As a tribute to remembering the 9/11 attacks I wanted to do something. The pre attack skyline on a sunrise.

I’ve not forgotten you all it’s just been a hard week. I was told on Wednesday that the driver who took me to my specialist appointment tested positive for Covid and frankly I’m not feeling all that great.
Tested negative on Thursday but have to run another either Monday or Tuesday. So I am sharing this one you today.
A2 so really big. Took 3 weeks all told
It’s called “Izabelle in Oils”

This is a few years old that I just re found. This is a portrait of a foot soldier just after he got his dome knocked off by Donatello. Even though I have actually improved as an artist on the whole but I still really like it

While dealing with grief I am working through it with art. This is something I did at uni. I know it’s only small but hands are some of the hardest things. Drawing hands that are drawing are much harder.
P.S. when I was at uni I was slim. Really slim, I also wore a heavy, big biker jacket which is why it makes my wrist look tiny

Wow. Y’know in all my years of being an artist and the numerous years of art history I have never seen this piece before so thank you for showing me something completely new

Thought I’d share this piece of life studies art with you today. This piece was done at uni. It wasn’t until university they started us on male nude models instead of the female ones. Maybe will share some of those ones later

Today I thought we’d look at this piece. One of my first college projects. They had all kinds of different cloths on lines on the ceiling and told us to work on trying to work on texture and we can use mixed media.
I hope you all enjoy

You're welcome Highwulf. I think it is my favourite Escher work. Perhaps it will give you some new ideas to explore.

I've decided to sign up for something called RTY Art. A girl named Rebecca runs the site. She deals in drawing faces, so I decided to give it a shot. I've always kind of liked drawing/painting, but have never studied it. I'll see something I like, so I'll try it. Then, when it's no good, I quick give up. (I have a pretty short attention span.) So, with this, hopefully I will stick with it, practice and get good. Would be quite cool to draw a picture of Vicky, but that would take years. Popeye Wong has done some great Vicky work. He gave me a couple of his Vicky originals a few years ago. I treasure them, And, yes, they're hanging on my wall.

This course is black and white face drawing, with a set of 8 drawing pencils of varying hardness, and some other items. It goes into great detail of drawing faces. It starts out with a circle. Then it goes into how to partition it to the various sections of the face and how to define each. I'm "early-practicing" with a mechanical pencil. Hard to do shading with a mechanical pencil, but once I get my pencil kit, I'll dive into the course and we'll see what happens. Here's what I did yesterday. First stab at it.

So, I basically cheated. The course has pictures to practice with, so I saw this one and decided to try it. Cheat? I put the paper over the screen and traced out the basic points. Then just used my mechanical pencil to start filling in a few details (shading.) The course has you start with a circle, then 'divide' the circle into segments for finishing the face.

Now, before you say, "That's not too bad for a first effort, consider this:

It's a picture of a girl :lmao: Looks like a guy to me, LOL. I need to refine my efforts, I know a guy from a girl. Really! I DO! lol

You’re just getting in to drawing portraits so it will take a little while, definitely stick with it and you will get much better. Just like with your painting.
Looks to me you have things pretty much in their right place and you are using a mechanical pencil to try and shade which is really hard.

This one was a interesting challenge as I have never worked on it before. I call it inverse drawing. You cover the paper with charcoal and you “Draw” by rubbing out the chalk revealing the paper and when you finish you have a “normal” drawing… *sigh* I really didn’t explain that well. Sorry.
