a medical journal on the 4th of May in 2008.

PeterL22 wrote: February 26th, 2021, 6:07 am It's not on Netflix or Amazon, but the BBC have just started an interesting crime/detective series on Sunday evenings - called "Bloodlines" and set in contemporary Belfast with James Nesbitt as a cop who is investigating (initially) the abduction of an ex-IRA man. He links it to three disappearances (murders) that occurred in 1998 just around the time of The Good Friday Agreement - one of which was his wife.
The setting in the middle of the maze that is Northern Ireland Sectarianism (even now) and the storyline of the crimes works well.
The lead actors are also really good - if you can get it I would highly recommend it to you!

Finally got Episode 1 under my belt and it's terrific so far...

By the way Rokker - thanks for the heads up about Acorn TV!
Just got hooked on Operation Buffalo - series about early 50s A-bomb tests in Maralinga in the Outback.
Great combination of Aussie stereotypes/humour, drama, history and ?spy fiction!
Well worth a watch!

Binge watched all of season 3 of Drive to Survive on Netflix when it released last Friday. Better than season 2, not as good as season 1. They did OK with what they covered, but they could have covered so much more. If you like (or are curious about) Formula 1 racing, it's definitely worth a watch.

Invincible launched on Amazon. Its an animated super hero series by the creator of the Walking Dead based on the comic of the same name. I believe season one will be 9 episodes of which the first 3 are up. Pretty violent and aimed at adults and has an amazing voice cast. The over arching storyline is a murder mystery but it is not really a who done it since you see who it is, but more a question of why. So far it has my interest.

I actually enjoyed the film...a nice look into the very exclusive club and the two men who made it happen.

I have just found a must-watch on Danish TV - DR (equivalent of BBC)!
It's called John Dillermand and its an animated series aimed at 4-8 yr olds.

I think you can guess what he has that makes him a celebrity!!

OK - again it's not a new show (and it's not on Netflix - but you can get it on Youtube or All4 if you are in UK), but I have just rediscovered Dennis Potter, starting with "Lipstick on Your Collar"!
It's set in 1956 (just before Suez) and is about a private who joins Military Intelligence in The War Office. Dennis Potter does series which are almost musicals - every so often the cast will mime to songs from the time (hence the name of the series - ask Walt about Lipstick on Your Collar). Therefore, it has a great soundtrack.
Other highlights are :-
1. It's Ewan Mcgregor's first role on screen - apparently 6 months after he left acting school.
2. The first word of dialogue in the series are "Bum holes!"
3. The leading actress is the incredibly hot Louise Germaine (yes rokker she does get her kit off!)
4. One of the opening scenes has a naked blonde statue that comes to life!

Heartily recommend it - also his other series - "Pennies From Heaven" and "The Singing Detective" - different eras, but same idea with musical bits!

Funny you should mention YouTube!

I was introduced to Dave Gorman a handful of years ago by friends who recommended his special Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure from 2004. I found it very entertaining (and free on Amazon Prime) but his sense of humor may not appeal to everyone (and it no longer appears to be on Amazon). Yesterday, I stumbled across a show he did called Dave Gorman's Modern Life is Goodish. All 36 episodes from the show's five season run are available in full on YouTube. I have linked the first one I saw below, which includes strip clubs (in a safe for TV manner). So far, I have only seen all eight episodes in Season Five, but I'll be watching all the others soon.

Edited to add: Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure appears to be available in full (all 96 minutes) on YouTube. Thank you Internet. :yeahbaby:
