It's always flash! That was Angelina's problem yesterday too..... I don't know how flash gets messed up but it always does! BTW there was an update yesterday, did you all get it automatically? I thought chrome did it automatically for us, but I still had to download it and run/install it...

Guys and dolls? There may be a more sinister reason why the streaming has been so slow of late: deliberate throttling by the major telcoms and ISP's.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2 ... fic-speeds

It seems to be both a backlash by the telcoms/ISPs against the new Net Neutrality rules put out by the FCC, and a power play by the major telcoms (AT&T, Comcast, et. al.) to skim more money from the carriers at the expense of the users.

Another ruse that the telcoms are doing is to offer alleged "unlimited" talk/text plans with a major catch: streaming video is severely throttled to less than 600kps, and usage is even terminated at 800kps-1Mps...and this in spite of offering speeds near 100mps.

So...you might want to call your ISP and make sure they aren't throttling your services without you knowing it.

Vicky: It's 1125 pm EDT on Friday. I tried to send (submit) a pm to Walt, and it took five tries before I could get around a 503 error "No server available to handle your request". So to test further, I went to 'video's, and back to the earliest shows, while I can 'play' them with little or no delay on VNA, when I try to download them I get the 503 error, it takes several up to six tries before I can get around the 503 error code. What is going on that all the servers are busy at this time of night? I checked, and there were no people logged into the system or at least showing logged in but me, yet the 503 "no servers are available to handle your request" keeps popping up. If I wait a minute or so, and try again, it 'might' go through and start the download, or it may give me another 503 error code. I stopped after the second attempt to grab one of the old shows, it's apparent that something is hogging servers, but not sure what.
The archives appear to be working for the most part, I do get the 503 error over there in that section also, not quite as frequent, but still more than 35% of the tries hit that error five or six times before I'm able to watch a 'archived show'.

Hopefully this can point you in the direction of the problem, I should mention, that about half the time I try to refresh the forum section I get this error (503) also.

Personally i am having huge problems downloading as a member, or watching live shows.

I freaked out at webair yesterday, I mean really freaked out, even threatened to move hosting companies. I was positive it was a server issue since I can surf anywhere in the world and my internet is blazing fast. When I go to speedtest.net and even connect to the webair servers in New York, my download is 170 mbsp and upload is 11 mbsp. That is even better than the 100 mbps service I am paying for.

So why can't I watch a movie or a camshow on my own freaking site?

Turns out it's a roadrunner backbone problem. Webair spent 2 hours with me downloading software, and teaching me how to use it (boy do I feel bad now) so I can connect to my servers and test the connections from my sites to any ip address in the world.

I can generate a report that you can send to your isp to show exactly where the problem is.

Mine looks like this:
mtr.JPG
its pretty fascinating really, so you can see the packet loss starts at xo networks, then more packet loss on roadrunner networks, then more packet loss on brighthouse networks, so i sent this to brighthouse, my isp and now they at least know where the problems are and how to address them.

so if anyone is having issues right now, email me your ip address and I can run a report for you.
Vicky:
Would u when u have some time (note that's a four letter word...) please run a report on my IP and let me see if I can find where the bottleneck might be.
IP is :24.237.203.234

Thanks for your time and trouble.

Some of that is caused by Webair as they are trying to figure out what the issues are on the servers. Apparently Lylah had issues in her show, so they are digging deep and trying to replicate the problem. We have been throwing a lot of hardware and resources at it, they keep adding new servers and more ram, but of course that is not going to fix it. I think they found most of the issues and we are very near to putting all this behind us, and will have smooth sailing from here. You must notice that the sites are much faster and more responsive that before? I definitely notice it.

Bahaha. I flashed my boobs during Lylah's show and they're massive so I'm pretttty sure I broke the internet that night, Vicky. Lol!!!

Sometimes certain girls' shows will lag but it could be my crappy connection. If it gets so bad, I log out and it's usually okay after that. Overall, the site is running pretty smoothly, I'd say!

As for streaming, a 7 minute video took almost an hour to load at one point and I don't even think I finished it. It was a BTS video of Julia's. I'm pretty sure that's on my end. Crappy internet. Or maybe I have viruses on my laptop. x/ It's not even a year old yet but who knows. Zany told me to take it somewhere, but I just don't have the time right now.

Kitty,

There are a lot of things you can try. A computer is like a car in that it needs to be maintained.
Have you cleared your cache recently? That is important. Search for "how to clear your cache in (whatever browser you are using.)" If you use more than one browser, do that in all of them. After that is done, reboot.

Check your Adobe Flash. Go to "Add/Remove programs." Remove Flash, then reboot. Next go to the http://www.adobe.com Click the Menu button. Down at the bottom you'll find Flash. Click that, download and install the latest version, then reboot again.

1) Do you have security software in place? Avast is a free program that people have sworn by for years. Go to http://www.avast.com Download and run their program.

2) Have you run "clean-up" software? This is software that checks and cleans your registry and looks thru your computer for superfluous items. Go to http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner Download and run that one. Run the free version first. If you like the results and If you can afford it ($24.95,) purchase their Professional version.

