Anthony.... they don't call it the Rock for nothing..... the Rokkerr was jittering on the Rock...... Vicky has never driven stick and offered to give it a go. I think driving stick on a hill is pretty tough for a person who has not tried stick before....... I used to drive up to Sunset in Los Angeles and avoid the tough hills. I was doing great and all of a sudden my fear of heights and rolling backwards got the best of me. We made it back ok but talk about stress today.....!!!!!!!!

Nope not a single automatic car out of all the rental places at the airport, wait actually there was one, and they wanted 250 euros extra for it, lol... just not worth it. they are almost non-existent, due to the cost of gas, and tiny little roads. It really was hair raising, they drive like demons there in spain.

I see that part hasn't changed - Stick shifts and demons on the road. They're like maniacs on the road. In Madrid, when you'd pull up to a light on a three-lane street, for example, the cars would be crammed in at the line 5 or 6 wide. And, when the light went green, it was 'balls out!' I wouldn't even drive there for the first couple weeks (this was in '76,) until I got an idea of where I was going. Street signs aren't (weren't then) on poles on the corner. They were on signs way up on the side of the corner building. I decided I didn't want to be out in that traffic looking for street signs.
Vicky, people think gas is expensive here in the colonies, how about giving us the price of gas there converted to dollars? (and gallons. They still sell it by the liter, right?)
And, both of you, from what you describe aboiut the road up the ROG, that's not the place to learn to drive a stick-shift. Vicky, dear, if you're gonna learn, please take our dear Rokkerr to a nice flat shopping center parking lot. That way, you won't get a flying lesson at the same time.

Walter...... Vicky insisted she could drive up that hill using a stick never having done it before. No bloody way. Then again, Vicky wanted to jump off a mountain with a parachute in Norway...... gotta give it to her, she has guts.... me I am terrified of heights and getting up that high with a stick shift, feeling like I was falling back down the mountain, well I just froze 3/4 of the way up......

I just felt so bad for Rokkerr wanted to do anything to help, and my brother showed me one time about 15 years ago how to drive a stick so I think I could have done it, but we'll use the trip home from LA in March/April to learn. We're gonna drive his Jeep back to Atlanta.
The gas in England is around 90p per litre, so that's 3.60 per gallon if there is 4 litres in a gallon? then x 2 to get us dollars, so that's about $7.20 per gallon USD if I'm doing it right.....

Do you know in Gibraltar, which is only a couple of miles wide, you have to cross the border from Spain? The Spanish still hate the English for taking that part of the world and have put up no signs how to get there......

You can't be totally naked? :( :( ... As you do need to wear shoes or sneakers.. otherwise your feet will perspire and that will lead to your feet slipping off all the pedals; the clutch, the brake and the accelerator. Believe me I tried it not naked though  but bare-footed!!!
