Of course, Vicky. And there are MANY great, wonderful and dedicated employees out there. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was criticizing the entire workforce.

I heard Washington state is giving away free pot if you get your shots? Crazy! Meanwhile in Canada and Europe they are begging for the vaccines and don't have enough... What is wrong with this picture?

Finally, received my first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, yesterday ( Wednesday, the 9th, my time ) and so far, after 24hrs, or so, on Thursday, the only side effect is a slightly aching upper arm where I received the injection and initially a warm sensation in arm and head. No headache, so all is good, so far. I will receive the 2nd dose in 12 weeks.

We have so much vaccine here it's gonna go bad before we can use it? I sure hope they will decide to give it away to our friends in Canada And Or elsewhere! They are just about to give away 500 million doses of pfizer, and now they have all this
Johnson and Johnson that is going bad?]

I have friends here that did not get vaccinated She is in her forties and he is only 51 they are in great health, and him particularly stays in really good shape exercising all the time, she has been sick like the flu, but he has just been getting sicker and sicker, and they finally had to hospitalise him they said both of his lungs are in terrible shape top and bottom of the lungs They have done 2 rounds of remdesvir and it's not working - he will likely be put on ventilator.

Young healthy people Have this false sense of safety...... I just don't understand why they wouldn't get vaccinated When the governments and health authorities Are giving away free money, free beer, free pot, what's it going to take? How many people that you know do you have to watch suffer and die before you will get the vaccine?

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, of the 303 million vaccine doses administered, just 11.2 million shots have been Johnson & Johnson’s jab despite 21.4 million having been delivered. Several states have reported that thousands remain on the shelves.

Have a friend who lost a niece who caught it and died. She and her niece were coming to southern Arizona so we all could visit Tombstone. Niece was a 'wear your mask' supporter. Of course, I know no details, but suddenly it was posted she caught it and very shortly that she was gone. She was maybe 50's? Pretty devastating to a large family. It was before the shots. But, the point being, how can people look at the news around them and still say, "Awwwww, I don't need it." I've mentioned before, my own son doesn't want the shots. I won't try t coerce hi8m, but we've discussed it. Then I explain, "All I can say is a lot of younger, healthy folks have died from the disease, none from the vaccine. I understand, but I think the value received far outweighs the risk. So, I got the shot."

I don't think they look at the news at all, Walt. The awesome thing about the internet is: It's easy to find like-minded people.
The awful thing about the internet is: It's easy to find like-minded people.
Before the internet, you would have had difficulties to find someone who shares your weird conspiracy theories about vaccines, today you join a group on telegram where people push each other up.
There is also a lack of education about how to check the legitimacy of posts on the internet. It's a difference if your crazy uncle posts something on facebook or if a scientist posts a valid study, they don't get that, "But I've read on the internet that...". "Corona-deniers" might become a larger problem here, they are now under surveillance.
It's a good idea to try to talk to people, if you know them well, if they are still approachable.

All the best for your friend, Vicky!
Having too much sex can cause memory loss. I read that on page 69 in a medical journal on the 4th of May in 2008.

It called confirmation bias. People seek out information that reinforces their own views and beliefs. And the internet has made it possible for anyone to have a megaphone, so absurdity is now essentially unbounded.

And it doesn't help when "trusted" agencies can't be trusted. Three members of an advisory panel have resigned over the FDA's approval of a treatment for Alzheimers (at a cost of $56k/year). It seems the statistical data is not conclusive either way. Does one blindly accept the FDA's recommendations? If not, then how to choose which recommendations to accept and which to reject?

Here in North Carolina the the governor just announced a vaccination lottery to increase vaccination rates. Everyone vaccinated is automatically entered. There are going to be 4 drawings for 1 million dollars each. Hoping that will get us over the 70 percent vaccination mark.
Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you are up to :-)

I'm currently hoping for Nightmoves in October or November in Tampa. I have a few friends in the area and would really love to get back there and hang out for a few days.

I got my second AZ vaccination at the end of last month and now all restrictions have been lifted here in the UK (as of last Monday). Sunday I went to the first organised event (FriendsFest in Bristol) I have been to in at least 18 months, which was a very very odd feeling... and I still did an RF test the next morning at home before leaving for work!

The delta variant is ravaging Florida right now because of all the antivaxers. I think only 50% of people are vaccinated here and what they don't understand is that each person who gets covid and spreads it gives it a chance to mutate even more.... There are 2 more variants right behind it, I think Gamma and lambda or something?

Dave's mom was in the hospital because of a COPD attack and pneumonia. She did not have covid when she arrived at the hospital for sure, we know this because they tested her before admitting her.

After a week in the hospital she now has covid and it likely was given to her by the staff. The fact that nurses and hospital workers don't have to be vaccinated is incomprehensible to me. You are dealing with sick people who have compromised immune systems and we know that masks really don't work especially for this Delta variant that is even more contagious than the original covid..

Yes Dave's mom was vaccinated so hopefully she will live through it, but she is incredibly sick right now and really suffering. We find it infuriating.

I realize that you have to protect people's rights, and you cannot force people to be vaccinated but if you choose not to be vaccinated then you should stay home and not risk killing others.

Why are their rights more important than other peoples rights to not get infected by them? The people lying in the hospital beds should have rights as well?

One person's rights ends where the next person's rights begin?

So apparently a hospital is the most dangerous possible place you can go if you are sick as only 50% of the nurses and staff are vaccinated.

We really didn't know this. We just logically assumed that all nurses and staff would be vaccinated. You would think nurses would believe in science?

Sorry for the long rant, and text to speech errors.....

I didn't say anything about it at 1st because I was really hoping for a False positive, but they tested her 3 days in a row and they were all positive and she has just been getting sicker and sicker......