3) Are you set for automatic updates?

4) You can also run a speed test, which will check out your ISP.
a. Go to http://www.ipchicken.com A window will pop-up which will show you your IP address. Go back to the first post of this thread and read it. Then email that IPAdd to Vicky (vicky@vettenationlive.com). She will test your links and look for issues there.

If you think you might have viruses, go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/. Download and run their free version. That will give you a good idea of your security status.

You shouldn't really have to take your computer to Geeks-R-Us. But, if you're not very knowledgeable about these issues, maybe that might be a good idea. If you do, ask them questions and write down the suggestions they have.

There are others much smarter than me about these things. But, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.
I can resist everything except temptation.

There were a lot of routing errors, not even really caused by webair, they had to get senior network engineers involved. There was a big part of the comcast backbone that was erratic, so anyone who was routed over that comcast sector had problems. I really feel like it's all resolved and everyone should be able to download videos and or stream videos from the sites super quick now. BadKitty if you try that same video again and you still have a problem let me know ok?

@Walt
I tried all of the things you suggested.
-I deleted and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player. Not sure if there's much of a change or not...
-Downloaded Avast Antivirus...and it didn't say anything was wrong.
-I got CCleaner...and it seemed to delete a lot of things.
-I got the ISP and sent it to Vicky, so we'll see what she says. I swear, it just has to be my internet.

@Vicky
Who knows, maybe it's the specific video itself? I'm trying to watch Bathing Beauties BTS again. And the only way it loads is if I pause it for an extreme amount of time, and even the stuff that's loaded, it lags. Like, the video will freeze but I'll still be able to hear audio. I'm only 1:37 minutes in and it's only near halfway loaded...and even now, the video will lag, but audio will still play. It lags a lot. It may even lag more now that I did all of those programs...or maybe it's the same, I'm not sure.

Now, I always clear my history and cache, and most of the other things you can delete on Firefox itself. I do it every day. It's like an OCD thing. And Zany said doing that all the time could make it worse, which I had no idea. x/

My internet provider is Frontier. It's not like it's Verizon so it's probably one of the crappiest internet providers around. And I only have my phone on the wifi, so it shouldn't slow my network down that much either.

Maybe I could try the site on Google Chrome instead...or just a different video entirely and see what happens then.

Bad Kitty, couple things.

1) maybe have Vicky hook you up with the Webair guy on Skype for troubleshooting. It worked for me.

2) Nice to meet you and welcome!

Carmen's video lagged for me tonight. Julia's was fine for a bit, but started lagging out...coincidentally on every time she would mention my name or something...and Sunny's is so bad for me. I turned my modem off and on, restarted...pretty much everything you can do. So, I don't know what's going on...I don't think the live cams were ever this bad for me. Maybe I messed up my computer more by trying to make it faster. I don't know. :(

if you have done those things, I doubt very seriously you have messed anything up. If you sent your IP to Vicky, she will have Webair look into it. And G0lfshafts suggestion was a good one. If Webair is willing, maybe Vicky will help set you up there.

I'm almost willing to bet it's an ISP issue, based on what you've said. Have you run the speed test yet? http://www.speedtest.net/ Let us know the results.

Vicky also had another link for you to run so she could get results to send to Webair. I'll try to find it for you.

For the speed test, it said,

Ping: 73ms
Download speed: 1.40mbps
Upload speed: 0.26mbps

I don't know much about that kinda thing, but it looks to me like it all sucks. Dx

Your correct in your assessment of the speed test. THAT SUCKS should be at a mininum at least three if not four times that.
How do you get your internet, does it come in over the phone lines ie DSL, or do you get it on a cable with maybe your TV and phone service ? or is it a cable that's ONLY the internet ?

We have the same provider for our phone as the internet, but it's not dial up or whatever. It's just their internet. It doesn't help that I live in the ass crack of Pennsylvania, and in the middle of the woods...but my internet isn't bad for any other site...just here... x/

Don't ever judge by Sunny's shows, a lot of times she uses her mifi usb card, that is really not recommended for a camshow.
You said it works on other sites but not on VNA? Are you streaming video on those other sites? Or downloading large files? Watching live shows? The streams are huge... it's one thing to surf the web, read blogs, twitter and check email, it's another to be receiving these huge streams. I have never heard of anyone getting 1 mb download speed these days. Can you find out what its supposed to be? IE What are you paying for?

Our internet is Frontier...it's not like it's Verizon. My parents would never pay that much for that. xD

Well, I watch Netflix all the time and that's fine. YouTube occasionally, but even when it's a bigger video, most of it loads and the rest loads while I'm watching.

It's pretty clear at this point that it's me having these problems and it's not cause of you guys.

I don't know much about my internet. Like I said, I AM in the woods with a lot of trees surrounding my house.

Even when I use my Xbox even though that connects off WiFi, a normal sized 7 GB game takes daaaays to download. So it has to be my internet. x/
