It is awesome to be back, had to take a little break, did a lot of improvement in the personal development area.

I wanted to say there were two blonds who replaced Suzanne Somers, so I looked it all up to get my facts straight.ErikB wrote: ↑June 3rd, 2022, 3:04 am
I used to love watching this video! Thanks for bringing it back up. I think you were able to name one more than I was (Alyssa Milano). Although, I would have guessed Patrick Swayze at 0:45. I don't remember the blonde's character name who replaced Suzanne Summers on Three's Company. And the other guy I think was a friend from another apartment.
I never cared for Suzanne Somers or Jenilee Harrison. Liked Priscilla Barnes, tho.Wikipedia wrote:Following Somers's departure in late 1980, Jenilee Harrison joined the cast as Chrissy's first cousin Cindy Snow, who was soon replaced by Priscilla Barnes as Terri Alden."
The guy you saw with them in the bar was Larry, played by Kevin Kline, The other guy does look a lot like Patrick Swayze, but I'm not sure. For some reason I want to say that he made a movie with this type of scene in it, but just not sure.
I believe. Alyssa Milano is the brunette veil dancer at 0:22. She's quite pretty and has done soft core and what I call "softcore-hardcore." That's where the fucking is simulated. You're supposedly seeing the couple fucking, but you never actually see any sexual organs. She played sweet little Samantha (12-14 YO?) on "Who's The Boss?" with Tony Danza back in the '80's. Here's one of her "grown-up" clips.

I think that clip was from a movie called Seduction of the Vampire. Yes I saw it a long time ago and yes it was for one reason only lol.WalterB wrote: ↑June 3rd, 2022, 12:19 pmI believe. I have quite enjoyed my life. I've been free, I've done what I wanted, I have followed my dream. I had seriously the most exciting job a high school graduate could ever ask for. I've been everywhere from living on the street to helping build and operate a Spacecraft. I have a friend I wouldn't trade the world for.
But, the top of the list? I still miss my motorcycle. I rode for many years. I had 3 or 4 crashes on my bike. I've broken both collar bones, but lived thru it all. Not near as serious and/or wild as some, but that's just fine. I've done what I wanted to do. But I have to admit, the best enjoyment I ever got out of life was on my bike.
When I was in Denver, I used to go different places on the weekends. I rode my bike to work, and most every afternoon, I'd take the long way home, usually thru Turkey Creek Canyon. I just loved to ride. I miss it every day. I learned to buy 2 rainsuits, lol. One at work and one at home. After being forced to ride home in the rain once, I learned. The rain was so heavy that my bike would only get up to about 30 mph. When I got home, I walked in and just stood in the bathtub draining, lol. But I learned.
Probably the coolest weekend trip I remember is when I went to Dorothy's House and Oz in Liberal, Kansas. It was a 3-day weekend, so Saturday morning, I packed the bike and headed southeast. I was going to the Liberal Air Museum to see their collection. I got there easily and checked in to a motel. I headed over to the museum, took pictures and spent maybe 90 minutes. Then back on the bike, and I just cruised around town a bit. I had plans to go on to Dodge City, probably the next day, so for now I was just cruising the town. Then I saw a sign advertising "Dorothy's House," and it mentioned Oz. Well, I love the movie, have watched it annually for many years, and even saw it on the big screen a couple weeks ago when it was shown as a special event showing.
Anyway, I stopped at Dorothy's house. The place wasn't yet open. They had just built it and were a week or two from the official opening. They had built a small house there that was to resemble the house in the movie. Yes, you can go in and walk through. Then Oz was built in a large metal warehouse type building. I talked to a girl at the front desk (dressed as Dorothy, lol,) and she let me walk through everything if I'd give her a report after. Well, I loved it. When you enter the building, you walk into Munchkinland, where there are several scenes from the movie. Then you follow the Yellow Brick Road to the cornfield. Then you move on to the forest and the Tin Man. Next, the Lion, and then, as you follow The Yellow Brick Road, you walk through the forest and the poppies and on to Oz. There are several more scenes, including Glenda. As you watch Glenda, she suddenly turns into the WIcked Witch of the West. It changes back and forth every 5 or 10 seconds. The whole thing was very cool. So Sunday morning I rode up to Dodge City, spent a two or three hours looking around, ate lunch and later just rode around the area. I overnighted in Dodge city and, the next morning, headed home. I tool the long way, but mainly just enjoyed the ride.
I never rode a Harley (my son, bless him, has a big one,) and I never rode with a club. My choice was a Honda 1100 Shadow. It was styled like a Sportster and was ideal for me. But the clubs and the riding community are a necessary and fun part of riding. Deauxma and Larry are in a club down in Austin. It's a Veterans group and they go on weekend rides. Maybe when I go to Arizona, I'll leave my old Camry there and ride his bike back home, lol.
Well, that's another long one. What motivated all this was a song I ran across from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Like I said, I miss those rides every day. Sorry if I bored you, but I like the song and the clip.

I had a few more but didn't want to bore you too badly. If you like the movie, you will recognise all of these scenes.

I first joined the Navy Reserve in my Junior year of high school. I went to Boot Camp in Dec '61. When I graduated, they put me off active duty until September or something. Well, I wanted to go NOW, so I quit the Reserves and joined the Air Force. Did I miss something?

