That is a confusing post DrDave did but what I think he means the emojis he used saying "No"! Is the real post. The rest is what is on most his most of late. I think it is called the signature line or quote line. He should have put more space below the emojis. Remember he is in the hospital so he might have had to rush doing the post. Hahaha! He was shocked when I told him about Eddie.

DrDave couldn't get on here to post, so he asked me to post this for him:
Rest in Peace, Eddie. The world is a bit darker with your departure.

I see what you mean, Zany. Personally, I think he could come up with a better signature. The comment is fine, but, to me should go somewhere else - I just don't think it's proper for the RIP topic. Ahhh, well, none of my business But, whatever you make as a signature will show up on every post you've made on the forum, lol.

This is a world that we (or I) knew nothing about. Eddie was obviously a good man, and very popular in his world. Of course, we generally don't know much about any of our people here unless they share it. And Eddie never shared this, at least with me. But he very possibly wanted to keep that separate from his VNA life.

Eddie was quite heavy (over 300 lbs) and had a seizure last October, and I know he spent time in the hospital. These were things he never mentioned here. I don't know his eating habits or anything, but from everything I've read, I'm starting to think he may have had a heart attack. Whatever it was, it was fast. HIs last contacts were May 24th, and the mention of his passing first appeared June 8th. He did mention once that he wasn't in touch with family. So, you never know what someone may have or not have.
Maybe none of that matters now. To me, there is a curiosity when we lose someone about 'what happened." Whatever. In the end, all that matters is that we've lost someone that made us feel better. We will miss you, Eddie.

Thanks for the link, Walt. It was heartwarming reading all the testimonials to Eddie.WalterB wrote: ↑July 29th, 2021, 7:17 pm If you want to know what others thought of Eddie, follow this link: https://twitter.com/CAWAllStars

I am sorry to say DrDave didn't make it. He passed on July 31st. I found the obituary today! Here is the link if you would like to read it. https://obituaries.adn.com/adportal/lis ... ml?id=2933
With Walt's help we were able to confirm that it is indeed DrDave.
It is very hard for me to write about him cause he was a dirty old man and would admit it.....haha! But I had the chance to get to know him and become a friend. He really was a giving person and he really enjoyed being part of the VNA. I will miss our talks and laughs. RIP DrDave

Well, this is really rough. I think we've lost DrDave.
Neither Zany nor I had heard from him since the end of July. He had complications from his leg surgery and was sent back to the hospital. While there he contracted Covid. There was a discussion about whether he would be intubated. Last I heard was that they wouldn't have to. But then, nothing.
Zany started checking and found an obituary for "Doug" Dickinson. Pretty much all other facts in the obit pretty much agreed. It was listed that Doug was, among other things, a ham radio operator, and it gave his call sign. DrDave had mentioned before that he was a ham radio operator. I researched that and found a club site. On that site there was a Silent Key report (a ham radio obituary) for Doug. It also listed a number for the club. I called and a fellow was there. He verified that Doug had lost a leg and was having issues with it.
So, like it or not, I'm afraid DrDave is gone. He was a good man and a good moderator and VNA friend. When we make online friends, we know them in real time, meaning, whatever is related to the reason you join a site. But we never know about them, about their lives, about what they may have done. So here's the obituary that Zany found. Now you little more about DrDave Dickenson.
73, DrDave. You will be missed.

Well damn...that was tough news to hear. Thanks to you both for passing along the news. It's always tough to hear that someone in the VNA Family has moved on. Rest in Peace Dr.
