Once we are finally settled in Atlanta, and the piano is moved there, Rokkerr promised to teach me a few things!

Walt baby, I'll dance to anything you play, lol..... I love that old time rock and roll, they don't make good music like that anymore, so much of it has come back too, do you know Collin James and Zoot Suit Riot and the likes? It's the latest wave... I'd love to take some lessons!

Hadn't heard of those, Vicky. I"ll look them up. I have about 15 tapes of a guy named Hubcap Carter I recorded in Denver about 4 years ago. All he played were the mid/late 50's/early 60's. What a collection of music. Hadn't heard some of that stuff in 40 years. He was a great DJ, too.

Anthony, your knowledge of chords is way over my head. I vaguely remember something about sevenths but like I said, that was the goof-off class in HS, lol. But now that you posted those chords, I wish I still had the piano, I'm trying to remember what they sounded like. Maybe I can try those chords out in Apple's GarageBand...

rokkerr wrote:Has anyone heard the music to Big Wet Asses #3? The intro song? OMG it's hilarious, the nutty director William H wrote it and played it, he's a one man show... the problem is, once you hear it, you can't get that damn song out of your head forever! I'll see if I can download just the audio for you and put it here...
Are yo talking about the intro to the whole video, Rokkerr, or the intro to Vicky's segment?? The latter isn't that bad...and actually, it's pretty good technopop. I've heard much, much worse.

Personally, the only background "music" that I'd prefer would be the natural sounds of sex....but, that's only me.

I love the fact we have the music discussion going! Great folks have something in common. Me, I write songs on the piano (so they can be recorded in the studio). I have no clue what notes I am playing - I feel it out by ear. I have played in some of the nicest hotel lobbies in the world! I thought about learning the specific notes but always worried that would detract from creating rather than following rules. :D

I think it takes a pretty good musical ear to write or play 'from the ear.' I could play, on trumpet, existing music, but could never come up with new stuff. My girl says I write well, but in most disciplines I have no taste whatever. Am trying to paint a house, but have to take all my guidance from my sweetie. I have no clue what colors go together, can't even begin to put musical notes together. Hope I get to hear you play someday, Dave.

I never really missed the piano until it left the house. I can still kinda read music but it'd take me a while to learn the piece. Once I did learn it, I'd just play it by ear. I think most musicians play by ear and only learn to read music when they have to, lol.

I think you're right, Tony. Once you learn the instrument, it is relatively easy to play new stuff, especially songs you like. I remember a song by Barbara George that had a cute little trumpet ditty. Didn't take me long at all to get it down.

Hey rokkerr, I think there is software that will listen to what you play and translate it into the notes that go on sheet music, as if you were writing it down yourself, I'll have to look tomorrow for this... 8) 8)
That way you can play to your hearts content and it will record everything and you can look at it later and reasemble it the way you want...
Ok, just checked look at:
http://www.nch.com.au/twelvekeys/index.html

And or google search "music transcriber", that's what I searched for to fine this link... :) :)

Now that's innovative! Why waste time writing sheet music by hand when you can generate it automatically from sound? Publishing made easy. :D

Think of the complexity of breaking down sound waves electronically into individual notes. I wonder how it's done? Another mystery I'm off to investigate, lol.

Thanks guys, I knew there was something out there to write the sheet music. Having said that, in the studio most of the musicians I know just play what they feel rather what has been written out...... sometimes with great results, sometimes without. Vicky and I went to austria over the weekend = the home of mozart = the guys played what was written. Wish I could do that but sometimes I dont care if I am playing a C or G so long as it sounds good.....

If you find the name of that program let me know!! Always wanted to see my music written up properly....

Rokker, just click on the link from before or:

http://www.nch.com.au/twelvekeys/index.html

It's the home page for the software, read it download it and try it. But you need the computer with a microphone to make it work… shouldn’t be too hard but then I’m shore your distracted by someone….LOL
:P :P :P :P

Looks like there's other software out there to do the same thing, but this is the one that seems to come up the most. I'd ask your friends that write music and use computers and see what they like or find some reviews to get the best setup.... 8) 8)

Speaking of music and the blues ... ever hear of Peter Green? Why don't they ever play his version of "Black Magic Woman" on the radio?? Don't you just love that early Fleetwood Mac?

speaking of the Beatles:

By the way, John Lennon also wrote "Yer Blues" a very good blues song off the Beatles or White Album.

Paul McCartney's best bass playing was on "Dear Prudence"

The best original blues song, "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix

Yes, my lovely one!!... :)) - it was Carlos Santana that made the song famous with the Latin rhythms off the "Abraxas" album. Gregg Rolie sang it, minicking Peter's voice. He later of Journey (before Steve Perry btw) -

However "the Green God" wrote it. [That refers to The Bluesbreakers, you see Eric Clapton, "Clapton is God", left John Mayall's group, the Bluesbreakers, to form Cream in early 1966 with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker and Peter joned the ranks of Mayall's band.] Around London in late 1966 people gave Peter the nickname "The Green God"..Later he left with Mayall's bass player, John McVie and his drummer, Mick Fleetwood and formed a band. They called the group, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. He christened it that after the groups' rhythm section, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Peter left the group, in 1970 while Jeremy Spencer left in 1971. A true story...

Thanks for the welcome... you crazy lady!!

Love and peace.

Welcome, John. Great to hear from you.

OK Vicky, what kind of 'avatar' would you suggest ((...not another picture of me) -- but we love you dear.) I am not posting a picture of myself wanking off holding a picture of your loveliness in my free hand....  TeeHeeHee

WalterB - Thanks for the welcome. What the heck is an avatar? Do I go to a website for this? Please advise.

Vicky - As for avatars, I think its not the pictures of you that these guys like, it's the women's lingerie and such, that you're wearing..heehee!! *Wink, wink*

Hi, John,

An Avatar is the picture that you see along with each person's post.
At the top of this page, click on "Profile." This brings up a page where you can enter any personal info you may care to. At the bottom of that page, you will find an 'Avatar' section where you can select what picture you want. There are a number of source selections. That should do it, and Vicky or Tony or any of the sharp guys will help if I've screwed up again and lied to you somewhere  . Look over Benny's stuff. He is sharp, as are most of the other folks. Me, I'm lucky if I can hit two keys in a row without screwing one of them up
And, no, I have no idea where that weird word came from.

Oh, and keep in mind, It's not the lingerie that's so hot, it's the gorgeous Vixen that's in (or, more correctly, mostly out of) said lingerie.