These are two of my favourite go to tracks when I'm feeling a bit ticked off with the world...as a non American (Aussie) I don't know if the first one has special meaning for American people but simply the aggressive tone and use of language is why I like it...but yeah these two songs are great for when you're feeling a bit ticked off with the world around and about you:

I always liked the song Asshole by Dennis Leary. I saw one of his routines in which he told this joke. He was smoking on stage, so you know it was a long time ago:
-----
Someone once told me that the only reason I smoked is because I didn't nurse long enough while I was a baby.
I said "Hey! If I could go to the store and get a 6-pack of titties, I would!"
-----
I haven't heard Detachable Penis in years! I probably first heard it on the Doctor Demento show. Another favorite was "Fish Heads", by Barnes and Barnes. I had absolutely no idea that this song was created by Bill Mumy and a friend of his! Bill Mumy played Will Robinson on the original Lost In Space, the kid with the special mental powers on a famous Twilight Zone episode, and, later, Lennier on Babylon 5. Wow!

Here are some interviews regarding Fish Heads and Babylon 5:

And, as a bonus, YouTube suggested a video I had forgotten about. If you like the aggressive tone of "Asshole", you might like this tune. I like the tone, but I also like the claymation, despite the nasty insult they put in at the end.
phpBB [media]
I am glad I could introduce it to you. Apparently it was very popular on the Doctor Demento show.
I haven't heard Zoot Suit Riot in quite a long time. Thanks for the refresh! It's a great song.
Score another one for the YouTube algorithm. Apparently the music for Star Wars, Harry Potter, and other movies today were heavily influenced by a suite of music by Gustav Holst (1874 - 1934) that was released in 1918. It is a 14 minute video.

As a child on a weekend morning television would show popular music videos. This one was my first introduction to the female form in a way that was far too hot for an elementary school kid that I was at the time. Good memories.

Oh, Walt, what have you started?
I have watched a lot of cartoons, all the way into perhaps the first 15 years of my working career. I never watched much Mighty Mouse. The theme is kick-ass, but the cartoons themselves were kind of boring to me. I never much cared for Tom and Jerry either. I would watch them if they were on, but I was much more of a Loony Tunes fan. I especially like the very old, genuinely crazy Daffy Duck. And Yosemite Sam in "Hair Trigger" is great! However, since this thread is about kick-ass music, I would have to go with The Superfriends. Here is a compilation of Superfriends intros, plus a Superman one at the end for some reason. Maybe the Superman one was included because it sounds like Ted Knight did the narration, just like he did for the first Superfriends. Notice that Robin was completely ignored in the first version. It became Batman and Robin from the second version onward.
In their heyday, Cartoon Network used to have short videos, called Groovies, that featured characters from shows they had on the network. One of them was a remix of the Superfriends intro, with a kick-ass emphasis on percussion and brass:
There was a lot of creativity back in those days. Here is a cross between the Superfriends and The Powerpuff Girls, with a reference to female maturity (the other point in Matty77's post):
Speaking of the Powerpuff GIrls, my favorite one-appearance villain for old-school references is The Boogie Man:
My favorite regular villain is Mojp Jojo:
But, getting back to music and Groovies, here is a Mojo Jojo song, done by one of my favorite bands, DEVO!
And another couple of Powerpuff Girls videos:
Something nice by Apples In Stereo. Note the two bowling balls and single bowling pin, and the Char-Lean Tilton hotel.
And a more kick-ass tune by Shonen Knife. One of the villains featured, wearing the red spandex, is Sedusa. What a hottie! In that episode we find out that the Mayor's Secretary, Sarah Bellum, lives at 69 Yodelinda Valley Ln.
Here is a really catchy Groovie, featuring a variety of cartoon characters (some of which I suspect did not actually appear on Cartoon Network). I had to use URL because the owner of the video did not allow linking from other sites. The quality is worth it, though:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEc4gDFHEBw
And, for an old-school 1950's 'Duck and Cover' vibe, but with better music, the last Groovie for this post:
I also used to watch Teen Titans. Here is their intro. The video is grainy, but I wanted to you to see the guest guitarist, "Guitar Wolf".
And, I was also into anime. Toonami had a fantastic line-up in its heyday. I used to watch Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, probably others. Their themes don't really rock enough to be included here, I think. The theme to Tenchi Muyo is kind of a nice instrumental:
But there were two shows whose closing themes were beautiful. Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop. The opening themes were far more active, and the one for Cowboy Bebop might fall in the kick-ass category for this thread.
Outlaw Star opening:
Cowboy Bebop opening:
And, the beautiful closing songs. There were two versions for Outlaw Star. I like the odd "bad radio" vocals at the very end of version 2:
And, saving the best for last. I loved this song when the show (Cowboy Bebop) was on. Sadly, the series did not have a happy ending as I recall, which might explain the soulful ending song. I picked this version because it has an opening "special effect" that I heard on the Toonami show that I don't hear on some of the other YouTube versions out there.
And, if you want to see what the bummer lyrics are saying:

And I remember all three of those shows! I was so focused on the "epic" aspect of the Mighty Mouse theme I forgot to think about the "fun" shows. I actually bought the box set of HR PuffNStuff. I found, as an adult, that it was almost unwatchable. I guess for some stuff you really can't go back.
Other Sid and Marty Krofft shows I also used to watch were Lidsville, Sigmund And The Sea Monsters, The Bugaloos, and The Land Of The Lost:
Lidsville, featuring Charles Nelson Riley as the evil magician and Billie Hayes as the genie (she also played Witchy-poo from HR PuffNStuff, if I remember correctly)

Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (Johnny Whitaker, the main kid, actually did some of the singing, if I remember correctly)

The Bugaloos (it looks like it is from someone's tv set, but the video was better than the others that I found)

I remember they had a big hit with "Senses of our world". As a 6-year old, I had quite the crush on Caroline Ellis!
