Found the reference picture for it after they moved on and did this. Gave a copy to the remaining family members as my way of honouring them and a great way to remember them
That's very nice.

Thought today I would introduce you to a bit of my photography skills which still falls under the purview of my art skills.
This piece is 100% legitimate. Not doctored or enhanced in any way whatsoever.

Very nice. Photography has always interested me. It is something I am hoping to get back into.

But I've never really gotten into digital. I was thinking of resurrecting my old film camera and shooting black and white. (Shades of Ansel Adams).

I take pictures, but I"m not a photographer. Again, I don't have the proper "taste" (?) to know what makes a good picture. If I take pictures of people, it's just friends at whatever location. Then I'll take location pictures. I've got a ton of hard-copy pictures I'd love to scan into my computer. But it's a time consuming process. And my attention span won't let me do more than a few at a time.

Thanks for the good responses guys. During my art course, which I earned two diplomas, we spent a month solely on photography with high quality cameras and they even taught us how to use the dark rooms and develop our own photos. They also took us to the city dump and a graveyard and made us make a collage with the photos we took.
That course taught us a Lot of different skills.
Wanted to go into teaching at the end of my illustration degree at university but I was unable to finish because of the accident that broke my hip and caused an infection in the lining of my hip which has never healed

I like pictures, but have never been what I would call a photographer. Most of my shots are OK, I guess, but nothing to yell about. I'm thinking of trying to find a way to post a collage here. But I'm thinking more of a file of pictures you can just scroll through, as opposed to a true collage, which is a collection of pictures n a single page (I think, lol.) If I could do that, I wouldn't have to take up too much space by posting 30 pictures.

There was a photography course I took for fun many years ago in the days of film photography. One of the exercises they gave was to photograph a white object on a white background, e.g., white egg against a white sheet. And similarly, a black object against a black background. Give it a try if you fancy and lets see what you come up with.

Sounds like an interesting experiment Lance. I actually don’t know how many images you are able to upload at any one time in a post is but I and I am sure all the others among us would love to see all or any of your work

Oh that course was ages ago, back in the last century. Any work I did then is long gone, (at least 4 changes of address since then). But it was interesting. But one image the instructors presented has stuck in my mind. An egg on a white background, with the light source coming through what is probably a venetian blind. The curvature of the egg breaks up the straight line shadows of the blind to create a very interesting effect.

Was gonna have uploaded this last night but had a really bad asthma attack which actually happened while I was on cam at Vicky’s show. Feel so dumb but I know that I shouldn’t. Had no control over it happening after all.

Anyway I thought that you all might like this piece.
Enjoy

Each half is good in its own right. However, there doesn't seem to be any connectivity between the two halves, which leaves a disjoint impression for the overall work.

Yeah I understand the almost disjointed feeling. I just did the border with tap and did two different pieces which I can always show individually in hindsight. The idea was to do another landscape but I changed my mind at the last minute

They're both women. Isn't that a connection?

They're both women, lol. Whatever they're experiencing, they are experiencing together as women.

I thought today we’d try for something fun and a bit whimsical which we can all recognise from growing up with the ninja turtles.
Hope you all enjoy.
Both turtles are taken from different sources and styles which is why they look different
Sort of a challenge to myself, to test how versatile I can be
