He played out arena last year and I had the opportunity to work those shows. He is really the guy everyone thinks he is. Super nice, easy to talk to and very appreciative of everyone fan. He did two days of back to back shows.CGYMike wrote:Connie was surprised by our daughter this afternoon and are now attending a Garth Brooks Concert...the man is in town for 7 concerts! Wow...thats some star power after all these years. He can still pack 'em in

OK - time to confess here. Actually, I'll make you guess and tell you tomorrow.
I bet none of you will guess which was the best encore I have ever seen by any artist!
Prize to anyone who gets it!

The man goes away for 14 years, comes back and continues to be able to sell his product. It just isn't his songs everyone comes for, but the way he makes everyone feel that this is concert is just for them and he isn't going anywhere until we have had enough. Garth is doing 7 shows in Calgary and even at that everyone is coming away very happy. The afternoon show I saw started at 3pm he played until 6pm and had another show at 7:30. I can't imagine he had trouble sleeping that night.

Almost, but not quite rokker - there was a tribute act on the support bill.rokkerr wrote:PeterL22 wrote:OK - time to confess here. Actually, I'll make you guess and tell you tomorrow.

So here's some background - when I were lad, back in the day, my main bands were Sabbath, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd (sometimes being a Brit has its advantages). I have decided that The Stones, Who, Kinks and Zombies are cool. I am sitting writing this wearing a Moorhead t-shirt and have seen them many times (so please speak up).
But (insert drum roll here) the BEST ever encore to a concert I have EVER seen was
Donny Osmond!!!
My wife was a massive Osmonds fan (and I bet you had a thing for Donny too Henna) and I was dragged to an open air concert in Merthyr (Wales) where he was the main act. I had been standing in a field all day watching other acts (including a reasonable Abba tribute act) surrounded by ladies of "a certain age" and it was raining. No beer as I had to drive home to Southampton after the gig - so not very happy really. And the weather got worse.
Donny did really professional show and I must admit it was quite good (he's no Lemmy, but I coped - by the way I did once wear a Moorhead t-shirt to an Osmonds concert and was told that I was in the wrong place by Security).
Then came the encore - the (actually quite brilliant) opening riff starts - WAH,WAH - and at that exact moment a thunderstorm begins - thunder and lightening actually in time to the song - WOW!
I have seen many bands with pyrotechnics shows (honourable mention Mr McCartney for Live & Let Live at Millennium Stadium, and Judas Priest for BIC), but nothing ever like this. I know he is a good Mormon boy, and Crazy Horses is the first Environmental top 10 song, but this was amazing.
It was actually an amazing few minutes - OK I got drenched - but it is a memory I shall keep. And if you are interested, I scored multi Brownie points for taking my lady to see him!
Bet you wouldn't have guessed that.
Tomorrow the worst three gigs I have been to!

Getting old rokker!
And who sits for bands like the Foo Fighters??
Not that I could be bothered to go to see them - now Lemmy has died I think I'll retire from gigs!
