Thought we were making progress! In "Music City" Nashville the two genres of music that must die for ever are most all Disco and ALL Rap Crap! But what might real talented, successful people know about music?

Toad: do I get a Disco t-shirt with my Rap crapper T?

I told you I like almost every type of music. The only one I probably wouldn't ever listen to would be metal because that's just horrible well I guess country too. I like a few country songs but 5 out of like a million is a bad ratio.

It is not all play it backwards and "I get my wife, house, truck and dog back!" Not to like Shania Twain, Martina McBride and many others and U should be hung!

Sorry but I cannot do it. As I do have a use for them.... :D

I use my disco T to polish my furniture. And well the rap T, I use that to wipe my %$&@($#)((*&%. Yes it was a curse word. *Hint* rhymes with glass or trash as that's what rap is.

Because in this day and age, you have to be politically correct. Well, it's off to the toilet for more crapping.

see you can't even argue because you know I'm right. You just say the same thing every time because you have nothing to back it up with. No matter what I post you will always disagree with it but I am used to it so whatever. I am sure every post you reply to me will have something to do with me being uneducated and rap is crap. Or you'll change your next post just because I said that.

Every time someone mentions Country music, songs like "Peel Me a 'nanner, Toss Me a Peanut, You Sure Made a Monkey Out of Me," come to mind. Yes, it's a real song, by Roy Drusky in 1964.

There I was in all of my innocence, loving you with all of my might.
Come to find I didn't have any sense. You had a different darling every night.

Peel me a nanner toss me a peanut, I'll come swinging from a cocoanut tree.
Peel me a nanner toss me a peanut, You sure made a monkey out of me.

I gave you kisses and I gave you loving, Tried to please your every little whim.
It all added up to a big fat nothing. Last night you up and run away with him.

Peel me a nanner toss me a peanut, I'll come swinging from a cocoanut tree.
Peel me a nanner toss me a peanut, You sure made a monkey out of me.

Peel me a nanner toss me a peanut, I'll come swinging from a cocoanut tree.

Oh no! Never fight about about music. Although as Nashville out of work back-up and studio singers we lean toward Walt and Julie in comments above. :clap

Here's a good one Jeb. Although it is not the original video. The concept is the same. Jerry Samuels is singing his 1966 hit here...

I am not going to belittle the point or make fun of anyone here that "rap sucks, or disco sucks," etc. You know my preferences here. Yes, I'm a pro-rock blues fan. Though Stiff is not going to listen to it anyway. Bottom-line.. Stiffy you aren't right!!. As I have said it here numerous times over and over again - rap music is not an original concept. It takes and actually steals from other original musical forms.

Though I do remember back in the mid eighties, when it was first coming out, a rapper took Joe Perry's whole guitar riff introduction and "lifted it" from "Walk This Way" from Aerosmith's Toys In the Attic. and put it in as part of his original rap song. I'm not sure if they (Aerosmith) ever filed a lawsuit. Though if they did, they probably settled it out of court.

The only successful rap artists in history have been the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Eminem, Tupac Shakur and Notorious Big. Anyone else is just rehashing the same points over and over again. Today's rap stars, 50 cents, and all others cannot be taken seriously. And they aren't role models of any sort.. (see below)

Hey, nothing is perfect as rock-n-roll also took from delta blues, gospel, jazz, ska and skiffle bands too. Though what's different, rock has evolved into some great stuff... rap continues to stagnate its populace...

My case in point - these gangsta rappers sure as hell aren't any sort of role models for the kids they are going for... the black kids in the ghetto. Bill Cosby, himself an honorable black man, has come out against these rappers... His points are valid, degrading against all women, especially white women who allow themselves to be involved with these black men. Why do black kids keep failing out in school? Next, guns and gunplay. How many drive-bys occur because you don't wear the same backward baseball cap, the same gold chains, have the same etchings in your teeth, wear dreds or even wear the same Air Jordans.

I'd like to hear Anthony's or bdjones honest opinions here of rap music. As they are our resident black men here on the board ...
