The thing is, I was surprised at the end of the article to find he had a similar injury while training in Finland. So, I can see not thinking of that kind of injury the first time. After that, though, I would have thought he would always be prepared. Almost like a "fool me once, shame on you" kind of thing.

Maybe he has a thing for snow people and is just using the racing as a cover-up.

I forgot about that. I got frostbite (or maybe just near frostbite) in my hands delivering newspapers one morning. I think the doctor on the phone said they would be sensitive to cold for 7 years or so. I think that was the time needed for the skin to completely replace itself.
