(Sorry, GJ, you got me started. This got quite long, so I started to erase it, then decided to post it anyway. No one has to read it, it's just the ramblings of TheOldGuy. So, I'll leave it as is.)
Hell, no, GJ, age is a fact of life. And, as I reach this point, I see where my parents have gone and where millions before me have gone.
I see age as a a two-pronged issue. There's your physical age and there's your mental age. Both my parents lived to be 84, my grandparents all died before 70. So, while my knees are starting to give me grief, the rest of me isn't in too bad shape. Since I don't know how long I have, I need to spend all of my time feeling good.
For all of my life, I have loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Mom gave me some old school report cards years ago. On the back of one of the 7th grade ones was the comment, "Walter needs to settle down and pay more attention in class." My 7th grade teacher, Mrs, Pennock made me move my seat up beside her desk once, I think in hopes I would settle down. All it did was get me closer to her, as she always wore these sleeveless blouses, and I would spend way too much time trying to see her breasts (they were quite nice, lol.) So, even in 7th grade, I was the class clown and loved to flirt with the girls.
My friends have always been younger than me. I don't think I ever fully grew up. I still like Peter Pan, I still believe in Santa Claus and "somewhere over the rainbow." I think we as humans need to remember that we once were children, and that we should not let that go. Yes, we need to grow up and handle adulthood. But that doesn't mean we should forget the wonder in a childs eyes, the dreams of a youth that all too many in this world never get to experience. I think that's what happened to my sweetie. I think she grew up and forgot the child within her. I think she lost track of what was important in life. And, so, I lost her.
But, mentally? You are as young as you feel. I have always loved to laugh, and have always loved to make others laugh. I think I look at life seriously when I need to, but I also see much of life as kind of irreverent. I mean, there is so much love and warmth and great people out there. But there is also much hate and anger and death and violence. Maybe laughter is my way of fighting that. I have recently lost a woman that I loved for 50 years. Long story, long-time members know most of it. She didn't die, she decided she had no room for me in her life anymore. It hurt like hell. Still does and always will. Every time I hear certain songs I will tear up. Everytime I have certain thoughts, or see certain things, it will remind me.
But I can't let that get me down or control my life. My ex-wife divorced me when my son was 2 and took him 1800 miles away. It like to killed me. But I fought it off. I had to move forward. I did what I could to stay involved in my sons life and now have a great relationship with him.
GJ, there are so many people in this world that have it so much worse than me, even some here in the VNA. I am one lucky SOB, GJ. I can still laugh, I can still enjoy life. And, if I can make you laugh along the way with my irreverence, then I feel I have done at least a little good.
Not everyone likes me, never have and never will. That's a fact of life for all of us. I look at it as their loss. I'm not perfect, but I don't think I'm all that bad. A little nuts, a little silly, perhaps, but I am who I am. I can't waste time worrying about what others think. In the short time I have left on this planet, I intend to laugh as much as possible. And, you know what? Hanging out with all you youngsters helps me do that. I really do love all I have met here, and hope I have made you at least smile. If so, I think I did some good.
So, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. They used to say in grade school that you picked on a certain girl because you liked her. So, I like to think that Golf likes me, weird as I am. So, he made a cute clip, which I see the humor in. And, even if he meant it maliciously (which he didn't) I would still laugh, and take it as a compliment. If the woman I loved for 50 years can't hurt me, can't bring me down, then it can't be done.
OK, enough rambling. We now take you back to our regularly scheduled porn.

Thanks, vectis. I so enjoy meeting this world-wide community. When I very first came to the board 6 years ago, it was the communication that caused me to come back. Then, it was Vicky that got me to join. I think the simple fact that she was here every day, talking to people and telling everyone about her personal life that got me to join the site. Her friendliness and obvious warmth are contagious. When I got here, everyone was welcoming and friendly, and I just tried to pass that on.
Oh, and about the other -- Should I start boobie exercises, maybe??![lmao :lmao:](./images/smilies/lmao.gif)

, as everyone was 'picking' on you with the age thing. I don't mind the length of a post. You can overwhelm me with all things you want to share. Just don't think dirty now! ![lmao :lmao:](./images/smilies/lmao.gif)

I can talk serious for hours, but I do love to make jokes too. Before, in between or after. Sometimes they are a bit too sarcastic, the people that know me can see/read through that though. Whenever I can give people a good laugh, it makes me smile. Why live in minor when life can be lived with much more happiness, right? In my early 20's some even said that I should do a stand up comedy show or something. Not going to happen! Then it would be 'act funny because you have to'. I just am who I am. And when writing that line, I just realized that it's one you wrote as well..?
![Image](http://serve.mysmiley.net/tongue/tongue0005.gif)
. And you sure as hell gave me some good laughs. That combined with the stories of the man behind the name. Whenever I make a promise, I keep it. Whenever I say something, I say it because I mean it. We only know eachother for about 3-4 weeks now, but I can only hope that I'll be having the joy, spirit and youth that you still have at the beautiful age of 69. ![Image](http://serve.mysmiley.net/cool/cool0004.gif)

Funny story. I'm not too familiar with the US school system, so 7th grade, what age were you when that happend?WalterB wrote:

Despite the big age difference between the both of us, I have a feeling as if you're still 26 as well, but with a little (lol) more experience. On the other hand, I have always been told that I'm too smart for my age, thinking too much about 'life', so maybe that's why that age gap doesn't feel so big as it is?WalterB wrote:

Thanks, GJ. Life is a blast. I know that some people have to endure unspeakable horrors and atrocities, but somehow we all have to find the strength to accept what we cannot change and move on. As they say, life's too short....
Oh, and I would have been 13 in the 7th grade.
