Yes definately my eating habits go in stages.. probably not necessarily the healthiest either.. but my employment keeps me physically active, I don't know if that must make somewhat of a big difference at as good as I feel at 50+..

Balance! That's what it's all about. Connie posted this on her FB page and I thought it deserved repeating, lol.

The other side of balance? This is NOT fried rice with peas and carrots. It was supposed to be. Maybe when I was married, I should have learned to cook.

Kirstie wrote: March 15th, 2019, 2:24 pm I need to start eating better. I barely get any vegetables in my diet, or fruit. I've been so stressed so I just basically eat toxic waste like fast food, or stuff that is quick to make up. I know it's bad, and I hate the weight that I'm at, too. I know I'm the only one to blame for that. I try to diet, eating salads and fruit and what not and I usually only last a week. :( I just don't have the motivation, and I really hate having to cook up meals or anything crazy so that it's made up ahead of time. I'm just a mess. Lol. :(

But the original post, I understand.... I'll get a craving for something I haven't had in a real long time... Mainly it's for snacks, but an occasional food, I'll want that I haven't had in so long. Lol.
I think we all go through different things in different seasons. I've had points where, I was traveling a lot. I wasn't eating great. I tend to give myself grace. I think we often suffer when we put ourselves in our own mental prisons. I also, think one should never label food as good or bad. I tend to see it as, nutrition. But if you had a fatty meal, then the next meal try to eat add a side salad. Actually, fast food places have fairly good options these days. I often will opt for a grilled chicken sandwich with either a side salad or fruit salad. Chick-A-fila has many amazing options. Even at McDonald's I will do much the same. It's about being consistent and loving yourself. I always think, I eat fruits and veg because I love and respect my body. But I never shame myself for enjoying french fries. It's about balance. I think 90% of it is mental. It's overcoming your own mind. I also, allow myself to have a fatty meal once a week. A rich desert once a week. I find when I do that, I look forward to having pizza or having a greasy burger. I totally get where you are at mentally. I was 100% in your shoes with food in 2007. But I also, was at a bit of a mental low. You learn to accept your body and love your body. Yes, it's heavier right now. But this beautiful body has carried you over your life time.

Actually, I'm a little heavier then I prefer right now. My weakness is super high quality olive oil and dates. I love them. But I have to tell myself, I need to measure the olive oil and only have 1-2 dates a day because it's calorie dense. I tend to think of weight management, to be nothing more then whatever mental hacks work for you.
I wish I could eat a snack a week, and fast food once a week. Sometimes I really just let myself go...like a lot. Lol. I can't remember the last time I was skinny. It's mainly in my belly and my legs. I used to not care about my weight, but I have moments where I really can't stand it. I just need some motivation. I want to eat healthy, I do, but I feel like eating salads and healthy food is blah...but I guess that's why it's healthy. I'd eat a greasy burger every day if I could. Lol. Chocolate is a very bad weakness for me too, and my teeth are starting to get bad, so I have to stop.

I tried to the liquid diet for a while, and it worked for like a week. Lol. All you could have was water, chocolate protein shakes, broth, and a fat free jello for a snack. The shakes are good but it's the not breaking and eating 20 other things that's the problem. I'm an overeater, and eat like 2 times more than what I should with servings. That's an issue of mine too. I know I'll never be satisfied with a small meal or portion if I don't cut it down a bit. And I have to get my ass back to the gym. I have a planet fitness membership that keeps charging me money and I haven't gone in months. Even if I don't go there to try to lose weight, I need to start going just to try and get healthier.

You could try doing what all the body builders do? Eat five or six small meals a day. Your stomach starts to shrink after a while and you don't get as hungry, and you're never more than two hours away from your next meal even right after you just finished eating!

It could make it more interesting and fun?

Or have you tried the myfitnesspal app? Did we talk about that yet in this post? It's pretty cool and helps a lot, and their blog is just full of great ideas of things to try... Recipes, workouts.... It's free.

I don't know if I just crave any food but every once in awhile I will want a Coke or DrPepper. I will buy a 20 oz and drink it then will not want 1 for another 6 months. As far as food I generally eat what I want I just watch how much of it I eat. I do walking in my job so on my days off I try to walk at least a half a mile. When I have several days off I walk a half a mile then a mile the next day. I eat a lot of chicken cause that is what my daughter loves to eat the most. Got to fill her up....hahaha! I mostly pan cook our meat sometimes I grill it. We have been trying the Quorn Chik'n Patties (meatless & soy-free) which I have added sauteed onions too them.

I know I have lost some weight cause my pants keep sliding down and I am wearing a belt!! I am just trying to be healthier! I feel better than I have in the past!

If u need motivation, just think about what u want for yourself. Your happiness starts with yourself, no one else!!!

Zany
Enjoy each day we are not promised tomorrow!

Well, I want to lose weight...but at the same time, I loooove food. And healthy food just isn't appealing to me. I wish I never had to eat again. Lol. :(

I grill all my meat now, Zany. I line a muffin pan with tin foil (for cleaning.) I lay a small grill I have across that, then put my meat on the grill. It works pretty good, and clean-up's a snap.
