Day 2 to set it up and turn it on.

Day 3: “What? There’s teams?”

I know, I know. I was pulling her leg.

If it was an iphone, it would take longer than a day to set it up.

Row, row, row your boat
watching on the screen,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,

Not really but I heard Norway is in it...

I rowed yesterday for 50 minutes, I have never rowed that long before it was over 10,000 m I did stop a couple of times for just a min because my butt hurt sitting on that hard seat... by the end of that I had blisters on both hands and one heel LOL..... who knew!

I slept like a baby last night!

10K in 50 minutes is a pretty good pace. That's faster than I could run 10K.

Norway lost 1-0 to New Zealand in the opening game. Major upset - Norway are ranked 12, New Zealand are 26.

Exercise guru Vicky Vette has been bugging me for years to get off my dead butt and exercise a little. Before my recent vacation, Vicky sent me the contact info for an incredible exercise artiste'. Well, she motivated me and I actually did a few things while I was on vacation. Worked out in a gym, mostly arm weights. Then I went out one night and walked a half-mile. Man! I feel great. Why look at the difference.

Vicky loves to exercise. She loves it and works hard to stay in such great shape. (No pun intended, but, I understand, lol.)

But I know thar Rokkerr was also a great motivator.

Had a doctor appointment today and apparently I have lost between 10 and 15 pounds in the last three months. I guess the walks in the 90+ degree heat have made a difference. I am down 25 pounds from my highest weight a couple years ago. A few more pounds lost and I will be below 200. I don't think I have been below 200 pounds (91 kilos) since the latter part of the Reagan administration, LOL.

Captain Lance! That is incredible - how impressive and inspirational! If I could just get back to my 10-minute miles I would be thrilled... I haven't been running for almost a year because of this damn sciatica / piriformis or whatever the hell it is thing that hurts in my butt! I can only run one or two miles slowly now as a word warm up and my real workout is the rower and weights.

I came in first in my rowing again this morning, that's the 55 to 59 year old age group, but I always check the other age groups to just for fun, and there is a lady who is 62 that puts me to shame every time, so I'm going to have to up my game as I get older because in a year and a half we will both be in the 60-65 group and I won't be first anymore at my current pace.

I got to say I've improved just in the month that I've had the rower though, I started off at 2:30 for 500 meters and now I'm at 2:05! My goal is to get under 2! Then I'll feel like I have accomplished something.

The difference between the men's times and the women's times is huge though! The men are at 1:30!

Thanks Vicky. But you must have misread something somewhere. I have never done a 10 minute mile - that is my target. My best time so far is about 10:30.

Good for you in your rowing, but you've got to watch out for those old ladies. When I participate in a timed road run, I usually find that my position among the over 60 men is better than my position in the over 60s for both genders. There are a lot of fast ladies out there!! (eg. 3rd amongst the over 60 men, 10th amongst the over 60s overall).
