Vicky, that link takes me to a story about the F-22 Raptor regarding problems with its oxygen system. It didn't say whether or not the plane barks.

Does Loki chew up everything in sight? I have twice now caught Fred chewing on my shoes. It's like a baby at Christmas. You spend $150 on toys for the kid, and he spends his day playing with the wrapping paper.

Fred is the same. I've spent maybe $50 on chew toys, trying to find those he can't destroy in 30 seconds or less. Chicken flavored, beef flavored, gravy flavored, Snausages, Beggin' Strips, you name it.

His favorite? Plastic bottle caps. So now I keep the caps from my Joint Juice, and leave several scattered around the house and outside, lol.

No she doesn't chew on anything, skittles either... but he did when he first got here, started on dave's slippers right away.. a sharp no, maybe a small tap, just enough to make them know you are displeased, then just replace whatever in their mouth with what they are allowed to chew on. they learn fast.

Yeah, that's what I do, I just took the shoes away and gave him a chew treat I have. He likes them (the rawhide style chew treats,) so it just gives him a new focus.

It's funny, I throw his toys/chews, and he chases them voraciously. But, if he loses sight of where one lands? He can walk around 2 feet from the damn thing and not see it. I tell him, "Fred! It's right there" (pointing at it.) So after he comes and licks my finger, he goes back and still doesn't see it - til I get out of my chair, walk all the way over there, bend down, put my finger ON the damn thing, so he can finally see it and pick it up and look at me, like "Here it is, Daddy, I found it! Wanna play?"

I was watching Letterman last night & he had Stupid Pet Tricks, all with dogs. The first was a dog that the owner used as a coffee table, the second one(my favorite) was a bulldog that rode a child's rocking horse & the third was a collie/ shepherd mix that jumped rope double-dutch style.

Our shelter took in and processed 263 dogs between wednesday and friday this past week. There was a big bust, a home in south florida (venice) where a woman had 263 dogs in chicken coops. They were all the small variety like poodles, chihouahoua's, shitzu's and peekapoos, etc, but still 263 dogs is insane. They said she used to be a breeder and went into depression and became a "hoarder". They were all fed, but just really dirty, covered in urine and feces, they had open sores, fleas and worms. All their feet were damaged because there was no floor in the cages, it was just chicken wire. 6 of them were extremely sick and were euthanized immediately. I offered to help bathe the stinkers and they said, they are all beyond bathing and combing, all of them will be 100% shaved.... Our shelter took them all in,p rocessed them, documented, took pictures for the legal proceedings, then split them up into groups of 30 and sent them out to other shelters and human societies all over florida. They went to orlando, st, petersburg, etc... The place was bustling when we got there on saturday morning. I have never seen the parking lot so full. Everyone was coming in to help, and pick up dogs to bring to other shelters. It made me cry that there are actually so many good people in the world, giving their time and energy to this. It makes me sad that someone would do this to the dogs in the first place, but it gives me renewed hope in mankind, that so many people came out in droves. They had them all processed and shipped out in 2-3 days. Hopefully all those poor babies will end up in good homes.

Well, I'm sure she didn't do it on purpose. I'm guessing there's some sort of mental abberation there. She loves the dogs, but just doesn't see that she isn't caring for them. Thankfully someone became aware of the situation before many of them died. Hopefully all of the others, wherever they go, will recover and find good homes.

Skittles got a bath today.... he's not crazy about it but tolerates it..... He still smells really bad because of the mange. Thank God only 1 day left on his medicine and hopefully he'll stop STINKING! You can tell which room he's in by following the smell, lol...... All the sores on his body are healed except under his chin, where he has a lot of hound dog jowls.....

Good boy, Skittles. Fred won't go into water very easily. He snaps at it if he drops something into his water dish. I guess he can't hold his breath underwater, lol. He did go into a stream I stopped at on the way back from Denver a month ago. He'll let me bathe him, but he just stands there, not moving.

Loki loves the water, she can literally swim for hours.... she actually caught a fish the other day, she came trotting back up to the beach so proud, I could tell her chest was puffed out cause she thought we was hercules, lol... the fish was bigger than her head and it was flapping around, she could barely hold on to it.... she dropped it on the beach and went back into the water and the birds started pecking at it. I tried to snap a picture, but right then skittles got completely tangled with his retractable leash in a mangrove bush.....

But skittles hates the water, I bring him to the dog beach with loki but he won't even put the toes of one paw in.....

Skittles is finally healthy enough to be neutered. I have to leave outta here at 7 am tomorrow to drop him off at animal control vet then go pick him up in the afternoon. Loki and stinkie have to go to their vet to get bordatella vaccines (kennel cough) so I can board them when I go to Miami next week. Sucks that vaccine is only good for 6 months so tomorrow is really dog day...

Skittles lost his nuts yesterday, but no whining and crying in bed like a human, give me more painkillers! lol... nope dogs are amazing, he was wrestling with loki last night.... i had to make them stop cause I was afraid he'd tear his stitches....

I'm so happy to say we had a great weekend at the kennel! A great couple of weeks actually. All the press about that big bust in Venice, florida must have been good for us. 3 dogs adopted out on friday, 2 on saturday and 2 today! There was very good humor at the shelter today, everyone was so thrilled about it, and all us dog walkers even had time to hang around, talk and just socialize, cause it was so much less busy than usual. I love it, I've made some really good friends over there. Even the dogs are happier, cause not being overcrowded we have time to actually play with them, and just sit and pet them and talk to them.
