Lucifer season 5 part 2 just dropped on Netflix. I've watched the half of the episodes so far and they have all been very good.

Lucifer is really good - I've been hooked since I saw the Pilot episode (no pun intended) on a flight from London to Phoenix!
The only issue I have with series 5 is Tom Ellis's effort at a US accent! (I expect it must make you guys cringe)
It's the same in the series just started over here in UK on Fox - "Rush". I think the series has grown on me, even if the character he plays - Dr Rush - is very similar to Lucifer.
But the accent .....................

A little while ago, I said I'd discovered Britbox.
I'm now spending a lot of time working my way thorough "Classic" Dr Who.
Still with William Hartnell, and yes it is very dated.
I was amazed to find that he was only 55 when he filmed it!

I never got into classic Who. I don't know why. I certainly have enjoyed the current run of the show since Christopher Eccleston. I think I will have to give it another go.

Lance it's because Canada has restrictions/quotas? There must be a certain % of everything on each channel that is produced in Canada? That is my understanding?

Dave loves Britbox so does his sister!

Succession sounds good! Will check it out! I'm so crazy busy lately I'm lucky if I can get 30 min of TV in at midnight when I'm falling asleep!

Bob and Doug Mckenzie. According to Wikipedia:

The sketch was conceived when SCTV moved to the CBC television network. Due to the difference in the amount of time allocated for commercials, each episode to be broadcast on that network was two minutes longer than those syndicated to the United States. The CBC network heads asked the show's producers to add specifically identifiably Canadian content for those two minutes. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas thought that this was a ridiculous request, given that the show had been taped in Canada, with a mostly Canadian cast and crew, for two years. The request inspired them to create a parody that would incorporate every aspect of the humorous stereotype of Canadians.

I may have seen a William Hartnell or two. They don't stick in my memory very well. I am also surprised that he was only 55.

My first Doctor was really Jon Pertwee. I don't remember Patrick Troughton, so I have a feeling I picked up Jon Pertwee in reruns on PBS. Then the Hartnell clips would probably have been from some documentary or something.

My favorite Doctor, however, was Tom Baker. I was a big fan of Jon Pertwee, and almost didn't give Tom Baker a chance. But, any Doctor is better than no Doctor, and soon I came to prefer Tom Baker's nutty approach. Looking back, he was like the 1980's before the 1980's came to America. I had a little crush on Sarah Jane Smith (Elizabeth Sladen). Louise Jameson (Leela) came along shortly after I went through puberty, so I appreciated her as well. "Popular with the dads" was a quote I heard in a documentary once. The Leela character was supposed to be a savage descendant of a marooned space crew. Her clothes, therefore, included a ragged miniskirt that was actually sewn on to the actress. I remember Tom Baker mentioning that with Sarah, he could follow behind her when crawling through ventilation shafts and such. With Leela, he always had to go first.

Its not because of Canadian quotas. Its because of licencing and marketing. Distributors may feel the Canadian market can't support the licencing costs that would be incurred. And other arcane marketing strategies/philosophies that I don't understand.

It happens even with sports news clips. I'll be reading an article and there is an embedded video, but if I click on it I get a message to the effect that the video is not available in your geographic area.

I thought it was because the Canadians wouldn't buy the licencing? Because the content was not produced in Canada?

Quote from Wikipedia
For broadcast stations, the CRTC presently requires that 60% yearly, and at least 50% of programming aired daily from 6:00 pm to midnight must be of Canadian origin. In May 2011 the CanCon requirement for private television broadcasters was lowered to 55% yearly.

I know that Netflix and such are not broadcast stations but I thought maybe the Canadian government or CRTC had some rules on that content as well?

We just started watching "manifest", we're only on episode 3 But we got right into it! It kind of reminds me of "lost" in a way..... I heard they cancelled it already after 3 seasons and everyone is complaining about it?

Watching Leverage Redemption on Amazon. It's actually from ImdbTV so you can watch it there for free also. I enjoyed the original series when it came out in 2008 and ran for 5 seasons. It was about an ex insurance investigator who teams up with a 4 criminals he went after when he was an investigator to get justice for people who have been harmed by corrupt corporations or the rich and powerful who are essentially above the law. The new show has most of the original cast and a couple of new characters. If you liked the original show I recommend the new version. If you havent seen the original (just called Leverage) it is on Amazon and ImdbTV.

I really need to get caught up on Leverage Redemption because I loved the original show (and still have them all on DVD)!

Currently though, having finished Loki and waiting on the next Marvel or Star Wars live action show to appear on Disney+ I actually started watching Golden Girls from the beginning. Haven't seen it since I was a kid!
