Its always interesting when someone takes existing music and is able to make it their own. Examples:

I remember that last one - The Toys and A Lover's Concerto.. The good old days of Motown. So much great music came out of Motown. Thank you, Berry Gordy.

I ran across this one and thought I'd post it.

I've been a Rolling Stones fan from the very start. I first saw them live in 1969 at Olympia Stadium in Detroit, then saw them live 3 more times over the years. The original band was Mick Jagger - vocals; Keith Richards - lead guitar; Brian Jones - rhythm guitar; Bill Wyman on bass and Charlie Watts on drums.

Brian Jones actually formed the group. But early on he got into drugs, apparently deeply. It got so bad that basically the other 4 kicked him out. About a month later he was found floating face down in his pool. He was replaced by Mick Taylor, who only stayed a year ot two. Then they brought in Ron Woods from Rod Stewarts group, Faces.

I always liked Bill Wyman, the bassist because of his "Prince-Valient" haircut and the way he held his bass. Bill finally left the group saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Then Charlie Watts, drummer. Another original member, Charlie died in 2021. Not only a great loss to the Stones, but to music everywhere.

There may never be another great Rock and Roll group. Numerous folks still play rock and roll, but mostly it's well-known groups from the '70's and '80's. I will always agree with the opening announcer at one of their concerts:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the GREATEST Rock and Roll band in the world, The ROLLING STOOOOOOOONES!"

Ever heard (of) Laura Cox? She's a French Rock guitarist. Good? If you like good, hard Rock and Roll, she'll knock your sox off. Her guitar work rivals Alvin Lee's, In case you want to compare, I'll post Alvin's Woodstock performance below. But, man, this girl ROCKS it. I love her.

.
You'd better like it loud and hard to watch Alvin Lee.
(The volume level seems to be low on at least a few YT clips. i found a program called "Volume Master. " It can give you up to a 600% boost on any page with sound. Also you can control several pages at once if you like. Say you have 3 YT pages open. You can control the boost seprately on each page. I find it good and very useful.)

Here's a shortened version of Alvin Lee. It's a truncared version, but the sound is better:

.
In case you're interested, this is the whole 11 minute set. But you'll need that volume booster to hear it, lol.

There is a band called Rock Sugar and what they do is play the music to a rock song but sing the lyrics to a different pop song. They are pretty good. And for good measure the lead singer , Jess Harnell, is also a voice artist and is the voice of Wacko Warner in the animaniacs cartoons,

There is a Youtube channel called Professor of Rock which if you are into music is worth taking a look at. There are lots of episodes delving into the stories behind the songs. Interviews with the artists, etc. this one is an interview with Jess Harnell

I never got into Iron Maiden except for a couple of their songs. But they were/are good. Nice score, Steinar.

I wouldn't refuse to see the Stones one more time - even without Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts.

Today I read about a birthday. My favorite girlfriend from the late '60's.

Jefferson Airplane formed in 1965. By 1967 they were on the national scene. They were quite popular in the psychedelic years of the Hippies in the late '60's; Woodstock, Altemont, The Monterey Pop Festival and others. Their first album, Surrealistic Pillow was fabulous.. More than one night sitting in a room with friends, pleasantly 'mellowed,' lol, listening to "White Rabbit" or "Somebody to Love." Or even "Volunteers."

I will be 82 in March. Of course I think about it. Then I read that Grace Slick is 85 today. EIGHTY-FIVE! DAMN! Grace Slick and the Jefferson Airplane/Starship bring back so many memories. To me, one of the biggest issues with aging is getting up here and reading about things that you loved in your youth that are now so very long ago. Fifty years ago? Were there even cities 50 years ago? That's such ancient history, lol.

So, :happybirthday1: Grace. And, thank you for all you did for us to make OUR lives just a little bit better.

White Rabbit is quite the song - especuially how it builds to the end. I spent more than one night toasted to the gills just flowing with this. Haley Reinhart does a respectable job of it.

But wait'll she turns around and you get a glimpse of them LEGS! The girl's got VNA legs, lol.

But, of course, you've gotta have the Queen of Rock. Note the '70's psychedelia

Nothing to do with Christmas, but I (we all) love this song. Then to throw in a flash mob was just fantastic. Lots of folks here, singing their hearts out.

(My only problem with clips/videos like this is keeping time to the music. We march in place. But marching is on the beat, always left foot first. When folks march right foot first, it just drives me crazy(ier?) But that's just me. I really liked this clip. It's because I started marching in a school band at Lanier Elementary school in Temple, Tx. (My first parades were the next year, 13 years old, 7th grade at Central Jr. High.)

Fantastic song! I checked out the channel, and most of them are pretty good. If I didn't like one, it was due to not liking the style very much rather than the lyrics (1920's in particular).

Also, the number of similar channels that were suggested by YouTube was surprising. Apparently this is an entire genre. I got a lot of good babe clip-art off of the Sus Records channel.

I don't know, Gregg. Sometimes (like now) when I post a YT link, I can't see it. What I get is a small box with "phpBB{Media}" in it. If I click that, it takes me to a Russian language version of the forum.

I love the Sus Reocords channel! Thanks for Steinar for posting one of the videos. The following is a good Sinatra song. The reason I am posting it is because one of the comments simply said "Old Blue Balls".

So many good songs! I REALLY love the backing vocals on this one:
