Thanks for reminding me, I've got to block 2 more states before I even get home!

I read back and saw I was supposed to send you a screen cap of sites blocking VPN's. I don't remember specifically which ones. But if/when I run across them again, this time I'll get a screen cap.

Some interesting reading for you about the Texas law. What are your thoughts?

What do I think? If it were viable, I would ask you to take your block down until actual enforcement takes effect. In Texas, the law was blocked before it could be implemented (1 Sept, 2023,) I'm sure you realize what a PITA it is. But I also understand your nervousness about lawsuits. My personal main aggravation is that I need my VPN on to see a cam show or a site but have to turn it off to get into the forum (thank you, Texas, I get a faded, non-active page if I leave it on.) Don't know how others handle it. Not even sure how many HAVE to deal with it. But, right now, according to the article, the "law" is blocked. There are legal injunctions against enforcing it. There are active lawsuits about this, and nothing can be done until the issue is resolved in the courts. I also understand that there are 7 or 8 (whatever) states, and Texas is only one. I'm not saying that you should tackle each state individually. Best to just protect yourself right up front.

I am seriously enjoying my stay in Arizona, as a VPN is not required here. When I get home, I am going to write every one of my Reps in Austin and send this article to them, I'll also post the link to my Twitter. Can't put it on FB, as my acct there is non-porn.

While I support my state and Governor Gregg Abbott, this points out some apparent serious lying to the public in order to push your own personal agenda across. This is totally unacceptable in America. I may post to other pages I see as well.

I'm sorry. No one should take the chance of disobeying a law just because it's not being enforced at the moment. It's still a law. Someone could file a lawsuit any moment.

I would hate to be the one that is chosen to make an example out of. I could lose my house, everything I've worked my whole life for and end up bankrupt. Nope I'm not going to disobey the law because it's inconvenient for members.

Everyone should be writing to their government over this. I did not create this problem and I am suffering because of it. How many potential members do not join my sites because they get the warning page and don't bother getting a VPN. So instead they go to some site in Germany that doesn't have to follow these laws.

Our sales are definitely affected. It really hurts us. I even considered putting a link to VPN's on my twitter but that could be seen as helping minors get to my site, so I can't even do that.

Anyway, lol, here's a paragraph I ran across. No's 1 and 3 are of interest. There's a whole story connected with it. I'll keep the bookmark for a few days in case you're interested.

Verification Policy
To comply with regional laws and regulations, we must block persons from viewing or joining this site when accessing from:
1) Regions that require age verification using photo or other identifying personal information as this is a serious privacy risk. Includes US states Louisiana, Utah, Mississippi, Virginia, Arkansas, Texas, Montana and North Carolina. See FREE SPEECH COALITION for details.
2) Regions that do not respect intellectual property rights.
3) Protocols that obfuscate geolocation including VPN, proxy, relay or other such services.
4) Tools such as non-standard web browsers, clients or methods including downloaders, bots, scripts. Logins are limited to one session at a time.

Where is that posted Walt? On which website? So far the law as I understand it does not say anything about blocking VPN's?

I have family that have children around 10 and 12 years old. They put filters on the children's ipads and phones, (yes they have phones at that age) so they can't see things by accident, or search for them when they get older. They don't give it another thought.

When the kids go to school, the schools automatically have filters on the computers there. It's simple. No surfing porn at school.

So to parents in Louianna and Texas etc, why can't you just be good parents and protect your kids? You are in charge? Why do you need the government to babysit your kids for you, and create all sorts of ridiculous laws that infringe on the rights and privacy of grownups to see adult material they want to see?

Exactly! Parents are in-charge themselves to protect their own kids. Some people getting spoilt due to the fact they are not disciplined and do things beyond their control, its not the Porn fault. An individual should know how to balance his/her life, blocking porn isn't an option. What if their kids were attracted to something else, like drinks? foods? cars? would they go on a blocking spree for those things too?

On the entry webpages, it is not fair for us to put up the negative effects of porn that says might harm some people who are closet perverts who ignore to take care of their personal lives. Well these people are bound to get addicted, if not porn, to something or the other, as they are not raised properly. These are the ones who is lacking the self control.

Moreover, our porn sites do have the caution mentioned before entering the website that it is for adults and to make one's own choice by clicking yes or no, "if you are +18". Clicking yes or no is purely an individual's option who is going to view it.

If something is attractive, it deserve to be appreciated as being attractive. A hot woman makes my nose bleed, it does not mean I should blame the woman, instead I should figure out how to take care of myself.
Other way, too many candy can cause teeth damage, and it's like them imposing the terms on manufacturers to write a tag on candy stating " Candy is injurious to health and it damages teeth" instead of managing their own character.

The 18th amendment (prohibition) didn't work either.

Hey, folks, this is the government that is doing this, NOT the parents. Parents in Texas and other states are just as responsible as any other state. It's just like anything else in life. Some people are good and decent and pretty much pay attention and do it right. Then there are others who couldn't care less. It's the same everywhere. The government is the one thinking that naked women are evil. I haven't seen one statistic about how many kids are stealing credit cards and joining porn sites. Or just watching the free stuff that's all over the place.

As a resident of Texas, I can quickly find any amount of horrific pornography. I've seen bestiality, VERY hardcore bondage and BDSM lots of really scary stuff.

But watching Vicky Vette will probably ruin my whole life.

That's a cut and paste, Vicky, right off the page. This is the second I've seen. The first was worded about the same.

According to the Free Speech coalition, we do not have to block vpns. We cannot encourage people to use vpns to get around the law though. I can't post links to vpns.

Someone at the meeting today gave me an idea. Have all traffic from those states go to a blank page with a login or join button. Maybe with a video of me explaining why it is this way. If they join, the age verification happens right after they pay ccbill or epoch.

Having a credit card is not proof of age since 16 and 17 year olds can have credit cards. At least that way I only pay for verification for serious people not looky loos as it can be up to $1 a shot.

It's a little more complicated since there are 40 sites but that is the general idea.

And this way Walt and Stacie, Greg, Anthony K and everyone else who lives in those States won't have to use a vpn.

I'm just posting what the page says. My thinking is that idiots make the laws. But then, it's up to the people to figure out how to obey the law. I haven't read enough to know what it says about VPN access. Maybe the law doesn't say it. So maybe those sites are blocking VPN's because you can now access content that the government has said you can't.

I'm wondering if I can change my static IP address to one in New Mexico. It's only 5 miles from me, lol.

That's a pretty great idea. It seems like it wouldn't be that bad to implement, especially with your skills. You could probably set up a template to make all 40 front pages easier to create.

I am another one who starts up my VPN whenever I want to visit. I also turn it off when I leave, as the additional ping from the VPN negatively impacts my gaming.
