I kinda like D-Beckham's move myself.....if he can be as much an ambassador for promoting American soccer as Pele was, it certainly can't hurt....and having Victoria as the eye candy can't hurt either.
But Reggie Bush would still kick his ass in a fair fight, me thinks.

I personally am partial to both pro football and english football. I support Portsmouth here, and the Raiders in the US (don't hate me)..... Beckham is treated like a rock star in England but does not play. I hope he does well in the United States but we shall see..... English football never really took off in the states..... but for that matter neither did cricket!!! despite the hot wives of the cricket players

Professional soccer will never take off here in the USA - sorry to say - all the kids play it - though they turn to other sports when maturing. Professional soccer is way too demanding. Too many professional leagues too, they start up, then "die on the vine" because they can't budget themselves properly. They overpay their best players and the leagues fail because how can they survive with 2,000 to 3,000 fans, most times it's even less than that, in attendance for each game.
For us, the American fan, we are a way too fickle bunch - we like our baseball, and football, basketball, and hockey. That's about it. These four sports are highly recuited in the amateur ranks, college and semi-pro leagues as well.
Amateur college soccer and more so, college lacrosse are very popular here though. Strange?
We, as Americans, may follow track and field every four years at the Summer Olympics as well. Mind you, other sports even look at track runners, and high hurdlers to become professional wide receivers and running backs.
But no college soccer players are looked at per say.
Please try to remember these World famous players that one team had. Some of these players even won World Cups for their country's teams:

Posh wants her own fashion label so it makes more sense for her to be in the States...either there or Milan. Beckham himself will get nothing out of playing soccer in the States (unless you count the millions of $$$ :lol:) and he's really just going along to support Posh's wishes. That's how I see it anyway.
They'll fit in well with their whole move star lifestyle. Vicky, you should invite your namesake round for dinner one night. Could be interesting.
