I'd thought of covid non-vaxxers as being an example of Darwinism in action.

A friend of mine told me they looked into taking a cruise out of florida for some fun. Since our governor is not allowing the cruise industry to require proof of vaccines like they want, they are making people who are unvaccinated get tested every single day and every single time they get back on the ship. Doesn't that sound like such a drag? Wouldn't it kinda ruin the mojo of your vacation to have to get a test every single day? Plus would you really want to go on a ship with people who are not vaccinated? I would not. So he DeSantis, is doing this to further business and tourism, but in effect he is hurting it? It's just so ass backwards?

As time moves on from "Freedom Day" here in the UK, where the government basically lifted all restrictions and told the people to "use your best judgement" with regards to protecting yourself, at work I have seen steadily the number of customers coming in still wearing masks dropping (while myself and the other staff are still wearing them). There are some who just took that day as meaning it's all gone and finished with... now while I admit I am not scared of it as I was, thanks to being double vaxxed, and still adhering to sensible social distancing I am still testing myself once a week and just generally acting like I have been for the past 18 months or whatever it's been now.

But honest to god if I am not able to get to a Disney park soon I may go mad... lol

I would like to point out that governor Ron DeSantis was vaccinated himself discretely back in April 2021.

Most politicians do it publicly to encourage their constituents to follow but he did it on the down low (just like trump) while he fights every proposal to mandate masks or vaccines.

Even McDonald's and Disney are going to mandate vaccines for employees, but we can't get hospitals and schools to.

It's absolutely mind-blowing that governments are forbidding schools and businesses from mandating masks at a minimum. But then, today, the U.S. Military is mandating shots for all members. But it is so hard to fight this when the powers to be. And there are others.

Just how in the HELL can you mandate that your people are not allowed to protect themselves and others? I will say this. To the best of my knowledge, any person can wear a mask whenever/wherever they want. But, then, masked people aren't causing the problems, are they?

The problem is the politicians are politicizing it has nothing to do with politics? it has everything to do with health, safety, and medical science?

But DeSantis is using it as if he is campaigning against Biden.

Saying things like "Biden is not going to take our rights away, Biden is not going to tell floridians what to do, Florida is a free state, In Florida parents decide what is best for their kids not president Biden."

And the people get all riled up and get behind him and cheer.

~smile. Actually Walt, I'm pretty sure that pre-covid there were rules against going into a bank wearing a mask. Or trying to board a flight.

But that's just me being facetious. Your point is correct. The problem is, it will probably take a tragedy in some innocent school district before the politicians will act. And even then, they'll claim it was outsiders that caused the problem.

I obviously at times put too much faith in people I believe I know, as today I have been shocked once more by someone tweeting how they personally know 5 separate people who have either died as a result or been caused serious illness (and in once case a miscarriage) from taking the vaccine and at the same time claim they don't know anyone who has had covid - this person either knows a lot of unfortunate people or they are just making this stuff up to justify their reason not to have it themselves. If you don't want it, don't have it - but don't spread false information around to scare others! Sorry just had to vent that, it really got my goat!

There are cases of people who died after getting the vaccine, But it's with extenuating circumstances, And it's like .00005% Of people or something like that.... Because it can cause blood clots. There is also a chance of getting blood clots from taking the birth control pill, It is about .0005%

Don't quote me on those numbers exactly I would have to Google it again.... I just know that there is a much higher chance of getting a blood clot from taking the birth control pill then there is from the Covid vaccine.

But women have been on the pill for years and it's an accepted risk. So if birth control pills are fine and risk from vaccine is much less than that, why blow that up?

There is so much confusion out there it is near impossible for the public to even know what to do. First off, it is not an even playing field. New York city can have 10,000 cases a day. A small town 100 miles away or out in Kansas may only have 10 a day.
Here are some news crawlers from this morning:

2. "U.S. plans to require Covid-19 vaccinations for all foreign visitors." (This only applies to "legal" visitors. You are still free to swim across the river and be accepted and bused all over the United States with no further action. The end result? Only stupid people come here legally. The smart ones just swin the river and walk on in. No Vax or mask required.)

And, in the same breath:
3. "Delta variant wave wiping out Texas' pandemic progress." (Texas governor is refusing to allow mask mandates.)
And then:
4. "U.S. Rep Herrell co-sponsors bill that could strip universities of federal funds if they mandate vaccines." So, while some are fighting to protect us, others are stepping up and threatening others if they DARE to try and protect their customers and visitors. It is so totally confusing.

To be honest I would rather just err on the side of not getting involved with it... there are risks with anything but I've had the AZ and touch wood nothing has happened to me so far - and I'm not exactly the healthiest person imaginable I wouldn't have thought, especially not lately. And everyone I personally know who has had the vaccine (either AZ or Pfizer seem the most prevalent at the vaccination centres nearby) are all fine too... and I've not even heard to the contrary around my town on the grapevine either. It's just one of those things I see someone saying things like that, it REALLY bothers me perhaps more than it should and then I just swallow it and don't engage.
