I walked from home to the school, we have some basketball games today. It's a beautiful -34 here this morning, sure woke me up. It's about one kilometer and I had just made a hot chocolate by time I got here it had ice in it. I need to buy some winter boots, sneakers aren't really that warm

Sneakers? Julie, get some snow boots. If you were to slip and fall and have trouble getting up, your feet will be the first to freeze. Then, you're guaranteed not to go any further. (And your team of aspiring NBA players will lose!) C'mon, girl. You're smarter than that. ArcticExplorer :walt:

-34C in Canada ... 40C in Australia. The variety of temperatures keeps amazing me.

Dutch nights will be around -8C for a whole week and during the day it'll be around -1C. And I heard some snow is heading my way again. Image

:wtf: SNOW we don't do snow here ,it's the Isle of Wight not the Isle of White,we have about 3 inches at the moment and it's still falling.
Our last serious snowfall was in 1981,we just aren't
prepared for it,we are the sunshine island (alright last year the rainy island was more appropriate).
Mind you that may come in handy as rain is forecast for Sunday so the snow may not last. The schools are closed for the day and I think most of the workforce will have a day off ,island roads aren't the best in the country anyway and with snow on the steep hills wil be a hazard for local drivers.
I don't expect much sympathy from North America but your used to it.lol

I endured -50F once in Fairbanks, Alaska. My car wasn't prepared sufficiently, and when I tried to drive home, the radiator froze up. Cost me near $200 to get it towed, thawed out and refilled with proper coolant.

Years ago when a nasty cold wave hit Seattle (no higher than 5 degrees F during the day) we went skiing up in the mountains. it was -20 F at the base and I'm not sure how cold it was at the top but I do know that the wind chill was -100 F up there. Chairlifts often stalled, stranding the skiers in the cold stiff wind, me included. The snow was so dry that it was like skiing on sandpaper. I had a bad case of frostbite on my left ear. It swelled and became blue and hard. I suffered for a week but I didn't lose my ear.

I'm not sure how cold it was last night I was told -47C, but I did see a 8 moose huddled around a fire drinking hot chocolate! It warmed up to around -25 :excited:
