You're welcome HT.
No dick wagging Laura and Sue, HT was just interested in the instruments they played.
The story goes that Paul bought the Hofner bass guitar in Hamburg, West Germany in 1960. After he took over playing bass guitar for the headache prone Stuart Sutcliffe. And since Paul is a lefty, he actually had to restring Stuart's bass guitar so that it played "normally" meaning on a downward stroke. Imagine reading the bass notes and first learning to strum "upward" as that's what he had to do to learn to play the bass guitar. Yes, he played it upside down. And he did it - played it like that - for two whole nights of shows at the
Indra Musik Club. Later after restringing it when they performed at the
Kaiserkeller, the strings were set properly. Two weeks of this went on before he went out and bought the Hofner, his first and "famous" bass guitar. But Paul is a talented musician. Always has been. Now and in the past.
For example, during the
Let It Be sessions, he got very upset with George's playing on "Two of Us." They must have rehearsed this song in the studio about 15-20 times. Paul was very impatient during their performing of this song. Why? Because it is about him and John first meeting. And yes, it is my all-time favorite Beatles song....
....Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing so low
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home
You and I have memories
Longer than the road that stretches out ahead....
.. Anyway he actually sang the chords, in perfect pitch from out of his head, to George. "G, Cadd9, Bm, Am7, G to D" he says. George played it...
Eventually it lead to this exchange during the filming:
Paul (
to George) "I'm not trying to get you. But I really am trying to just say, "Look, lads - the band, you know. Shall we... try it like this, you know?"
George (
to Paul) Yeah, okay, well, I don't mind. I'll play, you know, whatever you want me to play. Or I won't play at all if you don't want me to play, you know. Whatever it is that'll please you, I'll do it.
...and
still not satisfied with George's playing, eventually, Paul played it himself with an acoustic guitar which is what you hear on the album,
accompanied by George.
So give Sir Paul some credit here Laura and Sue. No, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest here about if he has lost it or not. He's still very talented. Enough said.

lil jebby just told us he was at a play in NYC the night John got shot and went to the Dakota Apt. upon hearing of the news and what a Zoo....
.... You do remember how many people were camped out in front of the Dakota Apartments and in Central Park? Thousands upon thousands. The police had to close down 72nd Street and Central Park West for five whole days after his death and three and a half days after the release of John's ashes during that ceremony in Central Park.
