I just lie back, put my favorite music in the player, and enjoy the scenery I'm driving thru, other traffic, etc. A 10 - 12 hour day is no problem. When I wake up, I'm always surprised how far I've been, lol. Bringing all of your CD's would help (go back home and get them, lol.)

Mike, i think the trick is not to be rushed. Enjoy the time you 2 have together, it doesn't always have to be "navigation" for the navigator ;) it could be sexy time, the perks of not having to worry about the dog just yet ;)

Well we made it!! Got a big welcome hug from Vicky....Rokkerr was his usual self :) hahaha ....and Taz greeted me with a growl and Connie got a more civil welcome and got to scratch his belly. It's gunna take a little time to get to know each other but he is a wonderful dog who has just been missing a little TLC.

Vicky and Rokkerr have done something amazing to introduce us to each other and we expect many years of joy with our new friend and family member Taz :)

Excited to be here and spend New Years with Vicky, Rokkerr, Taz and of course Connie :)

Mike :)

Day two with Taz:

Remember the Movie 50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore and that idiot Adam Sandler? Well today was like starting over a little with Taz. He has been so overwhelmed with everything that has been going on that I had to reintroduce myself today and reestablish some trust between us. Dog treats go a long way to bringing a dog around to your way of thinking. He's just a little gun shy and who could blame him? He's been through a lot in his short life but we are going to give him some routine and comfort back home that I'm sure he has never had before, of course with the exception of the love and care that Rokkerr and Vicky have given him since he has been in their care over the past few weeks.

I have never backed away from a good challenge and this is no different.

So thats it for now or does anyone want to hear about how good Vicky looked last night at the New Years Party? (wow what a party dress)

I'm sure its Ok if I describe the details of the outfit with Vicky's blessing. :)

It was a Black cocktail style dress...small strap around the neck, shoulder-less design...skintight design coming down to a pleated mini-skirt design which barely and I mean barely covered her amazing azz. The short skirt accentuated her sensational legs which were made even more amazing framed in black and white open toed high heels which lengthened her legs even more....wowsers :)

No doubt hands down the best looking, best dressed lady of the night

Day #3 with Taz

Started off this morning with a greeting from Taz as he licked my face while I was still lying in bed...thats a good sign because the morning before he took a bit of a dislike to me first thing in the morning. Each day seems to be instilling a little more confidence and trust between us and thats very encouraging. He has burned through 4 chew toys so far so we are figuring out what he can chew on and what he will inflict his will over :)

We had a fantastic evening visiting Vicky and Rokkerr's friends last night as they invited us for New Years dinner. I thought I had walked into a winter wonderland....never seen so many Christmas decorations in one place in my life...it was amazing and I loved it. Great food...great company...it was a lot of fun :)

We are off to Vicky's place later today so they can say goodbye to Taz and we can spend one more evening in the beautiful Georgia mountains before heading back home tomorrow. I think Rokkerr is cooking tonight...I hope he washes his hands before he tosses the salad.

I wish we could stay longer but we have to get back home...it's going to be a long three days cooped up in a Saturn driving home.

I just have to post this pic, it's priceless!

You have to understand, this poor dog has been kicked from place to place, he is sweet but he has been traumatized and he has his issues. I think Connie and Mike had a few moments of "OMG WTF is Vicky getting us into here?", lol... especially after driving 3000 miles they were understandably beat and nerves frazzled. It took a few days of them hanging with Taz by themselves, I think it was worse when Dave and I were there, it only confused him more, cause maybe he thought he was our dog. We were the only constant thing in his unstable life over the last few months. I'm sure Mike and Connie will fill you in on all the details of the past few days, but boy this dog lucked out and got 2 beautiful people as new parents. He is gonna think he died and went to heaven!

hahaha...Loki and Skittles are so glad that Taz is now a Canadian citizen :) 7200 km round trip in a week...I don't know how truck drivers do it

We high-tailed it home for three days and made it home yesterday @ 1:00pm. Taz was an angel in the car and rode like a trouper the whole way home. He is loving the new house and yard where he can play in the snow and freeze his little giblets off (palm trees and sandy beaches are overrated)

So far so good...he's loving, playful, protective, house trained, needs a little work but hes everything Vicky said he was and more. We are very grateful to make a difference in his life and know that he will bring us countless joyful moments in ours

Well here we are @ Day #3 of having Taz home safe and sound...sort of..lol. Connie and I have been walking Taz and getting him to know the neighbourhood. We had him on a 20' lead and he was sticking pretty close to us so when we got back to the house we decided to send Connie down the alley behind the house and I let him go thinking he was going to run up to Connie and into the yard. Holy sh$t was I wrong. He raced past Connie @ 30 miles an hour. He was a friggin' blur. Down the alley he raced right across the road and into the neighbouring school yard and around the corner. I went into full panic mode...never thought I would ever see him again. Within 10 seconds he had made a 180 degree turn and sprinted back down the back alley toward me. I reached out and grabbed him and got the leash back on him.

I'm sure that he was just wound up and wanted to run but we didn't have him in a secure area yet and want to make sure that he's going to be safe before we let him run wild. Vicky was right...he is soooo friggin fast.

We are off again to keep learning the neighbourhood and getting him out there to sniff every tree within a mile. I forgot how much work dogs are :) but its good work
