I don't know about Norton. I've used Express VPN and Nord VPN. Express VPN won't work here. Nord shows up on many review sites as one of the best and a 2-year subscription is quite affordable.

I'm not sure what you mean that Norton isn't hiding your IP. Do you mean when you look it up with IPChicken?

From what I understand, a VPN doesn't hide your IP. What it does is send your signal to one of it's servers that are located al over the world. For example, I am in Texas. They are already blocking access to porn. So what my VPM does is send my like to a server they choose or I can choose. So let's say I choose one in Seattle. That means that, to every site out there that I visit, my IP will tell them that I am in Seattle.

I know this isn't quite related but when I moved to AZ last year I tried to find ways to get a VPN to work so that I'm able to watch local Seattle stations for the sports and couldn't figure it out because I kept getting the local L.A. stations. I can't remember which VPN service I tried but it was a wireless router with built-in VPN that I had gotten on Amazon. Ended up sending it back after I couldn't quite get it to work the way I wanted it to. Now, I'm waiting for the yearly updates for the apple products to come out next month because the one for the Apple TV will allow vpn apps so I'll be trying that when it comes out.

If I knew anything about VPNs I would offer to help, Amy, but I am ignorant. I tried Nord VPN years ago and got it to work fine, eventually, but I haven't used one for quite some time.

I finally installed Nord about a week ago. Working with Amy, I decided to turn it off today to check the site. The thing that started me in the first place was that the VNA quit working for me a couple weeks ago. I could get into other porn sites just fine but not the VNA. Thinking that maybe Texas had started early, I installed my VPN. The Express VPN still wouldn't work with the site (I first tried it maybe a couple years ago. Wouldn't work then either.)

So today I decided to turn it off to see if the site would work. Well, I still don't know what happened, but I lost my entire internet. Took me 15 20 minutes to finally get it back. I may try again tomorrow, just to see. But I'll probably leave it on as I seem to have had some other issues recently. May not be IP related, but who knows?

Now I remember. I wanted to check that the VPN was working. How do you do that?

First check your IP address: https://www.ipchicken.com/ Write it down.

If your VPN is on, turn it off and reboot (disable the auto-start function.) Check your IP address again.

If your VPN is off, turn it on. Then recheck your IP address. In both cases, your IP should be different. If the two numbers are the same, that's telling you that, for some reason, your VPN isn't working right, or just not working.

Hey, VIcky. Texas has blocked the laws. Any chance we can take Texas off of your list? It's not permanent, but these things take forever to work their ways through the courts. So you would still have plenty of time in the future to reinstate it.

Texas also passed some more restrictive laws regarding LGBTQ and Drag performances. Those new laws have also been blocked,.

In what I read, I can see the validity of those laws. They seem to me to be talking about public performances, where children can be reasonably expected to be present, like a city park. So I certainly agree with that. But I think the issue is the language. The language can be written to reflect personal issues instead of public issues. And that seems to be the problem. The laws are written to satisfy the perversions of a small group of people who think that sex is horrible (too bad their parents didn't believe that.) So the various Freedom Coalitions have got together and convinced an intelligent judge to block this insanity.
