About to continue my playthrough of Dark Souls remastered this evening. Just for an hour or so... definitely can't say I am enjoying it as much as I did Bloodborne!

I bought a used PS4 specifically for Bloodborne. I was not disappointed. 😄

Bloodborne is a game I had always wanted to play, but it just wasn't clicking with me. I didn't have the patience, or the skill I thought, to do it and every so often after the last several years since it was first available on Playstation Plus I would have a go and get nowhere. But then this year, a few months ago, I started from scratch and "got it". I documented my adventure over on twitter... and I played through it and did the DLC too and the feeling of accomplishment and enjoyment was so amazing. So that's why I thought I'd go back to Dark Souls and while I am plodding through it, it definitely feels more frustrating and a chore than Bloodborne.

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment, beating a game that has historically whipped your butt. Great job!

I am not sure if it's even something that's vaguely doable but Among Us released today on consoles - it's part of the Xbox Game Pass and also available on Playstation store... if anyone is up for an international game of sabotage and deception!

Davest mentioned Carcassonne over on the Christmas 2021 thread. That triggered a memory of a show I used to watch - Table Top, hosted by Wil Wheaton. I don't play board games, but watching Wil's show with all the various guests he had on was entertaining.

The short version of the episode playing Carcassonne is about a half-hour long:

Sometimes there are extended versions posted. This one is about an hour and a half:

Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel and Oats) were players in this episode:

My brother got me the Lego Harry Potter video game collection for Christmas so I have been playing a little of that - which is a nice counterpoint of getting myself utterly bogged down by Dark Souls Remastered... I have got to the point now, with that latter game, where all my enthusiasm has just gone. Making progress is no longer feeling like an accomplishment, just a "ah good, I don't have to do any of that again" type feeling. And yet somehow I am still playing it...

I watched a bunch of episodes of Tabletop back in the day. It was a really great introduction to lots of different games. Before dozens and dozens of folks were doing board game reviews, it was a great way to see how a particular game played and I made lots of buying decisions (both for and against) after watching episodes of Tabletop. Wil and his guests made every episode entertaining, while still presenting a decent overview of the rules and gameplay. If you have an interest in board games, you can't go wrong watching this show, unless you have poor impulse control and end up wanting to buy everything.

There's a couple of good board game channels on YouTube based in the UK - Dicebreaker and No Rolls Barred. Dicebreaker have partnered before with my favourite video game YouTube channel OutsideXbox to run their own Dungeons & Dragons campaigns which are always a lot of fun, but they've also played versions of Werewolves during the pandemic, as well as online social deduction games like Among Us.

There are some gaming channels that I like to watch such as whatculture gaming, outside xbox and outside xtra, but I watch those for information or news or fun facts and such. I just dont get into watching others play games. If I'm interested in the game I would rather play it myself and not know everything that is going to happen. Much like not wanting to know movie spoilers. Thats probably why I dont get the big deal with Twitch. If I'm not even watching Siri Dahl's twitch game streaming channel than you know twitch isnt for me lol

Hi there, Matt here,

I have a collection of board games that have not seen use in years, but I like them - I have a copy of Carcassone shown above but also some other good ones too. (Dixit, Tsuro, Resistance, Once Upon A Time...all good ones)

I used to play PC games but I stopped a long time ago although I still make my own from time to time (software developer by trade) which I enjoy playing.

I do like turning my sessions with VNA Live and other erotic stimulation into 'games' of a sort.

Here's a sampling of what I'm up to at the moment in terms of 'gaming'.

Thanks,

I've been waiting for 'the Iron Oath' to come out on Steam a 2d pixel art fantasy rpg style game but it keeps getting delayed.

I've recently bought but not played much of 'Yes, Your Grace' and 'South Park - the Stick of Truth'.

I prefer 2d games over modern 3d games these days.

(ps updated google docs link above for Round 3 vs Kimber Lee)

For what it is worth - I'll be taking a break from watching cams for the forseeable future.

Personal reasons that 's all....but thanks for the shows you all did.

Hello again,

I was going through my PC and found a few game related (and even covid related) bits and pieces from years ago.

In my spare time I write my own games (which I won't advertise here) but on my hard drive I have a bunch of ideas that never ever got built.

I thought I'd share as a bit of fun two of the ideas that I found while rummaging through my PC today.

The first:

A virus where there is a race to create a vaccine and give to everyone as soon as possible - I wrote this design in 2010, and had the beginnings of a level worked out (attached below).

The second was a rather silly game with working title "Invasion of the Intergalactic Alien Pornstars" where the player needed to escape being abducted by UFOs belonging to the Intergalactic Alien Porn Star Federation hovering over a city - attached design brief below... that was in January 2019.

A bit of silliness never went astray....
